With Briony Worrall, Grecotel sales executive, easyJet holidays' head of trade distribution, Natasha Marson and TTG 's content writer Charlotte Cullinan.
Charlotte: Welcome to our In The Spotlight video with Grecotel and easyJet holidays. Today we're focusing on the beautiful Grecotel Filoxenia Kalamata, which has recently been fully renovated. So Briony, could you tell us what's new?
Briony: Absolutely. So the hotel has undergone a stunning, full renovation through our winter months. It's beautifully updated, rooms really fresh modern designs, sleek bathrooms, and the public spaces, like the lobby, restaurants and pool areas have all been transformed as well, and they create a really great, luxurious and welcoming atmosphere. But it really is the perfect blend of traditional Greek hospitality and contemporary style. And so now within the property, there are 162 rooms in total, and we've split them out into 67 suites and 95 rooms.
Charlotte: Amazing, thank you. And I know the hotel is in a prime beachfront location at the end of Kalamata Town. Talk to us a bit about the setting and also where guests can explore locally.
Briony: It's set on the most amazing, gorgeous Blue Flag beach. And guests have direct access to the sea, which is amazing. The area just feels really peaceful because it's set on the outskirts of Kalamata, but it's still just a short stroll from the centre. And that's along a gorgeous promenade – there's some tavernas and shops along the way. And then when you actually get into Kalamata City itself, there's so many cafes and bars and restaurants, it's a really vibrant town.
But if it's more history that you're after, you are less than an hour away from the archaeological site of Messene. So there really is something for everybody in this gorgeous area.
Charlotte: Brilliant. Thank you. And the property is an ideal escape for families, what are some of the key selling points agents need to know for this market?
Briony: Oh yes, it's absolutely perfect for families. Really good accommodation options. So we've got two-bedroom suites. We've got Grecoland kids' club, which is available in the majority of our properties. So that's for children aged between four and 12. And obviously younger ones can of course go in as well, but they just need to be accompanied by an adult.
We have a separate children's pool with a separate play area, but of course the beach is just the huge selling point for families because of, again, where it's based and it's in the Gulf, the water is just really calm, it's really shallow and for quite a distance. So, it's just perfect for little ones that want to paddle.
Charlotte: Lovely, thank you. And could you give us an introduction to some of the delicious dining options that you've got available?
Briony: Yes, at Grecotel we really want to encourage customers to go out and experience the local restaurants, because obviously there's so much to offer. We offer bed and breakfast and half-bored at this property. So there's the Olive Club restaurant, and that is beachfront location, absolutely perfect views.
And then we've also got the all-day pool restaurant and bar. And they've just introduced innovative day and night menus using locally sourced ingredients, which is really important for Grecotel in general, so that's really exciting for us, and it's also worth mentioning that children under 12 will of course continue to eat for free within Grecoland, and Tasty Corner at the lunch buffet, and then there's also a kids' menu at the all-day restaurant, so no matter what board basis they're on as a family, the kids under 12 always eat for free. And that's really important to us as well.
Charlotte: Thank you. Now Tash, turning to you. Everyone will now be very excited to sell this gorgeous hotel.
Natasha: It sounds amazing. Briony I'm there. Where's my ticket, when am I going?! I love it.
Charlotte: Tell us how they can book it with easyJet holidays and talk us through some of the flight options and pricing that you've got.
Natasha: I'd love to, very simply, very simply. It all sounds great and I definitely want to get myself there. Love Kalamata too. So the package prices with easyJet holidays will always include return flights from those fantastic plethora of regional departure airports, which is great. So airport transfers will be included, 23 kilograms of hold luggage. So that really simplifies it for every single one of our travellers, which is brilliant.
We will guarantee the unbeatable price, always, as easyJet holidays do, including free child places. So Briony talked lots there about all of the great key USPs for families and children. So we really want to encourage that free child place so we make it even easier and even better to book with us really.
