BHIWANI: A fresh controversy has erupted following a controversial remark made by Ramchandra Jangra, a BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana, regarding the wives of those killed in the
Pahalgam terror attack
.
Speaking at an event, he said that the women who lost their husbands in the attack lacked the courage and spirit of warrior women, and that is why 26 people were killed.
According to him, the tourists died with folded hands. He further claimed that if they had received training under the Prime Minister's schemes and confronted the terrorists, the number of deaths would have been lower.
The MP made these comments on Saturday while addressing a district symposium organised in Bhiwani's Panchayat Bhawan as part of the Ahilyabai Holkar Tricentennial Memorial Campaign.
Jangra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a significant initiative (referring to Agniveer) to instil a sense of bravery among the youth. 'After the Pahalgam attack, the entire country feels that if the kind of training PM Modi wants to provide to the youth had been available to the tourists, then three terrorists could not have killed 26 people,' he said.
'If the tourists had even sticks or rods in their hands and had charged at the terrorists from all sides, I claim that perhaps only five or six would have died but all three terrorists would have been killed as well,' he added.

The Pahalgam terror attack took place on April 22 in the Baisaran Valley, where terrorists opened fire and killed 26 tourists.
After the symposium, MP Ramchandra Jangra avoided answering questions about the identification and arrest of the attackers. He said that even if the attackers have not been caught, the army has destroyed their bases and handlers. Reiterating his statements while addressing the gathering, he added that if the women present at the scene had fought back like Rani of Jhansi or Ahilyabai Holkar, the number of casualties would have been less.
Jangra is not the first leader in the list who made derogatory and shameless remarks on women as, a BJP minister, Vijay Shah from Madhya Pradesh, also came to light after making comments on Colonel Sophia.
However, he later tendered an apology after courts took action on the matter.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has declined an urgent hearing request from the Tamil Nadu government regarding their plea against the central government. The state claims that Rs 2,151 crore in central education funds under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme for 2024-2025 is being withheld by the Centre. The state government sought immediate intervention from the Supreme Court in this matter on Monday. The dispute centers around the allocation and disbursement of funds meant for education initiatives in Tamil Nadu under the federal education scheme. A bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Manmohan took note of the fact that the state government filed the petition in May alleging withholding of central funds for 2024 and this year also. "There is no urgency and it can be taken up after the 'partial working days' (the new name of summer vacation)," the bench said. In May, the Tamil Nadu government moved the top court against the Centre for allegedly withholding the funds. The top court, therefore, was urged to declare that the NEP and the PM SHRI Schools Scheme are not binding on the plaintiff state unless and until a formal agreement is entered into between the plaintiff and the defendant for their implementation within Tamil Nadu . The lawsuit has also sought a declaration that the action of the Centre to link Tamil Nadu's entitlement to receive funds under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme to the implementation of the NEP, 2020, and the PM SHRI Schools Scheme within the state are unconstitutional, illegal, arbitrary, unreasonable . The plea said despite this approval, no instalments have been disbursed by the Centre as yet. The Centre, it said, unilaterally linked the release of these funds to Tamil Nadu's full implementation of NEP 2020 and the signing of an MoU for the PM SHRI Schools Scheme, conditions which were neither part of the original Samagra Shiksha Scheme nor agreed upon by the state. The reason for such non-disbursement is that the defendant has linked the release of Samagra Shiksha Scheme funds with the implementation of national education policy and NEP exemplary PM SHRI Schools' Scheme despite the fact that these policy/scheme are separate schemes, it said. Referring to the impact of non-release of Samagra Shiksha funds, the plea said paying salaries was crucial in maintaining competent and motivated teachers and supporting staff. A damaged drone falls from the sky towards the wet ground near a large electronics factory emitting steam. Work at an electronics factory in Russia's Chuvashia region, some 600 kilometres east of Moscow, was briefly suspended on Monday due to falling Ukrainian drones, local officials said. "This morning, Ukrainian attempts to use drones in Chuvashia were detected," regional governor Oleg Nikolayev wrote on Telegram, adding that there were no victims from the attack. Ukraine regularly launches drone attacks on Russia in response to aerial bombardments by Moscow, which began a full-scale offensive into Ukrainian territory more than three years ago. "Two drones fell on the territory of the VNIIR factory," said Nikolayev. The VNIIR facility is one of the main factories producing electronic components in Russia. A decision was taken to "temporarily suspend production to ensure the safety of employees", the governor added. Two drones fell into fields in the region without causing any danger to people, Nikolayev said. "The situation is entirely under control," he added. The dog, a wolf–Caucasian Shepherd cross by the name Cadaboms Okami, was said to have been imported from the United States and stood at nearly 75 kilograms, being amazingly overpriced, capturing headlines all over the country. However, it must be noted that the ₹50 crore price is unsubstantiated and widely contested in the wake of ongoing investigations. As per the Economic Times, breeder S. Satish, who is the head of the Indian Dog Breeders Association, owns a kennel, which reportedly houses more than 150 breeds of dogs. Satish displayed Okami at different exhibitions where he would charge exorbitant fees for appearances and photography. Okami was said to be fed approximately 3 kilograms of raw meat every day and stayed in a kennel built especially at Satish's seven-acre estate in Bengaluru with dedicated handlers.
