Buy or sell: Vaishali Parekh recommends three stocks to buy today after ease in Israel-Iran war

Buy or sell stocks: Following the geopolitical tension caused by the Israel-Iran war, the Indian stock market witnessed intense selling pressure on Monday. The Nifty 50 index crashed 140 points and closed at 24,971, the BSE Sensex shed 511 points and closed at 81,896, while the Bank Nifty index finished 193 points lower at 56,059. Trent, BEL, and Hindalco emerged as the top gainers on the Nifty, while Infosys, HCL Technologies, and Larsen & Toubro were the session's biggest laggards. NSE cash market volumes declined 19% compared to the 10-day average.
The Indian Rupee weakened 17 paise against the US Dollar, closing at 86.75—its lowest level since March 17. This depreciation stemmed from surging crude oil prices following US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, combined with a strengthening Dollar Index and weak domestic equity performance. The Mid-cap and the Small-cap indices defied the broader market decline. The Nifty Mid-cap 100 Index advanced 0.36%, while the Nifty Small-cap 100 Index gained 0.70%. Nifty Media, Consumer Durables, and Metals posted substantial gains, highlighting pockets of resilience. IT, Auto, and FMCG sectors closed sharply lower, weighing heavily on the benchmark index.
Vaishali Parekh, Vice President of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher, believes the Indian stock market bias has become cautious as the Nifty 50 index failed to break the hurdle at the 25,200 to 25,250 levels. The Prabhudas Lilladher expert said the key benchmark index slipping below 25,000 levels after the profit-booking trigger may put doubt into the minds of bulls. However, 24,800 to 24,750 may continue to provide strong support to the 50-stock index.
Speaking on the outlook of the Nifty 50 today, Vaishali Parekh said, "The Nifty 50 index, after opening on a weak note near the 24,950 zone, witnessed fluctuations during the session on the back of geopolitical turmoil and closed in the red below the 25,000 zone with sentiment maintained with a very cautious approach. The index has witnessed a strong resistance near the 25,200 zones, whereas, on the downside, the 24,700 level would be the crucial near-term support that needs to be sustained to maintain the overall bias intact."
"The Bank Nifty index opening on the lower end remained passive near the 55900 zone, whereas the post-lunch session witnessed some pullback to move past the 56000 level to minimise the losses. The index needs to indicate a clear breakout above the 56200-56300 zone to trigger a fresh upward move with the 55000 zone, on the downside maintained as the important and crucial near-term support, which needs to be sustained as of now," said Parekh.
Parekh said that today, support for the Nifty is at 24,800 levels, while resistance is at 25,200. The Bank Nifty will have a daily range of 55,500-56,500.
Regarding stocks to buy today, Vaishali Parekh recommended these three buy or sell stocks: Hi-Tech Pipes, ideaForge Technology, and Black Box.
1] Hi-Tech Pipes: Buy at ₹ 98, Target ₹ 110, Stop Loss ₹ 94;
2] ideaForge Technology: Buy at ₹ 631, Target ₹ 660, Stop Loss ₹ 610; and
3] Black Box: Buy at ₹ 490, Target ₹ 530, Stop Loss ₹ 480.

India retained top spot among EMs in May, but Thailand offered stiff competition

India retained the top position in Mint's Emerging Markets Tracker for the second consecutive month in May, but with its lead significantly narrowed. While India scored 67 (out of 100) in the tracker's composite score, Thailand was a close second at 66.6. India's top rank was due to its fastest GDP growth and strongest manufacturing activity among emerging markets, and continued gains in the stock market. However, it lost its margin compared to April, when it scored 87.9 and the Philippines came second at 68.2. This was due to deteriorating export growth, currency movement and a lower stock market capitalisation. Malaysia retained the third spot, supported by a strong currency. Export growth remained strong and inflation stayed stable. Also read: Hormuz heat rises: Can India weather an oil shock? Launched in September 2019, Mint's Emerging Markets Tracker provides a summary of economic activity across 10 large emerging markets based on seven high-frequency indicators: real GDP growth, manufacturing PMI, export growth, retail inflation, import cover, exchange rate movement, and stock market. The rankings are provisional as the scores will get updated once all latest data is available. Methodology note: The tracker is a monthly summary of economic activity across nine large emerging markets based on seven high-frequency indicators. Latest available data is used. On each indicator, the best-performing economy gets a score of 100, the worst one gets zero, and the others get linearly-interpolated relative scores. A country's composite index score is the simple average of its seven indicator scores. Earlier, the tracker had a 10th country, Russia, but it has been dropped temporarily as some data has not been reliably available since the Ukraine war began. Sharp recovery in INR supported by deep decline in oil prices; dollar pullback

The Indian rupee witnessed a sharp rebound against the dollar in opening trades on Tuesday tracking a pullback in dollar and deep decline in international crude oil prices. WTI crude oil futures are down around 2.5% in early Asia on Tuesday following a sharp plunge by over 7% in the previous session as President Trumps announced that a ceasefire has been agreed upon between Iran and Israel. Meanwhile, dollar dropped from a 3-week high after Fed Governor Bowman and Chicago Fed President Goolsbee said they favored a Fed rate cut at next months FOMC meeting. INR opened at Rs 86.07 per dollar but pared gains to be currently quoting at 86.11. Yesterday, rupee plunged 23 paise to close at a five-month low of 86.78 against the US dollar amid a strengthening dollar and volatile crude oil prices following the US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. A sharp decline in the domestic equity markets further pressured the rupee. Indian shares fell on Monday, but ended off their day's lows as markets apparently took the U.S. strikes against nuclear targets in Iran in their stride and waited to see how Iran reacts and what happens to Tehran's nuclear program. The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex hit an intraday low of 81,476.76 before closing down 511.38 points, or 0.62 percent, at 81,896.79. The broader NSE Nifty index ended down 140.50 points, or 0.56 percent, at 24,971.90, after having hit a low of 24,824.85 earlier. On the NSE, USDINR futures ended higher by 0.14% at 86.78.
