(NewsNation) — An L.A.-based rancher is taking aim at Whitney Cummings — claiming the comedian once 'lied for likes' to boost her rep after the horrendous Woolsey Fires in 2018.
Ronnie Semmler, an LA-based rancher, owns the Saddle Rock Ranch — an 1100-acre ranch in Malibu, California, which has a vineyard (where tourists can do the Malibu Wine Hikes) and is the home to LA's 'most famous giraffe,' Stanley.
Why has Usher, Steve Harvey been mentioned around Diddy's case?
Stanley, who has made regular movie and TV appearances throughout his life, including a cameo in 'The Hangover 3', is at the center of a story Semmler tells on Instagram.
In this particular story, Semmler notes: 'After the Woolsey Fire destroyed 95% of our home… we were focused on protecting what was left and taking care of our animals. During that time, Whitney Cummings trespassed, spoke to my son and daughter, was told that the animals were safe, and posted that 'everything was good.' But when it didn't get enough engagement, she flipped the story, causing a wave of attacks while we were mourning and rebuilding — a reminder that for some, clout means more than truth.'

In the video, Semmler, decked out in a cowboy hat and a pink button-down shirt, looks at the camera and says:
'Instead of dealing with my losses in the fire, I had to deal with some comedian, Whitney Cummings — who had an agenda and it wasn't about caring about anything other than herself… Two of my kids headed up to the ranch. They saw a black Tesla… and they found Whitney Cummings, a supposed comedian who had lied to the police, saying she was press to get up there.'
'She went up there with a definite agenda — nothing to do with animals… just about getting social media numbers,' Semmler said.
Cummings had apparently climbed the fence to get into Stanley's enclosure for a better shot.
'(Cummings) said she'd never had any experience with giraffes but proceeded to climb into the cage to take video of herself.' Semmler included a video Cummings had posted (inside the giraffe enclosure) saying, 'I know nothing about giraffes… are they violent?'
Cummings left after the Semmler children arrived and initially posted, 'Animals are ok.. all is fine. I'm glad I came up here to check.' The post was later deleted and changed to a reel that had a picture of Stanley, noting, 'They left Stanley the giraffe in toxic smoke! They didn't even have a plan to evacuate him…'
Another poster said, 'YOU USE THIS ANIMAL for a tourist attraction, then leave him to die? Sociopaths.'
Semmler (who included all of Cummings' posts in his video) said:
'She must have observed a huge drop in social media posts and then flipped the script… figured this would be a better way to get more views. Not to mention, everything was untrue. (The animals) were ok — and (we were) fully taking care of them and the ranch after it almost burned to the ground… Isn't it amazing how one person could lie about what she saw for her own personal benefit and do damage to my ranch and my family and create total havoc for months, if not years, to come.'

A rep for Cummings didn't return emails.
The posts did cause trouble for the Semmler family and Stanley.
According to SFGate, 'Stanley's woes began in 2018, when the Woolsey Fire tore through 96,949 acres of Malibu hillsides, including through Saddlerock Ranch. As reports emerged that Stanley and the other animals had been abandoned on the ranch during the fire, public and celebrity outcry quickly grew into an explosion of social media criticism after a photo began circulating that showed Stanley with flames behind him.'
King Charles refusing chemo, could see Harry at end of month: Insider
After the Semmler showed they had followed appropriate evacuation methods, PETA got involved, saying the giraffe's situation during the Woolsey Fire drew attention to the 'sad, lonely life he's forced to endure at Malibu Wine Safaris,' adding that he's 'just used to lure in tourists.'
According to KABC, 'The family had never obtained a required animal facility license from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control, which in turn is a requirement for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's state restricted species permit. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife cited Ron Semler in June 2020 for 'falsely certifying on his state restricted species permit applications that he was in compliance with all county laws.''
Gayle King's trip to space continues to impact 'CBS Mornings'
Stanley was later 'seized in place and the case was finally resolved in 2021 when Semmler paid $4,170 in fines and was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service.'

