SEC rival trying desperately to flip Texas Longhorns 5-star QB commit Dia Bell
It's been a great summer for Texas Longhorns quarterback commit Dia Bell. The five-star signal caller was the MVP of the prestigious Elite 11 QB camp and was soon elevated to the top QB recruit in the nation by every recruiting service.
The possible Arch Manning heir apparent could be the starting QB in two to three years. That is, unless a rival SEC power flips him. Bell tells Rivals' recruiting analyst Marcus Benjamin that LSU has continued to heavily recruit him even though he's committed to Texas.
The former Florida Gatorade Player of the Year says LSU has been there from the beginning and they're pushing for a visit. 'It's really LSU,' Bell told Rivals. 'They've always been there. I've always had a great relationship with [offensive coordinator] Coach [Joe] Sloan. He's still chipping away, trying to get me to come out, but I have not made any plans to visit LSU at this point.'
LSU doesn't have a QB commit in the 2026 class yet, so any resources they put into trying to flip Bell is worth it from Tigers coach Brian Kelly's perspective.
The five-star has been committed to Texas for over a year. He is the fourth Longhorns QB commit since the mid 1990s to be ranked as either the No. 1 or No. 2 overall prospect in the nation. The others were Chris Simms (1999), Vince Young (2002) and Arch Manning (2023).

Four Longhorns named to the Lombardi Award watchlist
Four Longhorns have a chance to follow in Kelvin Banks Jr. footsteps and win the Lombardi Award in 2025. Campbell, Hill, Simmons and Endries make the shortlist. Preseason watchlists continue to roll out and Texas Longhorns continue to litter just about every list. This time, it's the Lombardi Award, which goes to the best lineman in the country. There is some leeway here, with LBs being included if they are consistently within 5 yards of the LOS, as well as TEs. That opens the door for four Longhorns to find their way on the list. Anthony Hill Jr., Colin Simmons, Jack Endries and DJ Campbell are all on the watchlist. Every one of these players have been placed on these watchlists before this one, with Hill and Simmons popping up on multiple, Endries on the Biletnikoff and Mackey watchlist and DJ Campbell getting the nod for the Outland trophy watchlist. We will see if this is one that Texas can get their hands on for a second year in a row. Last year, Kelvin Banks took home the award, and the Longhorns have plenty of chances to be able to run it back. This would be Texas dominating the LOS awards, at least from an individual perspective for multiple years in a row. Colin Simmons is someone that can absolutely win this award. He's going to be a force off the edge and make a number of big time plays this year for Texas. Anthony Hill is in this, but the variability he could be used with might put the criteria in a weird spot. Nonetheless, he will be in the running for some type of award this year, if it's not the Lombardi. Jack Endries being a force in the blocking game would be a huge plus for Texas and would absolutely help his case here. DJ Campbell is best set up to make this happen if the Texas run game can take a step forward this year behind the starting RG. He is forceful and should be in the conversation here. If Texas wins the Lombardi this year, it wouldn't only be their second win in a row, but it would be the fifth Longhorn to win the award in history. The winner would be joining a great company, with Kelvin Banks Jr.(2024), Brian Orakpo(2008), Tony Degrate(1984) and Kenneth Sims(1981). We will see the semifinalists on November 4th, Finalists on Nov. 18th, and then we will see if this is one that Texas can get their hands on for a second year in a row. We will see if one of the four Longhorns can take it home again this year. Follow us on X/Twitter at @LonghornsWire.

Ryan Williams ditched nail polish this summer, but will it return for Alabama football season?
Wide receiver Ryan Williams brought a tradition of his own to Alabama football last season. "Hollywood" went viral week after week for what color his fingernails were painted, donning purple, yellow and green ahead of LSU and even going as far inking an NIL deal with polish brand Sally Hansen. However, the sophomore star's nails were noticeably bare at media day. Williams was willing to offer an explanation for the absence, and whether his iconic manicures will make another appearance this season. MORE FROM MEDIA DAY! Who wins in an Alabama football footrace: Ryan Williams or Rico Scott? 'He ain't faster than me' WHAT RYAN WILLIAMS SAID: Why Alabama football quarterback Ty Simpson 'knows he deserves to talk' this season "It's just been, you know, fall camp, and even this summer I don't think I have really," Williams said. Instead, Williams says his offseason has "just been focused on ball." Will Ryan Williams' painted nails be making a comeback for Alabama football 2025 season? As the season heats up with the first kickoff of the fall on August 30 at Florida State, is there time for the painted nails to make a comeback? "1,000 percent," Williams said. He knew exactly what question was coming next. What color is up first? Will it be the Florida State's Garnet and Gold? Could he switch it up with FSU's Seminole Heritage turquoise? Or will Williams start his second season with a traditional Crimson and White? Just like last year, it's not going to be up to him. "I've got to ask my little sister first," Williams said.
