Mass. law enforcement team arrests suspect linked to drug trafficking
LAWRENCE, Mass. (WWLP) – A joint law enforcement team comprised of members of the Mass. State Police, Lawrence Police, and Drug Enforcement Administration arrested a man from the Dominican Republic last Thursday in connection with an alleged drug trafficking operation.
Massachusetts State Police said that the team was investigating a methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking operation that had been linked to a man under suspicion of using a false identity. Law enforcement officials were able to obtain a warrant for the suspect's residence on Bailey Street in Lawrence.
Berkshire DA's Office takes down large-scale narcotics trafficking ring
When officers entered the home, they located two individuals including the suspect. The search proved successful, as police found large quantities of narcotics of different varieties, three firearms hidden in furniture, narcotic packaging material, and about $15,000 in cash.
Police said that documents were also discovered, including a foreign passport that was used to identify the suspect as 32-year-old Xavier Jose Perez-Tejeda of the Dominican Republic.
During the operation, officials seized the following evidence (weights are approximate):
12 kilograms of powdered Fentanyl
1.6 pounds of Methamphetamine
286 grams of pressed Fentanyl pills
96 grams of pressed Methamphetamine pills
83 grams of Cocaine
Glock 22 pistol containing 14 rounds of ammunition
Kel Tec 9mm pistol containing 8 rounds of ammunition
Charter Arms 38 Special revolver containing 5 rounds of ammunition
Perez-Tejeda was arrested and brought to the Andover Barracks for booking, and was arraigned in Lawrence District Court. Charges have not yet been released to the public.

Springfield man to be sentenced in Chicopee murder case
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Springfield is set to be sentenced to prison on Friday. Springfield man arrested after six-hour standoff on Byers Street Kaysone Walters was found guilty in the killing of 25-year-old Brianne Boiselle back in August of 2021. On August 11th, Boisselle was found on Baldwin Street in Springfield with several stab wounds and died from her injuries. An investigation led Springfield Police to apply for an arrest warrant for Walters, who was believed to be the suspect in the alleged murder and armed carjacking. Springfield police along with the U.S. Marshals Service, State Police and the Hampden County Sheriff's Department later learned that Walters left the state and was in Lakeland, Florida. On October 7th, the U.S. Marshals Florida Task Force went to Lakeland and spotted Walters attempting to run away. He was caught and arrested by the officers. Walter was charged with Fugitive from Justice Warrant and was brought back to Massachusetts to face murder charges. San Diego authorities arrest 3 noncitizens allegedly involved in transporting more than $5M worth of meth
Federal and local authorities in San Diego arrested three men in the U.S. illegally – two from Mexico and one from El Salvador – after they allegedly transported nearly 8,000 pounds of methamphetamine worth more than $5 million earlier this week. The incident took place on Monday around 7 p.m. during a joint narcotics investigation in the South Bay region, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday evening. SDCSO detectives and U.S. Border Patrol agents observed three vehicles they believed were being loaded with bundles of drugs. A federal complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of California said the vehicles were being loaded in a parking lot on Otay Mesa Road. Two of those vehicles were driven toward a motel in San Ysidro, while the third vehicle went to a motel in Chula Vista, the sheriff's office said. All three drivers were ultimately arrested. They were identified by the Justice Department as 27-year-old Erick Omar Arriola, of El Salvador, and Mexican nationals Eugenio Lizama, 35, and Baltazar Rodriguez Reyes, 49. Arriola is a felon convicted of driving under the influence, battery of a spouse and false imprisonment, the DOJ said. When authorities searched their vehicles, they found a total of 61 bundles of methamphetamine, weighing more than 7,700 pounds and valued at around $5.5 million. "It was one of the biggest seizures of methamphetamine in 2025 in the Southern District of California, and the most significant so far by the new Homeland Security Task Force San Diego, which was recently established by the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security at the request of President Trump," the DOJ said. All three men were booked into the San Diego Central Jail and face charges related to conspiracy, transportation and possession of controlled substances for sales.

Springfield Police warn of suspicious panhandling soliciting donations for fake child funeral
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police are warning residents about panhandlers seen in the city using. Springfield takes action against illegal 'Gas Station Weed' According to a message posted Thursday on the department's official Facebook page, individuals were spotted at the intersection of State Street and Walnut Street claiming to be collecting donations for the funeral of a deceased child. Police say they have encountered this type of panhandling before and, to date, none of the similar cases are legitimate. 'Warning: We have once again spotted individuals panhandling under the guise of raising money for a funeral for a child who died,' the post reads. 'We have yet to see one of these solicitations being legitimate.' Police emphasized that while the practice is misleading, panhandlers are legally allowed to solicit donations on public sidewalks as long as they do not step into the roadway or act aggressively. The legality of their signage, regardless of whether the content is truthful, is not regulated unless other laws are being violated. 'If you do come across this, please be mindful of these types of solicitations,' the department advised. Residents who feel unsure about the authenticity of fundraising efforts are encouraged to donate directly to verified charities or check for legitimate online fundraisers with identifiable contacts.