Under Armour highlights Maryland HBCUs in new sneaker launch

A new social media campaign from Under Armour highlights Greek life at two of Maryland's historically Black universities. For a launch of Under Armour's newest lifestyle sneaker, the UA Echo, Baltimore-based photographer Devin Allen shot the 'Sisterhood in Style' campaign on Bowie and Morgan state university campuses, according to a Monday news release from Under Armour. 'The campaign spotlights collegiate women from the nation's first Black Greek-letter sorority for college women, styled in bold, expressive looks that reflect both tradition and individuality,' it says. 'More than a product spotlight, Sisterhood in Style reflects UA's broader commitment to innovation and community, empowering the next generation to show up boldly, break boundaries, and define their own style codes,' the news release says. The UA Echo sneaker, now in a pink and green colorway, is on sale online for $150. This isn't Under Armour's only collaboration with local schools. The company donated to the athletic programs at Baltimore City College and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in October when it created new merchandise for the high schools. Have a news tip? 'Fallout' joins Universal Halloween Horror Nights 2025 details: See HHN prices and dates

'Fallout' joins Universal Halloween Horror Nights 2025 details: See HHN prices and dates Show Caption Hide Caption Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights tips for scaredy cats You don't have to like haunted houses to have fun at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2025 is shaping up to be one for the gamers. Just days after revealing that "Five Nights at Freddy's" is coming to this year's after-hours event on both coasts, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort announced, 'For the first time ever, horror fans will step into the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Prime Video's 'Fallout,'." Like "Five Nights at Freddy's," and 2023's The Last of Us house, "Fallout" began as a popular video game franchise. Thursday's house announcement comes on the same day as HHN tickets going on sale for both Orlando and Hollywood. Here's everything we know so far about this year's Halloween Horror Nights. Universal's first 'Fallout' house This new house, like its namesake show and Bethesda Game Studios video game franchise before it, is set centuries after a devastating nuclear war ravages the landscape, mutates creatures and forces humans to live in underground vaults. 'The journey begins beneath the surface in Vault 33, where guests follow vault-dweller Lucy MacLean as she escapes a bloody massacre, only to discover an evil hidden secret,' according to Universal. 'From there, visitors venture to the surface, where they must dodge attacks from Scavengers and Raiders, desperate survivors who will do anything to remain alive, as well as mutated cockroaches known as RAD Roaches.' As fans travel through a three-dimensional Wasteland, 'Fallout,' they will meet familiar settings like Super Duper Mart, 'The Ghoul, an ageless bounty hunter who has endured radiation exposure for centuries,' and a squire named Maximus equipped with T-60 armor. 'Five Nights at Freddies' surprises It's not yet clear what Universal has planned for 'Five Nights at Freddies," only sharing that it's "coming in a whole new way' with 'more details coming soon.' First a video game and book series, then a 2023 Blumhouse and Universal Pictures film with a sequel due to premiere this December, "Five Nights at Freddy's" follows animatronics from an abandoned children's pizza restaurant that come to life and kill. Universal has featured several Blumhouse films in Halloween Horror Nights experiences in recent years. Start date of Halloween Horror Nights This year's Halloween Horror Nights will start a day earlier than last year, on both coasts. Orlando's event will be held on 48 nights: Aug. 29-31 Sept. 3-7, 10-14, 16, 17, 19-21, 24-28 Oct. 1-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22-26, 29-31 Nov. 1, 2 Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights will begin Sept. 4: Sept. 4-7, 11-14, 18-21, 25-28 Oct. 2-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22-26, 29-31 Nov. 1, 2 How much does it cost to go to Halloween Horror Nights? In a break from recent years, neither event is raising its starting ticket price this year. Single-night HHN tickets start at $82.99 for Orlando and $77 for Hollywood, the same as last year. Multi-night passes are also available. Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event that is not included with standard park admission. What does Halloween Horror Nights consist of? Halloween Horror Nights is best known for its immersive themed houses and open-air scare zones. Each year, a few themes span both coasts, though they may be executed differently. Last year's shared themes were A Quiet Place, Insidious: The Further, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines. Remaining house and scare-zone themes are location-specific. Orlando usually has more houses – 10 this year – and leans into more original content, while Hollywood tends to embrace more intellectual property. Hollywood is also the only place guests can experience the Terror Tram, an HHN-specific twist on the World-Famous Studio Tour. Both events offer live entertainment, themed food, and access to select park attractions with generally shorter wait times than during the day How scary is Universal Halloween Horror Nights? Scary is subjective. Some guests aren't phased at all. Others can barely stand to open their eyes. Most guests are somewhere in between, enjoying a good scare in a safe space. Don't you dare look scared: How to survive Universal's Halloween Horror Nights Can the actors touch you at Halloween Horror Nights? They're not supposed to touch you. They may accidentally brush against you in a crowded scare zone, but they won't reach out and touch you on purpose. By the same token, guests should never touch scareactors, which is what Universal calls HHN actors. What can you not wear to Halloween Horror Nights? Guests are not allowed to wear costumes or costume masks at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Studios Hollywood has its own costume policy but also bans costume masks. Does HHN have an age limit? No, but the event's webpage says it 'may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for children under the age of 13.'
