Nidhi Bhanushali On Non-Payment Claims By TMKOC Actors: 'My Reason For Moving Out...'
Former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Nidhi Bhanushali spoke about controversies pertaining to non-payment of dues on the show.
Former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) actor Nidhi Bhanushali, who played Sonu on the show, has come a long way since she bid goodbye to the longest-running sitcom. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Nidhi opened up about her departure from the show and her perspective on its many controversies, including non-payment of dues. She also reflected on her latest projects, including sharing the screen space with MS Dhoni and Bhuvan Bam.
'Things Could Have Become Complicated If…'
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has often made headlines for payment disputes and other behind-the-scenes troubles, but Nidhi said that her chapter with TMKOC is 'too distant" now to dwell on. 'It's been about six–seven years since I moved on from the show, and honestly, that chapter feels very distant now," she said.
'At the time, transitioning out of it wasn't the easiest, largely because I had been part of the show for so many years, and there were strong emotions involved on all sides. I did have a quiet concern that things could get complicated, as they sometimes do in such long-running setups, but nothing really did. And whatever did happen is perhaps not even worth remembering," the actor added.
She also clarified that financial matters were never her concern. Nidhi said, 'I never paid much attention to that aspect. My reasons for moving on were deeply personal and creative. I don't even recall the finer details anymore, because so much life has happened since. What's stayed with me is the learning, the relationships, and the richness of that experience, and that's what I choose to carry forward."
Nidhi Has No Regrets About Quitting TMKOC
Looking back on her career, Nidhi is grateful for how things have unfolded, both the highs and the challenges. When asked if she wished anything unfolded differently in her career after she left TMKOC, she said without a tinge of regret, 'Absolutely not, I wouldn't change a thing about my journey", adding, 'Every day feels like a gift from the divine, and I've been blessed with many beautiful ones. Some came wrapped in success, others in challenges, but all of them came with meaning."
Nidhi On Working With MS Dhoni
Recently, Nidhi had the chance to shoot with none other than MS Dhoni, and it's an experience she cherishes deeply. 'What stood out the most was his humility," she shared. 'For someone who has achieved so much, he carries himself with such quiet confidence and groundedness. There's no air, no fuss, just focus and presence. Being around that kind of energy is rare, and I felt really lucky to witness it up close. The shoot itself was smooth and joyful. He has this beautiful way of making everyone around him feel comfortable. And for me, just sharing a frame with a living legend was incredibly special," she said.
Nidhi Says She Vibed With Bhuvan Bam From The Very Start
Another memorable experience came when she collaborated with internet sensation Bhuvan Bam for an ad that fans loved for its humour. 'It was actually a lot of fun and very quick" she recalled. 'It was one of those in-and-out shoots where everything came together pretty smoothly. There were no rehearsals as such; we just got into it on set. Bhuvan is incredibly skilled and has great comic timing, so working with him was super easy and organic. We vibed well from the start, which made the whole experience light, spontaneous, and honestly… pretty hilarious, even off-camera. It was a fun first collaboration."
Years after exiting TMKOC, Nidhi Bhanushali continues to carve her own path, embracing her career experiments with gratitude and joy.

Anusha Dandekar Reacts To Bigg Boss Rumours: 'Never Stepping In That House'
Last Updated: Anusha Dandekar denies joining Bigg Boss Season 19, stating she was never contacted. She prefers her current work and teases a new project. With every new season of Bigg Boss, there are a few things you can count on like drama, unexpected evictions, and rumours about Anusha Dandekar joining the show. Every year, her name comes up as a potential contestant and Season 19 is no exception. But once again, Anusha is setting the record straight. 'Honestly, I have no idea why my name keeps coming up!" she tells News18 Showsha exclusively, when asked why speculation around her participation refuses to die down. 'I've made it very clear that I'm never going into that house. I should be getting paid by them for all the free promo I've been giving without ever stepping in!" So, have the makers ever actually reached out? 'Never. Not even a call. I think they know I'll slip out midway!" she laughs again. 'But really, if they're going to keep using my name for attention, I deserve a cheque at this point." That sounds like a hard no from Anusha, and she confirms it: 'Yup. It's just a personal choice. I think people who do that show are incredibly brave. But, me? Not interested. It's not my thing." What about other reality shows — something like Khatron Ke Khiladi, perhaps? 'They've asked, yeah. But again, not something I want to do. I love what I do already, and I just want to keep doing that." So while Bigg Boss fans might have to finally put those rumours to rest, there's still more coming from Anusha. 'I can't say yet… but you'll see me soon!" she teases. Anusha Dandekar makes a comeback to screens with Hunter Season 2, where she steps into the shoes of a full-blown action hero. The series, led by Suniel Shetty, takes the stakes higher this time around.
