CM's visit: DC reviews arrangements
Addressing district officials through a teleconference on Tuesday evening, the Collector emphasised the need for seamless coordination among departments to ensure the success of the high-level visit.
The Collector informed that the Chief Minister is expected to arrive at Kurnool Airport from New Delhi at around 11 am on July 17. Following his arrival, he will proceed to Malyala in Nandyal district to inaugurate the water release from the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project and will later address a public meeting. After concluding the event, the Chief Minister will return to Kurnool Airport and depart for Vijayawada. The Collector noted that these are the tentative details of the tour. To ensure smooth execution, the Collector directed the Additional SP to oversee security arrangements at the airport. He also instructed the DRO, Kurnool RDO and Orvakal tahsildar to follow protocol-related responsibilities.
Medical teams, ambulances and a designated safe room should be kept ready at the airport, as per instructions to the in-charge DMHO andGGH Superintendent.
The Fire Department was directed to station fire engines on standby, while the DTC was asked to coordinate with the police department for convoy management. The teleconference was attended by officials including Additional SP Hussain Peera, DRO C Venkata Narayanamma, Kurnool RDO Sandeep Kumar, Dr Bhaskar Raju and DTC Shanta Kumari.

Utilise govt welfare schemes, tribal communities urged
Kurnool: During the World Tribal Day celebrations, district Collector P Ranjith Basha urged tribal communities to take full advantage of government welfare programmes. Speaking at the Sunayana Auditorium on Saturday, he highlighted that the day, observed annually on August 9, raises awareness of tribal culture and rights, aiming to address their issues through focused government action. Drawing from his past experience as the Director of Tribal Welfare Department, the Collector recalled that 508 tandas were declared panchayats in a single day, enabling local self-governance. He also noted that in 2018–19, the state received 11 national awards for laying CC roads in small tandas. This year, Kurnool leads the State by laying CC roads worth Rs 120 crore, providing connectivity to 14 previously isolated villages, with plans for the remaining 15 underway. The Collector also shared successes in education and social welfare. Tribal welfare schools achieved an impressive 94% pass rate in Class 10, surpassing the district average of 86%. He encouraged tribal students to pursue education diligently, emphasizing its importance for their future. Additionally, he mentioned that Rs 8 crore was spent on repairing social welfare hostels, and under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Kurnool secured Rs 4 crore in compensation and jobs for victims, a first for the state. He assured tribal leaders that his administration would address their concerns and help communities fully benefit from available schemes. Pattikonda MLA KE Shyam Kumar also spoke, noting that tandas with a tribal population of 500 were declared village panchayats, which brought self-administration and panchayat funds to these areas. He pledged to resolve fluoride contamination by establishing RRO plants and encouraged students to find inspiration in successful professionals. He also highlighted the Palle Kranti scheme, which offers a 100% subsidy for ST beneficiaries to set up solar plants. The event concluded with awards for top-performing tribal students and the felicitation of tribal association leaders.

Kalvabugga Gurukula school's alumni reunion today
Kalvabugga (Kurnool district): The Gurukula School, Kalvabugga in Kurnool district, will host its annual alumni reunion 'Samyama' on Sunday (August 10), under the aegis of the 1993 and 1999 batches. Alumni Association president Pulakurthy Raghavendra Reddy told The Hans India on Saturday that the event, a tradition observed every year, aims to bring together past students, teachers, and well-wishers to celebrate the school's legacy and foster continued camaraderie among its members. Focus on solving drinking water issues: Collector
Kurnool: In a significant step towards resolving drinking water issues in rural areas, District Collector P Ranjith Basha has stated that special attention is being directed towards ensuring safe and adequate drinking water supply across the district. On Tuesday, the Collector, along with Panyam MLA Gauri Charitha, laid the foundation stone for new overhead storage water tanks at Kalva village in Orvakal mandal. The project, undertaken under the Jal Jeevan Mission, involves the construction of two overhead water tanks with a combined capacity of 90 kiloliters and 40 kiloliters. The total cost of the initiative is Rs 1.12 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector noted that funds from Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad, and Gram Panchayats are being effectively utilised to address water-related challenges in rural habitations. He instructed officials to expedite the works and ensure early completion to eliminate drinking water scarcity in Kalva. Addressing the gathering, MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy reiterated the State Government's commitment to public welfare and district-level development. She highlighted the efforts being made through the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide sustainable drinking water infrastructure in villages. Residents of Kalva expressed their gratitude to the MLA for initiating the project and welcomed the government's intervention. Earlier in the day, the Collector, MLA, and TTD Board members visited the Koneti Anjaneya Swamy Temple in the village and offered prayers. During the visit, the Collector was briefed on the condition of the adjoining temple pond (Koneru), and he assured necessary steps would be taken for its restoration and development. Among those present at the event were TTD Board Member Mallela Rajashekar, ZP CEO Nasar Reddy, Orvakal Mandal Special Officer and DWAMA PD Venkataramanayya, Kurnool RDO Sandeep, Orvakal Tahsildar Vidyasagar, MPDO Srinivasulu, RWS DE Amal, and RWS AE Srinivasulu.
