Big Announcement! Aamir Khan To Release All His Films On YouTube With Pay-Per-View Format
Aamir Khan announced that all his movies will be released on YouTube after their theatrical run via a pay-per-view model.
Aamir Khan had earlier announced that his film Sitaare Zameen Par would release on YouTube with a pay-per-view option. While this was a new model he wanted to experiment with, the actor has now hosted the media to announce that he has decided all his movies will be released on YouTube after completing their theatrical run.
Aamir Khan and his team launched a new YouTube channel a few months ago named Aamir Khan Talkies. Now, at an event, the actor revealed that he named the channel Aamir Khan Talking because he always intended to release his films on the platform.
'This was the reason why I did not give away the rights of my film Sitaare Zameen Par, as this plan was already in motion. Our plan is to release every film under the Aamir Khan Productions banner on YouTube, after they complete their theatrical run. Each movie will be available at a minimal cost of ₹100," said Aamir, while speaking about his channel that already has over three lakh subscribers.
The actor further shared that all his films made under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions, will be available on the YouTube channel under the same model. 'Lagaan, Dangal, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Taare Zameen Par, and all the films made under Aamir Khan Productions will be added to the YouTube channel," Aamir shared, and added that his father's movies will also be available on the channel. He clarified that there will be some free content available alongside the subscription model as well.
Aamir added that he wants this channel to become a platform for newcomers: 'If a young filmmaker makes a movie and we like the content, then we would like to help newcomers through our platform."
'There's a huge difference between the pay-per-view model and the subscription model. In the subscription model, the user is not buying my film specifically; they're paying for an entire content roster on the platform. As a creator, I'm willing to take a thousand steps for my audience but I wish my audience would take just one step for the film. The pay-per-view model mirrors the theatrical experience, and going forward, this model will continue on YouTube," he further shared while talking about how this model is different from taking subscriptions.

Viewers split as Aamir Khan takes Sitaare Zameen Par to YouTube instead of OTT
Every time takes a professional call, it tends to split the crowd – fans, followers, and critics alike. His latest controversy? The YouTube release of Sitaare Zameen Par. At the time of its release, Aamir had stated his film would not be released on any OTT/digital platform. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now His stand was widely appreciated as it seemed to prioritise the larger interests of a struggling industry and audiences over his role as producer and actor. With the film doing well in multiplexes, he was felicitated for his seemingly charitable move. Cut to a press conference on July 30, Aamir announced that Sitaare Zameen Par would be released on YouTube under a pay-per-view model for just `100 and had apparently turned down a `100-crore offer from a streaming platform for the digital rights of his film. This decision has divided netizens and stakeholders on the ground. Some are accusing Aamir of misleading the audience and disrupting the industry's conventional release model: theatrical release first, followed by OTT for home viewing. Others are defending him, claiming YouTube is the original – and still the largest – OTT platform, and that offering the film as a paid title post-theatrical run is a bold, innovative step rather than a betrayal. Hansal Mehta in fact has lauded his approach, as it gives him greater 'creative control'. A timeline of Aamir's stance on OTT release March 9: Speaking against the prevailing OTT-first mentality, Aamir had said, 'We're telling our consumers that you can come and consume our product (film). If you don't, we'll bring it to you in eight weeks (through OTT platforms ), when it will be free of cost as you've already paid for it (through subscription). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now I don't know how to sell a product twice. Earlier, I used to watch movies because I had no option. Now, it's dependent on a fancy for films. So we've killed our own business model.' June 19: Multiplex Association of India (MAI) praised Aamir. 'Aamir Khan has always been a filmmaker who puts the audience first. His decision to bring Sitaare Zameen Par exclusively to cinemas is a significant show of confidence in theatres and the shared magic of the moviegoing experience. Indian exhibitors thank Aamir Khan for standing by theatres,' said Kamal Gianchandani, President of MAI. July 3: In response to his felicitation by theatre owners, Aamir told ANI,'Since I haven't sold the OTT rights and our film is not releasing on OTT, isliye shayad All India Theatre Owners have decided to felicitate me for the step that I have taken. I am happy that they thought about it.' July 30: Aamir apologised for the YouTube release at the press conference. For bypassing OTT giants, he said, 'When I release a film after 8 weeks on a subscription model, people aren't buying my film. They're only subscribing to the OTT platform. It wouldn't matter if a person wants to watch the film or doesn't after subscribing to the platform. It has always been my dream to reach every Indian at a reasonable price so they can afford it,' he added. On his YouTube strategy, he told PTI, 'This is my private cinema chain. Think of it like Aamir Khan Productions has opened a new cinema chain, which is in everyone's house and in everyone's pocket... And that is why I am doing this. I got good offers from OTT channels. But I don't want those ₹100–125 crore from OTT channels. I want to earn ₹100 from my audience. I prefer that more.'

Spider-Man Star Tobey Maguire Files for Joint Custody Of Son And Spousal Support
According to Us Weekly, he has also asked for child and spousal support. Tobey Maguire has filed for joint custody of his and Jennifer Meyer's son, Otis. Nearly 10 years after the pair announced their split, Tobey, who also shares daughter Ruby, 18, with Jennifer, has filed a response to Jennifer's initial divorce filing from 2020, requesting joint legal and physical custody of their 15-year-old son. According to Us Weekly, he has also asked for child and spousal support 'to be determined through private mediation". Tobey, 50, and Jennifer, 48, tied the knot in Hawaii in 2007, four years after they first met. They announced their split in a joint statement in 2016, saying: 'After much soul searching and consideration, we have made the decision to separate as a couple. As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship." Jennifer only filed for divorce four years later, with Tobey's response coming this month. The pair have maintained a close friendship following their split, with Jennifer previously telling Us Weekly: 'He's my best friend. He's the greatest ex-husband a girl could ever have." She added: 'The day begins with the kids and ends with the kids. So, you manage to get your time in and work hard in the middle, you know? They're really amazing kids, so we figure it out together. It just manages to work out really well." Speaking on The World's First Podcast in 2022, Jennifer, who got engaged to Geoffrey Ogunlesi last year, said: 'I can't even explain. I would literally do anything in the world for Tobey. He is my brother. I love him to death, and we have the most beautiful family."
