Tara Sutaria reveals her struggle as an outsider in Bollywood, calling her journey lonely and difficult. "I had no one to guide me or seek advice from," she shares.
Tara Sutaria, who burst onto the Bollywood scene in 2019 with Student of the Year 2, has steadily carved her own niche in the industry. But her rise has not come without its fair share of challenges. In a candid new interview with The Times of India, the actor reflected on her journey, calling it 'lonely" and 'difficult," particularly because she had no insider support to fall back on.
'When I began my career in films, I didn't know a lot of people in the industry, and I was new to a lot of this whole world of filmmaking," Tara said, recalling her early days. 'It took many years to get used to a lot of things, and to understand how the industry functions and works." She admitted that navigating the landscape without connections or mentors was especially tough. 'It has also been a very difficult and a very lonely task to manoeuvre and navigate so many things because when you're not from the inside, you don't have anybody to really discuss things with, seek advice from."
The actor pointed out how those with filmi backgrounds tend to have more access and industry insight from the start, something she had to figure out on her own. For someone who identifies as 'relatively reserved and introverted," this added another layer of complexity to her career journey.
'There have been so many instances in my career where I wish I could have had guidance, I wish I could have had people from the inside of the industry help me out," Tara revealed. 'In my experience, it's best to listen to your gut and intuition for your own career."
Now, with a few notable projects under her belt—including Marjaavaan, Ek Villain Returns, and her recent OTT appearance in Apurva—Tara says she's more focused than ever on choosing quality over quantity. She was last seen in a music video opposite Ishaan Khatter and is gearing up for Awarapan 2, where she stars alongside Emraan Hashmi.
Outside of work, Tara has also been in the headlines for her personal life. After her breakup with Aadar Jain, she is now being linked with Veer Pahariya, although neither has publicly confirmed the relationship.

Tara Sutaria Confirms Dating Veer Pahariya, Hints At Marriage: 'I'm Over The Moon'

Tara Sutaria has officially confirmed her relationship with Veer Pahariya after months of speculation and public sightings. In a candid podcast conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, the Student of the Year 2 actress blushed as she responded to the host's question about her relationship status. While she didn't name Veer directly, their numerous recent appearances together and social media interactions make it evident. 'I'm very happy right now! Yes! I'm elated over the moon," Tara gushed. When asked if she and her partner ever gaze at the moon together, she smiled and added, 'Yeah, it's actually a fun experience. Chaudhvin Ka Chand vibes." Tara and Veer's budding romance has been the talk of the town. A recent fashion show video, where Tara walked the ramp and blew a flying kiss toward Veer sitting in the front row, went viral, warming fans' hearts. Their playful Instagram banter only added fuel to the rumours. When Tara posted pictures with AP Dhillon, Veer commented, 'My," with a red heart and star emoji. Tara replied, 'Mine," adding a red heart and evil eye emoji, making their dynamic crystal clear. Opening up about marriage and love, Tara expressed her deep belief in romantic commitment. 'I'm lucky in that department. Because if I didn't love love as much as I do, and did, and always will, I mean, anyone who loves it as much as I do will be a good partner because you prioritise that above all. It's the important thing for me undoubtedly." She also offered heartfelt reflections on finding the right partner, saying, 'Don't chase love. What is yours will come. And it does come… there's a very irritating thing that people say to you when you're alone, which is, when it's the right time, it will come to you. And you get very irritated with it… Now, I think about it in retrospect. It's actually true." Tara added, 'The universe believes that I'm deserving of that love." view comments First Published: August 01, 2025, 00:36 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Saiyaara producer denies planting crying, emotionally-charged fans in theatres: ‘These are genuine fan reactions'

Mohit Suri's directorial Saiyaara has surprised many with its strong performance at the box office. Audience reactions from theatres have also been going viral on social media, with several videos showing extreme emotional responses — one person was even seen arriving at a theatre with an IV drip, while others were captured crying uncontrollably or even fainting. While many considered these reactions to be genuine, a section of the internet speculated that it was all a marketing ploy by the makers of the film, accusing them of planting fans in the audience to promote the movie. However, the film's producer has now set the record straight. In an interaction with India Today, Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani, whose banner produced the film, refuted all such claims and said, 'None of those people were planted in theatres.' He added, 'Whether it's the person on a drip, the one yelling at the screen, or the guy who took off his shirt and danced – these are genuine fans reacting with real emotions. It's funny when you start receiving calls from people telling you how much they cried, and you're actually thanking them for it. You find yourself saying, 'We're happy you cried,' because that's the kind of emotional connection Mohit has managed to create after so long. This experience of going to the cinema and feeling something so deeply – I honestly can't remember the last time it happened.' In a recent interview with SCREEN, Mohit Suri opened up about how YRF came on board as the producers of Saiyaara. 'I don't think we make our films, our films make themselves. I had directed the sequel of an action franchise — Ek Villain Returns (2022) — and it had not done well. There were a bunch of big-budget, larger-than-life movies being made around then. I was halfway through writing an action movie when I realised that so many films are blowing up helicopters and buildings. I decided to make a romantic musical with newcomers instead. I asked my assistant Sankalp Sadanah to write this movie and got Rohan Shankar to write the dialogues. One day, I bumped into Sumanna Ghosh of YRF and she asked if I've the script of a love story. Within a week, they called me and Adi Sir told me that they were looking for a movie like this,' he said. In its 13 days of release, Saiyaara has earned Rs 413 crore worldwide. It marked debut of actor Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.

Ameesha Patel Takes A Dig At Ahaan Panday's Saiyaara? Says 'Tab Organic Hit Hote The...'

Ameesha Patel stated that it is not right for people to compare "cult films" to the ones which are being released now. Looks like Ameesha Patel has taken a dig at the success of Ahaan Panday's debut movie Saiyaara. The film, which was released on July 18, has earned over Rs 270 crores at the box office as of now and is being compared to Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel. Recently, Ameesha Patel was snapped by the paparazzi in Mumbai when she claimed that films today do not enjoy 'organic" success. Even though the actress did not name Saiyaara, she stated that it is not right for people to compare 'cult films" to the ones which are being released now. 'It is wrong to compare cult films with the kind of films that are being made today. We used to have organic hits. Raj-Simran, Rohit-Sonia, Tara-Sakeena; people remember the names of these characters. Hits were not due to social media hype back then. Now, people are going to theatres because social media is creating a hype. PRs are working. People go to theatres but after two weeks, everything just stops," she said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by (@tellychakkar) This comes days after, during an 'Ask Me Anything' session on X (formerly Twitter), Ameesha was asked about Ahaan's comparisons to Hrithik. The actress stated that she hasn't watched Saiyaara yet and seemingly mocked Ahaan by saying 'baap toh baap hota hai". 'I haven't seen the film but I wish them luck. Ahaan as per is v promising actor .. but baap tho baap hai and beta tho beta hi hoga. Dugu is a WAR ahead from most of the stars … 🤣," she wrote. Meanwhile, talking about Saiyaara, the film revolves around Krish Kapoor, an aspiring singer, and Vaani Batra, a budding journalist. As their love blossoms, they find themselves up against numerous odds. Set to a soundtrack that's already winning hearts, the film blends romance, ambition, and emotional drama. The film has been getting an overwhelming response. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