And then there's lots of frequent flying. So Kalamata at the minute we're flying twice weekly from Manchester, which is perfect. And three times a week from London Gatwick in this summer as well, which is great.
It's a brand new revitalised property. It's gorgeous. Yeah, we're inviting guests to go to that beautiful, serene culture, Greek delicious food, Greek hospitality –all sounds absolutely amazing. Book with easyJet holidays, it'll be hassle free for your customers and super family friendly.

Northern county makes Airbnb list of top trending beach destinations in the world

WITH summer in full swing, holidaymakers are flocking to the beaches to make the most of the sun. Airbnb has revealed the trending beach destinations around the world, with the Northumberland coastline making the cut. 8 8 The northern county of Northumberland has been getting lots of attention over the summer, with plenty of pretty beaches that are usually less busy than those in the south. Airbnb said: "Northumberland is drawing more summer visitors, with searches up over 50 per cent this summer, thanks to its pristine North Atlantic beaches." One beach that's been highlighted as a must-see is Embleton Bay. It sits on the edge of the North Sea to the east of the village of Embleton. The bay has a long stretch of golden sands, cool water and it's overlooked by the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. Lots of visitors stumble across the bay and are stunned by it's beauty, one wrote on Tripadvisor: "We thought we had seen all the best beaches in Northumberland but Embleton Bay wowed us the most! "Crystal clear waters, fabulous views of Dunstanburgh Castle and acres of perfect sand and even though weather was fantastic we had the beach practically to ourselves." Another said the bay was one of Northumberland's "best kept secrets". Near Embleton Bay is a pub that has previously held the title of 'best beach bar in the UK' - it's called the Ship Inn in Low Newton-by-the-Sea. It once claimed top spot in a list of the best beach pubs in the country put together by Conde Nast Traveller. Exploring the UK's Hidden Coastal Gems 8 8 The publication said: "Low Newton-by-the-Sea is one of the prettiest spots on the Northumberland coast. "The tiny pub sits in the middle of a horseshoe of whitewashed cottages set around a village green where a cluster of trestle tables face the sea." The seaside town of Bamburgh also go a mention, and it has been dubbed the best seaside town of 2025 according to Which?. Other favourites spots along the Northumberland coastline include Alnmouth, Beadnell Bay, and Druridge Bay. Here are some of our own favourite spots across Northumberland... Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Sun writer Kevin Donald took a trip to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea - one of Britain's most budget-friendly seaside resorts. He discovered bargain places to grab a bite too like The Coble pub and Caffe Bertorelli where you can pick up a cheap ice cream. During his trip, one local said he wasn't surprised more people were visiting, he added: "The beach is stunning and there are loads of nice shops and pubs and cafes to visit but for me, the best thing about the place is the people. "They are so friendly and welcoming here that you can't help but fall for the place, it has a lovely community atmosphere." 8 Lindisfarne Sun writer Matt Dathan visited the town of Lindisfarne also know as Holy Island. The tidal island is a two square mile island and can only be accessed for around five hours a day. It looks so other-worldly that Matt said he felt as if he were leaving England. There he discovered ruins of a monastery and Lindisfarne Castle which he said has incredible views — and even includes a toilet that claims to be the 'best loo with a view'. 8 Spittal Sun writer Jenny Green took a trip up to Northumberland 's Berwick-upon-Tweed, three miles from the Scottish border. She was spoiled for choice for doggy beach walks, as there's 30 miles of beaches in Northumberland and lots are dog-friendly all year round. Her favourites spots were Alnmouth Bay where if you're lucky, you can see dolphins and whales swimming just off the coast and Bamburgh Beach which she described as looking like "something out of Game of Thrones". She also recommended checking out the quirky shops around the market towns, including one called Barter Books in Alnwick, which is a second-hand store housed in an old railway station. Other popular beach destinations that Airbnb said are on the rise include Conil de la Frontera in Spain where one Sun travel writer went a few years ago. The Spanish hotspot goes mostly unnoticed by British holiday makers, but our writer discovered pretty beaches with bars and pretty town squares. 8 The seaside town of Conil de la Frontera is known for its part in the tuna fishing industry - so there's plenty of tasty seafood dishes to try. Palermo is the capital of the Italian island of Sicily and has become another trending beach destination. Hossegor in France also known as "the surfing capital of Europe" is rising in popularity. It has plenty of beautiful beaches as well as places to shop and dine. Plus, discover the UK's sunniest beach town that feels like going back in time has 'no arcades' and barely any rain. 8

