Ringbrothershas revealed its most ambitious build yet atThe Quail, A Motorsports Gathering: a fully reimagined 1971Aston Martin DBSnicknamed Octavia. The commission, which required more than 12,000 hours of engineering and craftsmanship, marks the Wisconsin-based custom builder's firstAston Martinproject and itsMonterey Car Weekdebut.
Beneath the hand-shaped carbon-fiber bodywork sits aFordPerformance 5L V8 paired with a Harrop supercharger, producing 805 hp through a six-speed manual gearbox. The widened stance, integrated structural cage and custom Roadster Shop chassis ensure modern handling to match the raw power. Bespoke three-piece HRE centerlock wheels, Brembo brakes and Fox coilovers complete the motorsport-grade setup.
Design cues balance originality with reinvention. While the Double-0 Silver body honors the Townsend-penned DBS silhouette, sharper contours and exaggerated proportions push the car into contemporary territory. Inside, Octavia features a carbon-fiber dashboard, 3D-printed stainless accents, pleated leather and machined brass door handles. Gentex auto-dimming visors and a full camera suite bringBond-like touches, underscoring Ringbrothers' theme: 'What would an MI6 agent drive on holiday?'
With Octavia, Ringbrothers has fused British sophistication with American muscle, delivering a one-off Aston Martin that aims to redefine restomod ambition on one of the world's biggest automotive stages.

Lamborghini CEO Doesn't Regret Reviving Countach, But Won't Do It Again

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Lamborghini revived the Countach vehicle name in 2022 for a new model run. It was a tack never taken before, and something the company will not repeat in the future, the brand's CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Newsweek during an interview at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. "I'm looking into one name, and then it's done, and we go ahead," he said. "We are measured by what we are doing. In the next generations, if they look back and they see a repetition of a car which is already done, they would say, 'Ah, they were running out of ideas'." The original Countach was made by Lamborghini from 1974 to 1990. It is a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car that was designed by noted Italian firm Bertone. Its wedge-shaped looks were the stuff of childhood dreams for many Gen Xers who had posters of the car in their bedrooms. The new Countach, "is a bit of the DNA in terms of design and technical layout," Winkelmann said, pointing toward the model's scissor doors, engine layout and greenhouse. It's a limited-series hybrid supercar that offers up 599 kilowatts of acceleration and passing power, with a maximum speed of 220 miles per hour. Much of the new Countach's design and engineering setup mirrors the original. But, with the hybrid powertrain and sleek front end, it's very much a modern car. "All of this is part of what Lamborghini is about today," the CEO said. "To make a re-edition was not a bad idea [but] I would not do it again," he offered. Still, Winkelmann doesn't regret it. "No, never. No regrets in life." Winkelmann believes three vehicle elements make Lamborghini successful: names, designs and technology. Lamborghini traditionally names its cars after renowned bulls, a tradition that began in 1966 with the debut of Miura. Countach was the successor to Miura as part of a project spearheaded by Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of Automobili Lamborghini. Countach is one of the rare exceptions. It was named after the Piedmontese exclamation of amazement at seeing something beautiful. Over 2,000 original Countachs were made. Just 112 new Countachs were created. The number 112 is significant to the lineup as Countach's original project name in the 1970s was LP112.
