Jaipur: Under the
e-Work 2.0
module, launched by the state's
rural development
department, several departmental activities, including recommendations or proposals for development projects by MLAs in their respective assembly constituencies under the
MLA-LAD scheme
, are now done digitally or online.
This initiative aims to enhance transparency, enable real-time monitoring, reduce work completion time, streamline govt processes, and improve efficiency in project execution.
Some of these activities include cost estimation of development projects, digitally signed sanctioning/approval of work, and online measurement of work (DANG, MAGRA, and MEWAT area development programmes and MLA-LAD). Additionally, it involves online payment through a single nodal account (SNA), inspection and monitoring of development projects, preparation of work completion and utilisation certificates online, SSO integration, and geo-tagging of works.
"Under this module, MLAs can recommend development projects to be undertaken in their respective assembly constituencies through the e-Work mobile app. The financial and physical status of these projects can also be monitored through this app," said project director rural development and deputy secretary Omkareshwar Sharma.
While the e-Work 2.0 module was launched by chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on March 27, most of the features of this module were conceptualised by additional chief secretary (ACS) rural development department Sreya Guha.
The department has also suggested to the state govt that the e-Work module can be replicated in departments such as tribal area development (TAD), forest, local self-government, public works department (PWD), water resources (WRD), and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

Union minister assures NH-66 work completion by 2025-end

T'puram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan met Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss national highway (NH) development works in Kerala, especially the recent collapse of the embankment and service road on NH-66 at Kooriyad in Malappuram. After the meeting, PWD minister PA Mohamed Riyas told the media that Gadkari promised to complete NH work by the end of 2025. "NH-66 will open as a New Year gift to Kerala," he said. Vijayan, Riyas, Kerala's special representative in New Delhi KV Thomas and chief secretary A Jayathilak attended a 45-minute meeting at Gadkari's office. Riyas said Gadkari listened to the chief minister's concerns and assured there would be no compromise on quality or safety of NH works. He also promised action against those responsible for the collapse in Kerala. Riyas said Gadkari proposed a 360m-long viaduct to fix the issue at Kooriyad. The contractor will bear construction cost and has been barred from future project bids, he said. On May 19, around 2:30pm, the embankment and service road of the under-construction NH-66 collapsed at Kooriyad in Malappuram, between Kolappuram and Kooriyad bridge. This aroused safety concerns among the people. Riyas said Gadkari also assured support for other road projects that are in the pipeline. The Centre will approve Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road by the end of July as the state has completed land acquisition. Work on Kollam-Sengottai greenfield highway is expected to begin by September, he said. Later, Vijayan thanked Gadkari in a social media post, calling the meeting 'productive' and appreciating his review of NH projects in Kerala. "Thank you for your continued support," he wrote.

Tatkal Ticket Booking Rule Change Alert: Indian Railways To Soon Use....Passengers To Get Confirmed Ticket With...

Booking a confirmed tatkal ticket with Indian Railways has been a dream for many train travellers in India. The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)'s website often hangs, slows down and delays booking by individual passengers. This often leads to outrage among passengers who get waitlisted tickets despite efforts and payment deductions. Notably, the Indian Railways and IRCTC have been working to resolve this issue and make tatak ticket booking by individual passengers smooth. Now, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a change in the booking rules for tatkal tickets. The rule will come into effect soon, said Vaishnaw. "Bharatiya Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will help genuine users get confirmed tickets during need," said the minister on X. With e-Aadhar authentication, the passenger will get OTP on their mobiles and they will have to verify it on the IRCTC ticket booking website. This will weed out fake users/passengers/agents who often book tickets and sell it in black at higher prices to those in need. Aadhaar authentication will help the railways verify the passenger's info and thus, reduce the burden on servers by removing fake users.

Indian Railways passengers note! Is your IRCTC account Aadhaar-verified? Tatkal tickets won't be possible otherwise..

Indian Railways is planning to make the Tatkal ticketing process more robust by making some of the rules more stringent, like only Aadhar verified accounts will be allowed to book online Tatkal tickets, Aadhar based OTP authentication shall also be required for booking. Sources said that counter based tatkal ticket may also be booked after Aadhar verification to control malpractices. 'Indian Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will help genuine users get confirmed tickets during need," said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Vaishnaw on Friday said a passenger, who has bought physical ticket from the ticket counter can cancel it online through the IRCTC website or 139, but one has to visit the reservation centre for collecting the amount. The issue was raised by BJP MP Medha Vishram Kulkarni, who asked whether the passengers who have purchased waiting tickets from counter as opposed to etickets are required to visit the station before the train's departure for ticket cancellation. "Waitlisted PRS counter ticket shall be cancelled across the reservation counter on surrendering of the original PRS counter ticket as per time limit prescribed in Railway Passengers (Cancellation of Tickets and Refund of Fares) Rules 2015," Vaishnaw said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
