Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 13 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao has come down heavily on Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for his recent statement claiming that the Congress government had implemented 'almost all" of the six guarantees promised to the people.According to a press note, KTR recalled that, before the elections, the Congress party and its leaders, including Bhatti Vikramarka, had urged people to 'keep the Six Guarantee cards safe" and assured that every promise would be fulfilled within 100 days of coming to power.'Now, it's not just 100 days but two years since you took office, and not a single guarantee has been fully implemented. 'That is why, across villages, the public is chasing away Congress leaders," he remarked.Issuing a direct challenge, KTR dared Bhatti Vikramarka and any minister in his cabinet to visit any village in Telangana and tell the people that all the promises, including the guarantees, have been implemented.'If you have the courage, go and say it. If the villagers don't drive you out after hearing that, I will quit politics permanently," KTR declared, according to the release. The BRS leader further asserted that the falsehoods and propaganda of the Congress on implementing the six guarantees will be met with a fitting reply from the people in every village of Telangana. In September 2023, during the Telangana Assembly elections, the Congress announced six poll guarantees for the people of the state. The party promised to include houses for all the homeless, Rs 4,000 old age pension, Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for all women, gas cylinders for Rs 500, free bus travel for women and Rs 10 lakh health insurance, besides several other things. The first Guarantee 'Indiramma Indlu" promises a House site plus Rs 5 lakh and a 250 sq yards plot for Telangana movement fighters. The second Guarantee was 'Mahalakshmi" Rs 2500 monthly allowance to all women, a Gas cylinder at Rs 500 and free travel in all TSRTC buses across the state. The third Guarantee was Gruha Jyoti – 200 units of free electricity.Fourth Guarantee was for the elderly: Cheyutha – Rs. 4000 pension, Rs 10 lakh Rajiv Arogyasri insurance. The party also promised a Rs 4000 monthly pension for the elderly and Rs 10 lakh health insurance under the Rajiv ArogyaShri scheme.Fifth Guarantee was Rythu Bharosa: Rs 15,000 annually to all farmers and tenant farmers, along with Rs 12,000 for agri labour and Rs 500 bonus for paddy crops. The sixth Guarantee was for youth, i.e. Yuva Vikasam – Vidya Bharosa card worth Rs 5 lakh for students – Telangana International Schools in every mandal. TG BJP lauds apex court's decision to transfer lawyer couple murder case to CBI

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to hand over the investigation of the 2021 murder of advocate couple Gattu Vaman Rao and P. V. Nagamani to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He said on Wednesday the verdict reflects growing public distrust in the state's investigative agencies and will help restore faith in the judicial system. The lawyer couple was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Peddapalli district, triggering widespread outrage and raising serious concerns about the safety of legal professionals in the state. The Apex Court's decision to transfer the case to the CBI is seen as a significant step toward ensuring justice and accountability. Rao said that the CBI probe would uncover the full facts of the case and ensure that those responsible face strict punishment. He also reiterated his long-standing demand for the introduction of an Advocate Protection Act to safeguard lawyers from such attacks. 'As a former MLC, I had repeatedly urged the previous government to enact the Advocate Protection Act, but the demand was ignored,' Rao said. He called on the current Congress-led state government to fulfill its election manifesto promise and introduce the legislation in the upcoming assembly session. Rao stressed that protecting the legal community is the government's responsibility and affirmed that the BJP would continue to advocate for justice, dignity, and security for lawyers. He said the Supreme Court's intervention should serve as a warning to those who threaten or attack legal professionals and reaffirmed the party's commitment to legal reforms and institutional accountability.

Amid 'vote chori' row, BJP claims Sonia Gandhi listed as voter before becoming citizen

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday launched a counterattack on the Congress, questioning its alleged attempt at 'vote-chori' by reportedly seeking inclusion of Sonia Gandhi's name in the electoral roll years before she was granted Indian citizenship. In response to the Congress's criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) system and its allegations of electoral malpractice, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya took to 'X' (formerly Twitter), saying, 'Sonia Gandhi's tryst with India's voters' list is riddled with glaring violations of electoral law.' He wrote, 'This perhaps explains Rahul Gandhi's fondness for regularising ineligible and illegal voters, and his opposition to the SIR. Her name first appeared on the rolls in 1980 — three years before she became an Indian citizen and while she still held Italian citizenship. At the time, the Gandhi family lived at 1, Safdarjung Road, the official residence of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Until then, the voters registered at that address were Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, and Maneka Gandhi.' Tagging a copy of the requisition slip for adding Sonia Gandhi's name, Malviya claimed, 'In 1980, the electoral rolls of the New Delhi parliamentary constituency were revised with January 1, 1980, as the qualifying date. During this revision, Sonia Gandhi's name was added, appearing at serial number 388 in polling station 145'. He alleged in the post, 'This entry was a clear violation of the law, which requires a person to be an Indian citizen to be registered as a voter. Following an outcry in 1982, her name was deleted from the list — only to reappear in 1983. But even her reinstatement raised serious questions. In the fresh revision of the electoral rolls that year, Sonia Gandhi was listed at serial number 236 in polling. Thakur's vote theft charge Ex-Union Minister Anurag Thakur alleged voter registration irregularities in Rae Bareli, Wayanad, Diamond Harbour, and Kannauj. He accused Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Akhilesh Yadav of winning through 'vote theft.'

SIHS colony ROB completion pushed to September

COIMBATORE: Locals and motorists in Singanallur, SIHS Colony, and Ondipudur areas have voiced frustration over the prolonged delay in completing the much-awaited SIHS Colony rail overbridge (ROB). Despite repeated assurances, the project's finish date has been pushed once again - this time to September 2025. The 700-metre-long flyover, being built by the State Highways department at a revised cost of Rs 55 crore, is allegedly 95% complete. Officials say the only pending work is paving bitumen on approach roads, which they expect to be completed by September 15. However, residents point out that the pace of work has slowed to a crawl, undermining earlier commitments to wrap up the project by August. The ROB, meant to ease congestion between Ondipudur and SIHS Colony, has had a chequered history spanning nearly 15 years. It was first announced in November 2010 by then Chief Minister M Karunanidhi with an outlay of Rs 19.24 crore. However, the 2011 change in government saw the project stall. In 2013, it was revived with a revised budget of Rs 21.16 crore, but soon hit another roadblock with land acquisition disputes for the service road. As land owners took the matter to court, the project was put on hold yet again. While about 70% of the work, including 90% of the bridge structure, was completed, further progress was contingent on settling compensation. The deadlock ended in September 2021 when the DMK government allocated an additional Rs 29.4 crore for land acquisition. Of this, Rs 28.37 crore was paid to 63 landowners, allowing the department to resume work in February 2023.
