Ravel Morrison joins ex-Man United and Chelsea stars on new PFA transfer list as he eyes English football comeback after playing for 14 clubs in as many years

Daily Mail05-08-2025
Ravel Morrison has been named as a surprise inclusion in the list of free agents that will attend week six of the PFA's pre-season training as he eyes a return to English football.
The United academy product - who played alongside the like of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard - was tipped to be a future first-team star but struggled to live up to expectations.
He ultimately left the club in 2012, after concerns over off the field problems and number of injures, before he eventually joined West Ham.
Back in September, Morrison signed for the 14th club of his rollercoaster career - Precision FC in Dubai - but is now unattached again and eyeing a return to English football.
This summer, the PFA - the Professional Footballers' Association - have been putting on training camps for free agents looking to stay fit and play games while they don't have a club to do that with.
And Morrison has been included on the Association's list for the sixth week of the camp, joining 21 other players including a fellow ex-Manchester United star and a former Chelsea man.
Alongside Morrison is former United academy player Ryan Tunnicliffe, who played with Morrison in United's FA Youth Cup-winning team of 2011. He has since featured for the likes of Fulham and Portsmouth.
As is Jamal Blackman, formerly of Chelsea, while the likes of Jake Cain were formerly on Liverpool's books.
Morrison hasn't played in England since the 2021-22 season, when he was on Derby County's books.
He is now 32, but went to the United States to play for DC United, while he has also turned out for the likes of Lazio, QPR and West Ham in his career. He also played in the Baller League.
An England youth international up to Under-21 level, meanwhile, Morrison has also been playing for Jamaica, who are managed by former Three Lions boss Steve McClaren.
Earlier this year, he pleaded with English clubs to take a chance on him despite his reputation. He told The Athletic: 'I do believe I can play in the Championship, easy. The frustrating thing is I'm not getting the opportunity.
'My agent has spoken to a lot of sporting directors, chief scouts and heads of recruitment, and we've got really close to an agreement.
'Then they get the manager's opinion and it becomes, "Ah, but he's done this, he's done that", and they are speaking about things that happened when I was a kid.
The PFA have named a 22-man squad for the training camp on week six of their summer camp
'Time has moved on, it's over a decade ago. But it's crazy sometimes how people don't move on.
'So many people have formed an opinion about me, but those opinions are based on things that happened 10 to 15 years ago.
'I'm 32 now. I've played football around the world and had a good career. I'm not a kid of 16 or 17 anymore.

Yves Bissouma axed by Tottenham for Super Cup over disciplinary issue

Yves Bissouma has been left out of Tottenham's Super Cup squad for disciplinary reasons in an unhelpful distraction to Thomas Frank's attempt to mark his debut with silverware. Frank will take charge of his first competitive match as Spurs head coach on Wednesday at Stadio Friuli in Udine and could lift a trophy if they can upset Champions League winners Paris St Germain. Advertisement Bissouma has been left at home after being late 'several times' this summer, but Frank has Dominic Solanke available and will aim to mark his Tottenham bow with further cup glory after predecessor Ange Postecoglou masterminded Europa League success in May. 'I think for the team, for me, for everybody involved at Tottenham Hotspur, it's a massive game,' Frank reflected. 'A great challenge and an even bigger opportunity. That's how my brain works, I see opportunities instead of pressure or whatever. So for me, massive opportunity and we will definitely embrace it. 'My players, our players, they just won a big trophy six or seven weeks ago, so they had a fantastic experience of doing that and they want to win more. Advertisement 'It was a great feeling, everything I heard about it, fantastic experience, so the players will be ready.' Even though PSG only returned to pre-season training last Wednesday following the Club World Cup, Spurs enter this fixture under-strength with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski long-term absentees and Destiny Udogie still sidelined. It makes the omission of Bissouma all the more eye-catching and could spell the end of his time at the club given the Mali international, who started the Europa League final, is into the final 12 months of his contract. Frank explained: 'Bissouma has not travelled with the team because of disciplinary reasons. Advertisement 'He has been late several times and the latest time was one too many. 'With everything you need to give your players a lot of love but also have demands and there also need to be consequences and this time there was a consequence for that. 'I will follow up when I come home. I will park it now because there is a relatively important game for tomorrow.' Summer recruits Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus are expected to make their debuts against PSG but Frank will largely turn to the squad that ended Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought under Postecoglou. Advertisement Guglielmo Vicario was a key figure in their Europa League run and acknowledged how special it will be to play for a trophy in his home city of Udine. 'Personally, it will be an emotional day but as soon as we get close to kick-off emotions have to stay away and we have to be focused on what we have to deliver on the pitch,' Vicario promised. 'It will be an amazing game and we need to be ready to win. 'We have set the tone and we want to repeat and to do it again. We have tasted the feeling and this feeling is amazing so we want to do it again and we have the opportunity tomorrow with another European final.' Tottenham will announce their new captain on Wednesday after Son Heung-min left to join Los Angeles. Advertisement Ben Davies, Spurs' longest-serving player after his 2015 arrival, added: 'We lost Sonny and he was a big part of the dressing room and obviously a huge player for us. 'We are definitely going to feel his loss but ultimately the senior guys in this team have to be here to support everyone.'