Urgent warning issued over new Paris scam - as tourists are paying THREE times more than they need to

Tourists visiting popular landmarks and attractions across Europe this summer are being warned against purchasing 'rip-off' on online marketplaces. Millions of visitors flock to European destinations each year to tick off must-see bucket list landmarks, such as the Colosseum in Rome, the Acropolis in Athens and the Louvre in Paris. But access to some of the world's most iconic and preserved sites often involves admission costs or extra fees, with many requiring pre-paid tickets for entry. However, tourists are advised to be cautious of overpriced tickets for attractions sold be third-party vendors, especially online. These tickets can be significantly more expensive than official tickets bought directly from the source, leaving visitors out of pocket before they've entered the attraction. Prominent online sites such as Viator have been accused of selling overpriced tickets for tours, attractions and activities - some costing almost three times more than those available to purchase on official sites. Viator, a subsidiary of TripAdvisor, is an online marketplace where travellers can find and book over 300,000 tours, activities, and experiences across the globe. Travellers can browse and book directly with tour operators who list the products and services on the site. It boasts flexibility, free cancellation options, and 24/7 customer support - but some are now demanding clarity on the prices listed for in-demand experiences. According to researchers at Which?, the site is offering tourists the opportunity to be escorted to a lift by a guide to ascend the Eiffel Tower in Paris - all for the cool price of £93. But according to Which?, the 'representative' simply waits with visitors in a timed ticket queue, accompanies to a lift, and exits on the second floor - leaving them to reach the summit themselves. Meanwhile, a ticket purchased directly from La Tour Eiffel, which grants visitors lift access to the top, is a third of the cost at £31. Global Tours and Tickets, the vendor selling the experience on Viator, is based in Turkey. Which? also reported finding a company based in Slovakia selling tickets to the Louvre in Paris for £40 on Viator, while tickets are available to purchase for £19 directly on the museum's website. Researches also warned that some 'skip-the-line' tickets sold on Viator may not actually grant faster access, and that customers may still face queues. Viator has received a number of poor reviews from customers in recent years, with many citing cancellations and inflated prices as causes for concern. On its website, one person wrote: 'Do not use this website. Total scam. Confirmed several items, received tickets. Then 2 days before event, they cancelled. 'Had to wait a week for my money to be put back into my account. Do not relay on them in any way to book an event.' One visitor to Rome recalled: 'Do not do this. It's a scam. You are better off booking through the website official website. We were charged 150 Euro and our friends bought the same ticket for 50 Euro and we all went in together.' Another said: 'Vatican and Sistine Chapel was great a little long in general and hot in the summer days but definitely recommended. Viator has received a number of poor reviews from customers in recent years, with many citing cancellations and inflated prices as causes for concern 'For this to be just a ticket to "skip the line" it cost double the original price of 25 euro per person. You can also buy the tickets with the original website instead of this ticket.' Meanwhile, a contributor who claimed to be a private tour operator, revealed: 'We have two tours listed on Viator and I can tell you that they take a 22% commission so to make it worthwhile we had to increase our prices for tours booked through them. 'I'd rather you book through me directly but Viator can put my new business in front of people we'd never otherwise reach so the pricing is the compromise. We're also not allowed to include photos with our logo anywhere on our listing because they want to make it harder to find the original supplier.'
