India in command after Day 3 of U-19 Test against England at Beckenham
For England, Ekansh Singh top-scored with 59, while Ralphie Albert chipped in with a solid 50. Among the Indian bowlers, Henil Patel stood out with figures of 3/81. Young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, impressed yet again with his all-round abilities, claiming 2/35, while RS Ambrish also picked up two wickets.
England resumed the day at 230/5. The only wicket to fall in the morning session was Thomas Rew, who chased a wide delivery from Suryanvashi and edged it behind, leaving England at 338/6 by lunch, still trailing the follow-on mark by 52 runs.
Post lunch, Ekansh Singh fell trying to leave a delivery from Patel but edged it to the keeper. Albert departed soon after reaching his half-century, nicking Ambrish behind. England still required seven runs to avoid the follow-on at that point. With the run flow drying up, the pressure built, but a no-ball from Ambrish, followed by a single from Jack Home, ensured England didn't have to bat again.
Home and James Minto added 48 runs for the ninth wicket, taking the total to 416/8 at tea. However, Minto fell shortly after the break for 20, caught at square leg by a back-pedalling Maulyarajsinh Chavda. Home was the last to go, caught and bowled by Mohamed Enaan for 40, giving India a 101-run lead.
In India's second innings, Suryanvashi got going with a thick edge over the slips off Alex Green, followed by a crisp square cut and a straight six back over the bowler's head. His partner, Ayush Mhatre, contributed 32 before being caught by Ben Mayes while attempting a pull off Archie Vaughan.
Suryanvashi entertained with his wide array of strokes and scored a fluent 56 off just 44 balls before he mistimed a shot and was caught at mid-off by Ekansh Singh. Vaughan struck again soon after, removing Chavda for 3, thanks to a great catch by Jaydn Denly at midwicket.
Vihaan Malhotra remained unbeaten on 34 alongside Abhigyan Kundu, who is yet to get off the mark, as India finished the day firmly in control. (ANI)

The chief secretary has also asked department heads to evaluate the progress of the 'e-Office Light' initiative. What followed was an extremely gritty innings by the all-rounder as he scored an unbeaten 61 off 181 deliveries but could not get India over the line. Khanna said no one will remember Jadeja's innings as he could not be a hero. "We don't have a batter that can bat with tailenders. Once he was set, maybe he could have scored more runs. I think he will be thinking that he could have made more strokes. When the ball gets soft, Bumrah, Siraj will not be scoring runs, you have to win the match and be a hero. People will forget this 60 (61) not out," Khanna told IANS.

Chasing 193, the India top-order struggled massively and although Ravindra Jadeja did slam a gritty half-century, the visitors fell 22 runs short of the target. Ashwin said that Jadeja should have taken a bit more risk when it comes to the run chase but praised him for his stunning effort that showed batters can play Test cricket with patience. "I was messaging a big cricketer throughout the match. I won't take his name, but both of us were discussing the match. Both of us felt that Jadeja should have probably taken a little more risk, but not a lot. The way he played, hats off! Ashwin further said that both Jadeja and Siraj should have targeted Shoaib Bashir rather than constantly defending the deliveries. Both batters tried to play out the balls but Ashwin believed that a slightly more aggressive approach could have helped them to relieving the pressure. "He could have picked one moment with Siraj and asked him to go after Bashir because Siraj can hit a clean ball. He can hit a spinner to the leg side with the slope," Ashwin said. Legendary India skipper Anil Kumble also echoed similar sentiments as Ashwin. "I was just reminded of one Test match where I lost by 12 runs against Pakistan in Chennai. It (Siraj's dismissal) was a similar kind of dismissal. Just 22 runs. Jadeja left stranded. I mean, he planned to get India this close to winning. But England just stuck to their task," Kumble, who was a part of that line-up in Chennai, said on 'JioHotstar'.
