The advisory highlighted that the Paharganj samuhik shobha yatra for Janmashtami and the Tazia procession will occur on August 14, with restrictions and diversions commencing from 1.30 pm. The Janmashtami procession will start from Mandir Shri Bankey Bihari Ji in Sangatrasan Bazar, Paharganj, and pass through Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Chuna Mandi, Main Bazar, Munja Chowk, and Arakashan Road. The Tazia procession is set to begin at Ajmeri Gate, Pul Paharganj, and DBG Road, directing towards Chelmsford Road and the New Delhi Railway Station, the advisory informed. Arunachal: 51-ft Parashuram statue in Lohit to be called Statue of Strength
Itanagar, Aug 13 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday announced that the 51-foot under-construction statue of Lord Parashuram at Parashuram Kund in Lohit district will be officially called the 'Statue of Strength'. He said the project, being developed through the combined efforts of the state government, VIPRA Foundation, and local communities, is on track for inauguration in November or December this year, an official statement said here. Mein, who inspected the site at Wakro in the district during the day, highlighted that under the Riverfront Development Project, several infrastructure upgrades were underway, including safe bathing facilities, structural protection work, and improved public amenities to make Parashuram Kund both a revered pilgrimage centre and a vibrant tourism destination. Despite recent flood damage, expert-led redesigns are being implemented to enhance safety, accessibility, and visitor experience. The deputy chief minister also chaired a coordination meeting with the Lohit district administration, chief engineers, departmental heads, and public leaders to discuss plans for transforming the site into a major pilgrimage and tourism hub. Discussions covered security enhancements, IT facilities, riverfront protection, and management strategies for mega events. Valuable suggestions were shared to ensure the site's long-term preservation. Reaffirming the state government's commitment, Mein said efforts will focus on protecting the sanctity of Parashuram Kund while unlocking its potential as a spiritual and cultural landmark for future generations. Namma Metro sets new ‘single-day' record with 10.48 lakh riders: CM
Bengaluru, Aug 13 (PTI) Karnataka Chief Minister on Wednesday announced that Namma Metro set a new 'single day' record with 10.48 lakh people travelling on the network a day after the Yellow Line was launched. The record was set on August 11, said Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a joint venture floated by the Government of India and the Karnataka government, to build, operate and expand the Namma Metro network. Sources from BMRCL said the agency had only expected a turnout of 25,000 to 30,000 people as there are only three train sets. But the opening day saw three times more people using the Yellow Line. 'With 4,51,816 people travelling on the Purple Line, 2,91,677 on the Green Line, 52,215 on the Yellow Line and 2,52,323 on the Interchange, Namma Metro has now become the lifeline of transportation for Bengaluru residents," wrote the CM in microblogging site X, formerly Twitter. He said the Yellow Line has reduced travel time and made software employees who commute to places like Electronic City, Silk Board, Singasandra, Govindashetty Palya and Konappana Agrahara, breathe a sigh of relief. 'I request the public to support our efforts to alleviate traffic congestion by making more use of mass transit such as the metro," he added.
