UAE launches programme to train youth in global social missions
Launched from Japan, the programme seeks to embed a culture of volunteerism and community responsibility, provide specialised skills through high-quality training, and support global crisis response and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Khaled Al Nuaimi, Director of the Federal Youth Authority, said the initiative is a new milestone in strengthening the UAE's pivotal role in volunteer and humanitarian work and promotes the UAE's positive soft power globally through dynamic youth participation.
Al Nuaimi emphasised the UAE's longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes, inspired by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who instilled in UAE citizens the values of generosity and solidarity in times of crisis. The UAE has become one of the world's most influential countries in providing aid through medical, food, and development projects globally.
Over the next five years, the programme reportedly aims to train young Emiratis aged 21 to 35, who are "passionate about humanitarian work and committed to promoting values of solidarity and community responsibility." It seeks to raise awareness, support communities in need, and involve youth in international relief missions, according to state news agency WAM.

UAE and Jordan carry out aid air drops into Gaza
Jordan and the UAE have carried out three air drops of aid on the Gaza Strip, official Jordanian news agency Petra reported on Sunday, after Israel began a limited pause in fighting in three areas of the strip. The air drops were carried out by C-130 aircraft from the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the UAE Air Force, carrying 25 tonnes of food aid and humanitarian supplies. The military said it would begin a daily 'tactical pause' in Gaza City, Deir Al Balah and Al Mawasi, three areas of the territory with large populations, to 'increase the scale of humanitarian aid' entering the territory. The pause begins every day at 10am to 8pm local time until further notice, starting Sunday. This is a developing story ...
