Taraji P. Henson's Met Gala outfit represented the personal "transformation" she has gone through.
The 54-year-old actress opted for an off-white custom Monse x Post-Imperial dress that consisted of a cropped blazer over the top of a minidress for the biggest night in fashion on Monday (05.05.25) and made sure to "pay homage" to women from the ethnic group based across parts of West Africa.
She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "This is paying homage to the Yoruba culture and the women who paid honours to a deity. They wore white because it represented transformation and spirituality. I think that's where I am right now, because I'm at peace. "
The 'What Men Want' star noted that she has "fought hard" for the type of life she has now and struggles to explain it in any great detail, but just has an "overwhelming feeling of peace" at the moment.
"I have fought for the peace that I've found now, I feel like I'm in a transformation from the old me to the new me. I can't explain it. It's just an overwhelming feeling of peace."
Meanwhile, Taraji sported braces across her teeth to attend the event and noted that she has "got used" to the feeling of them but couldn't wait to take them ut so she could go home and enjoy some pizza.
She added: "You get used to it, you have to take them out to eat though! As soon as I leave here, I'm gonna get a pizza!"
Last year, the Hollywood star noted whilst attending the BET Awards that "representation and recognition is vital" in the fashion world and she wanted to celebrate her heritage in a way that today's designers "deserve".
She said: "Representation and recognition is vital. The BET Awards is our night, and talented black designers deserve the opportunity to have the visibility and platform they deserve. It's all about celebrating our heritage, our creativity and our unique perspectives through the art of fashion"

Alicia Silverstone is determined to preserve Clueless legacy in TV reboot

Alicia Silverstone doesn't want to ruin the legacy of Clueless with the upcoming TV reboot. The 48-year-old actress will reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in the small screen adaptation of the 1995 coming-of-age comedy movie and admits that it wasn't a project she could see herself starring in previously. Alicia told Entertainment Tonight: "Where we are is that it's in very early stages. I'm obviously excited. I never thought that that was something I would ever do because I wouldn't wanna mess up this thing that we all love so much. "So we will do our very best to honour the original movie that we love and also bring something new to it." She added: "That's the goal, and I believe we will execute that goal." Silverstone explained that her fashion-obsessed alter ego's style transformation will be evident in the series. She said: "I can't wait to step back into Cher's skin and her fancy designer shoes that will be gently used, of course - duh - because she's evolved. "This is 2025. She's not wearing the new stuff unless it's, you know, sustainable or vegan. We'll have to see how far we can go with that." Alicia found fame when she was teenager but admits that she found it difficult to cope with her celebrity status at a young age. The Babysitter star said: "I was so overwhelmed by being famous because I was such a young girl and it was never really my intention." Alicia thinks finding fame and success at such an early age means she "missed some emotional steps". However, she also acknowledges there were some positive aspects to her early success. The actress said: "I think I probably missed some emotional steps that needed to happen in a normal situation of development. "But I also jumped light years ahead in other ways. It's sort of a combo platter. You gain some and you lose some." Alicia also stressed that she never had any trouble getting her voice heard in the movie business. She said: "Unfortunately or fortunately, I do not know, I've never had that problem with my work. "I have had it in my personal life, learning to have a voice in my real life has been harder than having a voice in my work life. Maybe it's because I had success at a young age and sometimes maybe to my detriment, when I should have been wrangled."

