Bleacher Report poses Seahawks' biggest questions heading into training camp
The Seahawks retooled their roster this offseason in an attempt to better position themselves to compete for the NFC West division title. Bleacher Report recently wrote an article outlining every team's financial situation heading into camp, while also posing some questions about the depth chart. The Seahawks must address those concerns at camp.
"Will the interior offensive line be good enough to give Sam Darnold a shot," is the question B/R's Alex Ballentine poses while noting the Jets possess roughly $31.2 million in current cap space. It's fair to question the Seahawks' interior offensive line. New starting quarterback Sam Darnold needs quality protection if he's to be effective this season.
"Sam Darnold resurrected his career in Minnesota last season," Ballentine added. "He was able to overcome the ghosts of his past because he was playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the league. The Vikings led the league in pocket time last season. That was critical to Darnold's success as dealing with pressure has historically been his Achilles' heel."
It's a legitimate concern. First-round guard Grey Zabel will start at left guard. Center and right guard will both be decided by returning blockers who struggled last season. Olu Oluwatimi is the favorite to start at center, with Jalen Sundell pushing him in camp. Anthony Bradford and Christian Haynes are competing at right guard.
Darnold's 2025 success (or failures) may be determined by the protection (or lack thereof) he receives from the interior offensive line.

Seahawks sign DL Seth Coleman
Defensive lineman Seth Coleman was waived by the Seahawks earlier this week, but he didn't have to wait long to get a call back to the team. The Seahawks announced that they have re-signed Coleman to their 90-man roster. Wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. was waived with an injury designation in a corresponding move. Coleman initially signed with the Seahawks in May after going undrafted out of Illinois. He had 183 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries while in college. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said that Foster, who was also undrafted this year, suffered a hamstring injury. He had 108 catches for 1,426 yards and eight touchdowns at Michigan State.

Seahawks legend predicts Sam Darnold will top his career-best 2024 season with Seattle
Sam Darnold is coming off his best year in the NFL by a mile, yet one Seattle Seahawks legend is confident he can top it in 2025. Darnold, who threw for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns for a 14-3 Minnesota Vikings squad last season, must prove himself yet again with a different team this season after joining the Seahawks in free agency. The expectations remain high for Darnold, but Shaun Alexander, the legendary Seahawks running back who won league MVP in 2005, thinks Darnold will check all the boxes this season. "I think he's going to be better this year than he was last year with us, and I think they got the right offensive coordinator for him," Alexander told Fox News Digital after his work with USAA's "Salute to Service NFL Boot Camp" Monday. "I think the system looks right for him. They look great at practice." Darnold reunites with Klint Kubiak, who served as offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints last season. They were together in 2023 with the San Francisco 49ers, where Kubiak served as pass game coordinator and Darnold was backing up Brock Purdy after a failed tenure with the Carolina Panthers. It's a new-look offense in all aspects for the Seahawks, including at wide receiver with DK Metcalf shipped to the Pittsburgh Steelers in an offseason trade. Metcalf was a constant in the pass game for Seattle, but with the rise of Jaxon Smith-Njigba last season, they moved on and brought in Cooper Kupp, a move Alexander doesn't mind. Combine the receiving weapons with the dynamic duo of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet in the backfield, and Alexander went bold with his prediction for the Seahawks. "I'm still thinking that it's Seahawks 17-0," Alexander said, laughing. Realistically, Alexander believes this is a playoff team. They missed it at 10-7 last year, but Alexander has them getting in this time. "I think they're going to be 11-6," he said. "I think they're going to beat the right teams and shock somebody. I do know that it's going to be very hard to beat them at home. So, you get these things all equated, they're going to be a good team. "Both Kenneth and Charbonnet healthy, that's a good duo. I like how they're using Sam in the offense. They're coming up with their scheme that does what he does best. Defense, I think their secondary is wonderful. When you got all that — guys start making plays on the D-line — it's going to be hard to beat them." Darnold and the Seahawks will have a tough NFC West matchup against his former squad, the 49ers, Sept. 7 at home to kick off the 2025 campaign in front of "The 12s" for the first time. APPRECIATING THOSE WHO SERVE US While Alexander loved talking shop, he also loved meeting with men and women of the military through the USAA Salute to Service NFL Boot Camp, competing in drills similar to those the Seahawks Ring of Honor member did. Alexander admired the competitiveness during the 40-yard dash, broad jump and more drills at the NFL Combine, calling the day "special." He also has a special appreciation for the military given his own family ties. His second-oldest brother was a 22-year military veteran. "I just thought of him as a hero. Like I have an older brother who's a hero. He protects the country," Alexander said of his brother. "You can't undo what you were a part of. It's like, 'Man, I know what you're all doing, and I know you're grinding, and sometimes you want to stop and not do it. But you're a hero to somebody.' So, it's like a little 10-year-old kid that's like, 'Man, I'm going to give everything I got to go be great.' And thank you for doing that. Getting to share those kind of moments with the military is awesome."

The alpha College GameDay performance that got Tory Horton drafted
There's a reason the Seattle Seahawks drafted wide receiver Tory Horton despite him missing his entire senior season with injuries. Although he sat out 2024, he announced himself to the world in Week 3 of the 2023 Season on College GameDay. Sleeper Seahawks tweeted the highlights of his performance, which made them go semi-viral among Seahawks fan circles, to the tune of 63.6k Views in just under 24 hours. Those who remember the hype around Deion Sanders in his first year as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes will recall specifically how much coverage they received in the first month, while CU Boulder was still undefeated after pulling off a dramatic ranked win against No. 17 TCU and carving up one of their old-time Big XII rivals in Nebraska. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders were just announcing themselves to the national stage as well, so few were surprised when ESPN brought College GameDay to Boulder, even though their cross-state rivals in the Colorado State Rams were unusual for the spotlight as a Group of 5 team. However, the Rams had several players who would use the platform to become stars and go on to get drafted as well. Mohamed Kamara made life hard for Shedeur Sanders and company on offense in this game, and now is in his second year with the Miami Dolphins, who drafted him in the 5th Round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Tory Horton caught 16 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in this game, and truly exposed this Colorado team's notable weaknesses. He proved that despite all the momentum in the world, good teams are susceptible to a versatile receiver who can run the whole route tree. The same abilities that made him great in this game translate excellently to the NFL and fit perfectly in Klint Kubiak's new offense with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. All three receivers have the ability to play inside and outside WR positions which allows for shifts and motions that our past receivers weren't as advantageous running. The only wish I have for Horton's season is that he stays healthy.
