Law roundup: Man assaults driver in fit of road rage

Apr. 29—A man experiencing road rage reportedly tailgated another vehicle, following it to a location where he got out and smacked the other driver's phone out of his hand. Then he left in a black Volkswagen with a second male occupant and headed onto U.S. 93. A mustachioed man wearing red flannel was "obviously on drugs" as he allegedly tried to break into a shed after "humping a vacuum" minutes before, according to someone who called the Kalispell Police Department. The caller reportedly heard him arguing with a woman, screaming and a popping sound. The caller told officers he had a wooden "stand" in his hand that looked like a table leg. The man asked responding officers for medical help because he was having trouble breathing. A middle-aged woman with a pistol in her hand was reportedly spotted across the street by a man who heard two shots after he went behind his house. He told officers that she did not seem agitated and that he was unsure if she was shooting at anyone or anything. A man reportedly ignored a restraining order and removed the door handle off a woman's car because she wouldn't let him into her house. A man was reportedly slamming his door in the middle of the night, making enough of a racket to disturb a neighbor. Dispatch had a hard time hearing a woman who lost her voice over the cacophony of barking dogs as she alleged that a man was living out of her truck that was parked in front of a business after it broke down. She accused the man of taking items out of the truck and leaving. She said he had been kicked off the property last week. Officers detained a person and advised the jail about the incident. Officers received an online complaint about an alleged increase in vehicles speeding out of new apartment complexes in the area, in particular a green Chevy Chevelle that did a burnout before speeding off toward Idaho Street. Someone reportedly thought a man driving a white Dodge Ram 3500 with a flatbed looked intoxicated as he weaved in and out of traffic, tailgated other vehicles and swerved, almost hitting a car.

Arizona trooper hospitalized after collision on I-10 with suspected DUI driver

A state trooper with possible injuries was taken to a hospital after a truck driven by an intoxicated suspect struck his vehicle on Interstate 10 in Buckeye, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Around 7:30 p.m. April 2, the trooper was parked on the right westbound shoulder of I-10 in the area of milepost 117 in Buckeye as he completed paperwork from a crash that had just taken place without injuries, according to DPS. A Dodge Ram 3500 truck towing a trailer with three vehicles aboard, veered right and off the highway, crashing into the trooper's cruiser at a "significant speed" and pushing it about 60 feet, DPS said. The trooper, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with possible head injuries and, as of April 2, was being evaluated to determine injuries, according to DPS. The Dodge Ram driver was the only person in the truck and was not injured, DPS added. According to the agency, the driver, who had not yet been identified by DPS the morning of April 3, faces possible charges for DUI and related felonies. Highway 38 closed after pickup truck collides with semi

Feb. 27—MITCHELL — A car crash on Highway 38 Thursday afternoon resulted in the closure of the highway and minor injuries for both drivers. According to the Davison County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at 3:06 p.m. when a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck stopped at a stop sign on First Avenue pulled out onto Highway 38 in front of a westbound semi hauling corn. The semi, driven by a 23-year-old male from Alexandria, struck the car trailer being towed by the pickup. The impact caused the semi to veer off the road and into a nearby ditch, while one of the vehicles on the car trailer fell off as a result of the collision. The 25-year-old driver of the pickup, Dmytro Isaikov of Washington, was cited for failing to yield after the stop sign. Both drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene and did not require further medical attention. Traffic on Highway 38 was diverted for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and assess the damage.
