Colorado fire-bomb suspect's family being held for deportation
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a social media post that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had taken Mohamed Sabry Soliman's family into custody.
Federal officials have said Mr Soliman, who lived in Colorado Springs with his wife and five children, was in the US illegally, having overstayed a tourist visa and an expired work permit.
Ms Noem said federal agents were also investigating "to what extent" his family knew about the attack, and if they provided any support.
ICE did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for more details about the detention of Mr Soliman's family.
According to local media reports, the family members include two teenagers and three younger children.
FBI and police officials said on Monday that the family had cooperated with investigators, adding Mr Soliman said he acted alone.
The White House, in a social media post, said Mr Soliman's family was in ICE's custody for "expedited removal", adding they "could be deported as early as tonight".
Department of Homeland Security officials said Mr Soliman entered the US in August 2022 on a tourist visa, filed for asylum the following month, then remained in the country after his visa expired in February 2023.
The Sunday attack in Boulder, Colorado, injured a dozen people, many of them elderly.
It targeted people at an event organised by Run for Their Lives, an organisation devoted to drawing attention to the hostages seized during Hamas's 2023 terror attack on Israel.
An affidavit said the suspect threw two lit Molotov cocktails at individuals participating in the pro-Israel gathering, yelling, "Free Palestine" as they ignited in the crowd.
Mr Soliman, 45, told investigators he wanted to "kill all Zionist people" but had delayed the attack until after his daughter graduated from high school.
He has been charged with attempted murder, assault and a federal hate crime.
Police and FBI affidavits quoted Mr Soliman as saying he took firearms training to obtain a concealed-carry permit but ended up using Molotov cocktails because his non-citizen status blocked him from buying guns.
Mr Soliman told investigators he had learned how to make the firebombs from YouTube.
Federal and local authorities have said Mr Soliman had done nothing to draw law enforcement attention prior to Sunday's attack.

Private Christian school fires teacher after ‘child sex' allegations
An American teacher at a private Christian school has been was arrested after she allegedly had sex with a child. Katelin Campbell, 34, an English teacher at the CH Friend School in Virginia, was taken into custody on Thursday, according to the New York Post. Police claim that Campbell had consensual sexual contact with a minor who is at least 15 years old, the outlet reported. Allegations against the teacher emerged after someone raised the alarm with school officials, who then reported the claims to police. Campbell has since been fired from her teaching position with the school issuing a statement on the situation. 'Within one hour of receiving this information, two members of our Board of Directors went in person to the South Boston Police Department to report what had been disclosed to the school,' Dana Jones, the headmistress of CH Friend School, told Fox News. Jones emphasised that the school prioritised integrity and child safety over reputation. 'We chose integrity instead of it being swept under the rug. Scripture is very clear that if it was done in the dark it was going to be brought to light,' Jones told local media outlet WSET. 'We understand that taking it to the police department, it was going to come shine a light on us. 'We took what we were told to them and let them carry on with their investigation.' Jones would not say whether the victim was a student at the CH Friend School but officials later confirmed the alleged victim is male. Woman allegedly beaten unconscious at Australian band's concert in California
A terrifying viral video shows a man savagely beating a woman unconscious at a concert in the Rose Bowl on Sunday night. The man can be seen pummelling a helpless woman and her friends at a show by Australian EDM band, Rüfüs Du Sol, in the famous stadium in Pasadena, California. Shelby Elston, a mum of three from Phoenix, Arizona, said she blacked out and woke up in the venue's medical tent, according to a Facebook post. Ms Elston said the conflict kicked off when her fiance accidentally spilled his drink on another concertgoer, who stormed off — only to return a half-hour later, screaming death threats. She said she put herself between the two men, and the attacker snapped, knocking her into the bleachers and pounding her again and again, even after she had been knocked out cold, the video shows. He punched two other men as the crowd pulled him off her. 'This man PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE! I was completely knocked out and there was blood pouring from my face,' Ms Elston wrote. He then 'continued to attack' her fiance and another friend, she said. She spent the rest of the concert in the venue's medical tent but made it safely back to her hotel, she said. A spokesperson for the Pasadena Police Department confirmed that a police report had been filed with the same details, but they have not arrested a suspect, who Ms Elston said 'ran off into the crowd never to be seen again'. When Rüfüs Du Sol posted a recap of the concert on Instagram, several top-level comments blasted the concert as overcrowded and dangerous. 'Dangerously oversold venue with real potential for tragedy,' one commenter wrote. 'Amazing set, horrible experience. The venue was very understaffed and we felt very unsafe. Aisles completely lined shoulder to shoulder with people, no way to get in or out,' said another. Rüfüs Du Sol issued a statement about the attack. 'Delivering moments for our fans to gather and celebrate safely is what we live for,' they said, according to the statement relayed by Rolling Stone. 'We have been heart broken to hear of the act of violence that took place during the opening act on Saturday.'
