Producer Shilpa Dhawan confirms Hombale Films' commitment to all films in the Mahavatar Universe, starting with Mahavatar Narsimha. .
The mythological action epic Mahavatar Narsimha has been winning over audiences since its release, drawing praise for its ambitious storytelling, spectacular visual scale, and cultural depth. But according to producer Shilpa Dhawan, the film's debut is just the beginning of an expansive cinematic journey.
At a recent press conference, Dhawan — who also happens to be the wife of director Ashwin Kumar — revealed a major development that underscores the confidence behind the project. 'When we first reached out to Hombale Films, they immediately came on board for all films of the Mahavatar Universe. They wanted to back the entire universe," she said. 'That kind of conviction gave us the confidence to announce all the films before even releasing the first."
Building a Mythological Universe
The partnership between Shilpa Dhawan's Kleem Productions and powerhouse studio Hombale Films is set to shape one of India's most ambitious cinematic universes, rooted in the legends of Lord Vishnu's ten avatars. Mahavatar Narsimha — which brings to life the fierce, divine half-man, half-lion incarnation of Vishnu — serves as the opening chapter in a saga that will span over a decade and traverse multiple timelines and avatars.
The officially announced lineup for the Mahavatar Universe includes:
Mahavatar Narsimha (2025)
Mahavatar Parshuram (2027)
Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029)
Mahavatar Dwarkadhish (2031)
Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033)
Mahavatar Kalki – Part 1 (2035)
Mahavatar Kalki – Part 2 (2037)
Each installment will focus on a different divine incarnation, weaving together an interconnected mythological narrative on a scale rarely seen in Indian cinema.
A Grand Vision Backed by a Powerhouse
Directed by Ashwin Kumar and produced by Shilpa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai under Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narsimha is presented by Hombale Films — the studio behind some of India's most celebrated blockbusters. Known for delivering high-quality, culturally resonant content, Hombale Films' commitment to the entire Mahavatar slate marks a significant endorsement of the franchise's potential.
The film promises unmatched visual grandeur, meticulous world-building, and an emotionally powerful narrative steeped in mythology. To enhance its cinematic impact, Mahavatar Narsimha will be released in 3D and in five Indian languages, aiming to reach audiences across regions and generations.
With its theatrical release set for July 25, 2025, the film is expected to not only captivate viewers with its spectacular action and divine lore but also lay the foundation for one of India's most enduring and visually stunning mythological sagas.
As Shilpa Dhawan's announcement makes clear, the Mahavatar Universe isn't just a series of films — it's a decade-long creative vision, powered by unwavering conviction and an ambition to bring the grandeur of Indian mythology to the global stage.

Fahadh Faasil recalls losing film with Oscar-winning director Alejandro Inarritu

Fahadh Faasil, one of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema, has shared that he was in discussions for a role in an international project directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, known for 'The Revenant' and 'Birdman'. Speaking in a new interview with Cue Studio, the Malayalam actor shared that the opportunity didn't materialise due to issues with his was not like he rejected me, but it was the accent that he was concerned about. To perfect the accent, I was told to go to the US and stay there for three or four months. But they weren't ready to pay for that. That's why I skipped it. Otherwise, I would have gone running. The commercial aspects of it wouldn't have worked out. I didn't feel that kind of fire for it to do so much for my accent,' Fahadh explained. The actor further added, 'I spoke to him on a video call. It might be during that conversation that he also realised, 'Oh, this isn't the guy I'm looking for.' Such things happen. There have been many films I lost during such meetings. All the magic in my life happened here in Malayalam. So, even in the future, if any new changes were to happen, I want them to come from Malayalam. I don't think I will leave Kerala for that. If a project emerges that redefines me in some way, I want it to be in Malayalam.'While Fahadh did not disclose the exact project, Inarritu's upcoming untitled film, starring Tom Cruise, is slated for release in October 2026. The movie follows the story of the 'most powerful man in the world' on a desperate mission to prove he can save humanity from a disaster of his own making. The ensemble cast includes Sandra Huller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz was last seen in 'Maareesan' and will next appear in the romantic comedy 'OKCK', which is set to hit theatres on August 29.- EndsMust Watch

Coolie Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna's film nears Rs 300 crore in 3 days, overseas century seals top-3 spot

Superstar Rajinikanth's Coolie has set theatres buzzing in 2025. While Hindi audiences have given it only a fair response, the film is ruling in Tamil and other languages. Overseas, it's a full-blown storm. According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 38.50 crore in India on its third day, which was a drop of Rs 16.25 crore compared to the day before. Still, the numbers remain solid, taking its domestic three-day total to Rs 158.25 crore. What about the worldwide box office? The real surprise lies overseas. Within two days, Coolie had already collected Rs 103.25 crore internationally. Fans abroad are making Rajini's 50th year in cinema unforgettable. Add that to its Indian numbers, and the worldwide total after three days has touched Rs 283.50 crore. With a budget in the range of Rs 350–400 crore, the film is already inching close to its cost within the opening weekend itself. Is Coolie one of Rajini's biggest hits? Yes. In just three days, Coolie has become the third biggest film of Rajinikanth's career. The only two films ahead are Jailer with Rs 605 crore and 2.0 with Rs 675 crore. Even without day 3's overseas numbers, Coolie is well on track to cross the Rs 300 crore mark, which would cement its place among his all-time blockbusters. Why does the overseas response matter so much? Rajinikanth's magic has always had a global pull. In recent years, international markets have played a key role in pushing his films into record-breaking zones. With Coolie, the trend continues, as audiences outside India have already delivered a century in just two days. By conservative estimates, even if the film adds Rs 12–20 crore from overseas on day 3, the worldwide tally could rise to Rs 295–300 crore. The bigger picture Coolie isn't just another release—it's Rajinikanth's celebration of 50 years in cinema. The film is already his third biggest grosser and is well-positioned to challenge Jailer and 2.0 in the weeks to come. Whether it becomes 2025's top earner or not, one thing is certain—Rajini's storm has once again shaken Indian cinema.