Chris Columbus: Home Alone reboot would be a 'mistake'

Chris Columbus thinks it would be a "mistake" to reboot Home Alone. The 66-year-old filmmaker directed the 1990 Christmas classic and its 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York - which were both written by John Hughes and starred Macaulay Culkin - and he believes it would be impossible to capture the magic of the films so far into the future. He told Entertainment Tonight: 'I think Home Alone really exists as, not at this timepiece, but it was this very special moment, and you can't really recapture that. I think it's a mistake to try to go back and recapture something we did 35 years ago. "I think it should be left alone.' His comment came after Macaulay recently teased potentially reprising his role as Kevin McCallister if the salary was right. But he said during a screening of the film and a Q+A session: 'I have ideas, but I don't have time to write anything with my two children." Following the first two movies, the Home Alone franchise continued with Home Alone 3 (1997), Home Alone 4 (2002), Home Alone: The Holiday Heist (2012) and Home Sweet Home Alone (2021), but with other child actors at the forefront. And in 2018, Ryan Reynolds was attached to produce an R-rated reboot for Fox titled Stoned Alone, but the project has not progressed. Meanwhile, Chris previously admitted he wished he could erase US President Donald Trump's cameo from Home Alone 2: Lose in New York, branding his appearance a "curse". In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, he declared: 'I just wish it was gone. 'If I cut it, I'll probably be sent out of the country. I'll be considered sort of not fit to live in the United States, so I'll have to go back to Italy or something.' The seven-second appearance by Trump came when Macaulay's character checked into the Plaza Hotel and asked a man in the lobby for directions, seemingly oblivious to the fact it was the then-owner of the facility. Trump gave a simple reply and walked off screen. In a 2020 interview with Business Insider, Chris said the future president 'bullied his way into the movie' after only allowing filming to take place at the hotel if he could have a cameo role. He said: 'We paid the fee, but he also said, 'The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie'.' However, Trump later claimed Chris had 'begged' him to be in the movie. He wrote on his Truth Social platform: 'I was very busy, and didn't want to do it. He added: 'They were very nice, but above all, persistent. I agreed, and the rest is history! That little cameo took off like a rocket… now, however, 30 years later, Columbus (what was his real name?) put out a statement that I bullied myself into the movie. Nothing could be further from the truth.'

Alicia Silverstone 'felt more confident before Clueless'

Alicia Silverstone "had more confidence about what [she] was doing" before starring in Clueless. The 48-year-old actress played Cher Horowitz in the 1995 teen comedy film, and Alicia now acknowledges that it was a turning point in her life. She told Entertainment Weekly: "Before Clueless, I was much more intuitive and playful and had more confidence about what I was doing. And I think after Clueless, for a minute I got a little stressed and made it more intellectual or something. I had about three or four years of this strange feeling. "Acting is important to me, but I have taken breaks from it at times, and then come back to it because I loved it so much. I've figured out that you can do all the things." Alicia actually suffered a series of setbacks before landing her first big role in Hollywood, and the actress still has vivid memories of being overlooked for film parts. She shared: "At first, I was auditioning almost every day, but I wasn't getting anything. Then, all of a sudden, I started to get close to everything. They would say, 'It's between you and one other girl.' But that actually was worse. I'd get so close and then be disappointed, where before I didn't care." Alicia actually wore a casual outfit for her Clueless audition, admitting that she wasn't especially fashion-conscious at the time. She said: "What's funny is, when I got the role for Clueless, I wore jeans. "Actually, my entire auditioning process up until around the time of Clueless, I wore jeans and a green T-shirt with a little pocket on it. That's just what I wore every single day. "At that age, I never had any interest in fashion at all, so I would just wear whatever was around, even if it was really unattractive flannel." Alicia previously admitted to being surprised by the impact of Clueless. The actress never imagined that the teen comedy movie would change her life. She told Entertainment Tonight: "I don't think I was thinking about anything in the future when I was 18-years-old. "I had no idea. I just knew it was an exciting part and that [director] Amy Heckerling was such a good filmmaker. I was really excited to take that on." Asked whether she'd like to star in another Clueless movie, Alicia explained: "I don't think Amy Heckerling's down for that. "It's not in my hands. I think what's really hard about Clueless to re-do it is that Cher learns how to become a whole human. "Where do you pick her up? Do you pick her up from the evolved self or do you pick up from she's relapsed and now she's back to her old ways? I don't know where you go."
