Douglas Heads To Toronto For Penultimate Round Of USF Pro 2000 Season
Douglas heads into this weekend's double-header sitting fifth in the standings, just 44 points shy of second place. Championship leader and Douglas's Pabst Racing teammate, Max Garcia, holds a commanding 97-point lead and could clinch the title in Toronto.
The 20-year-old brings valuable experience to the Canadian street course, having raced at Toronto four times in USF2000, where he scored two top-five finishes and finished outside the top ten only once.
'This is one of my favourite tracks, and I'm so excited to get back out there,' said Douglas. 'We've had some strong results here in the past, so we'll be gunning for more this weekend.
'The championship battle from second through sixth is super tight, and a strong showing in Toronto could see Pabst Racing holding first and second in the standings.'
With five podiums this season, including a race win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and a second-placed finish last round at Mid-Ohio, Douglas is eyeing more silverware in the final stretch.
'We've shown strong pace all year, and with only four races left, there's no reason we can't add to that tally.'
Pabst Racing also leads the Team's Championship by 172 points, with the results of the top two finishers of each race per team contributing to the standings.
Following Toronto, the 2025 USF Pro 2000 season concludes in Portland, where Douglas took his maiden USF2000 victory at Portland International Raceway.
'Two tracks we're strong on to wrap up the season—looking forward to finishing with momentum on our side!' the young Kiwi added.
This weekend's USF Pro 2000 action supports the NTT IndyCar Series and kicks off with practice at 3:35 AM NZST on Saturday, followed by Qualifying 1 at 6:10 AM. Qualifying 2 takes place at 1:35 AM on Sunday, ahead of Race 1 at 8:20 AM. The weekend concludes with Race 2 at 2:20 AM on Monday morning.
Both qualifying sessions and races will be streamed live on the USF Pro Championships YouTube channel.

Jacob Douglas is a 19-year-old racecar driver from New Zealand. He is a multiple-time national champion in karting and was the 2023 USF YACademy Champion. He took 11 podiums, including seven wins, in USF 2000 machinery in the United States in 2023, before making two GB3 cameos in 2024.
He is a member of New Zealand's prestigious Elite Motorsport Academy, winning the renowned Bruce McLaren and Ian Snellgrove trophies among the Class of 2024.

Former Canada coach who spied on Football Ferns hired by Phoenix
Bev Priestman — the former Canadian women's football coach sent home from the Paris Olympics over a drone spying scandal involving New Zealand — will now coach the Wellington Phoenix women's team. Priestman's appointment to the role was announced by the club this morning, following her one-year ban for her involvement in the scandal, where staff from the Canadian team used drones to spy on New Zealand's training sessions. 'I'm thrilled to have signed with the Wellington Phoenix,' Priestman said. 'It's a fantastic club with big ambitions, world-class facilities and a phenomenal fan base. I can't wait to get to work, connect with everyone in the building and get to know our amazing fans. 'Coming back to New Zealand and seeing the Phoenix week in week out as the only professional women's team has been amazing. We have a responsibility now to fly the flag for this country and try to do something special." As coach for Canada, Priestman guided the team to a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and a bronze at the Rio games in 2016. Australian Professional Leagues executive chairman Stephen Conroy said Priestman's "experience and expertise will be a huge boost for the up-and-coming squad at the Phoenix". Priestman headed up coach development in Wellington 16 years ago before moving on to be New Zealand Football's director of football development. She said she hoped the team could "capture the imagination" of New Zealand's sporting public. 'There'll be a hunger and a desire there because we know we want to achieve a first for this club, and to do that is going to take something special." Bev Priestman, the former head coach of Canada's women's football team who was banned for her role in drone spying scandal at the Paris Olympics has been named as head coach of the Phoenix women's team. Priestman, who also guided Canada to Olympic glory in Tokyo, has signed a two year deal. She replaces Paul Temple who left following the conclusion of the last A-League season. Following an independent review of the incident by Canada Soccer Priestman was permanently stood down from the head coaching role. Phoenix Chairman Rob Morrison said the club was thrilled to have made a signing of Priestman's calibre. "We're really pleased to be able to welcome Bev back to football," Morrison said. "We all know she's had a period of time away from the game, but we understand the circumstances and we're really comfortable with this appointment. "Bev can't wait to get started and we're really happy that she's going to be coaching the Phoenix." Priestman had previously worked as head of football with New Zealand Football and mentored current Football Ferns coach Michael Mayne. In total Priestman has coached at four FIFA Women's World Cups, three Olympic Games and three FIFA youth world cups. She's twice been shortlisted for the Best FIFA women's coach award and holds the world's most prestigious coaching qualification, the UEFA pro licence. I want players to take risks, play forward, excite the fans and get them out of their seats." Morrison said the signing of Priestman is a big move for the club. "Securing Bev as head coach speaks to the ambition we have for this team. "Signing one of the world's best coaches is a statement for the club, but it is also a statement for the Ninja A-League, reflecting the ambition and investment from APL for the development of the women's game in Australasia." It is a full circle moment for Priestman, who 16 years ago headed up coach development in Wellington. She then went on to be New Zealand Football's director of football development and played a pivotal role in the award-winning Whole of Football Plan.
