Threads Will Now Let You Hide Spoilers, but Logging Off Is Still Free

If you're one of those people who refuses to look at social media out of fear of spoilers, Meta's Instagram-adjacent Threads app has a solution it hopes will keep you doomscrolling anyway. The new tool will let people mark words in their posts as 'spoilers,' preventing eyeballs who haven't yet watched, say, a certain episode of The Last of Us from learning a certain beloved main character's grisly fate. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the feature 'let users hide text or images that spoil a piece of entertainment (or anything that can be spoiled), simply by marking it as a spoiler. When a user marks it a spoiler, the text or image will be blurred until whoever is seeing the post selects it and asks to know more.' That sounds similar to Reddit's feature that lets users hide potentially spoiler-y text when posting in forums discussing recent TV shows, for instance. So far, Threads is the only social media platform to offer such an option; X and BlueSky, THR points out, do not have anti-spoiler tools in place. In theory, it's a great idea. However, it's on the person posting to deploy the feature, which means it's up to individuals to decide what they think is a spoiler and what's not—as well as what an acceptable 'window' is for blabbing about a major plot twist. For some, it might be a week; others, it might be 'as soon as the thing happens in my time zone.' And really, there's a greater question at work here: what are you doing on social media at all if spoilers are that important to you? Inevitably, someone's gonna spill the beans—even if you're carefully only treading on Threads—and you'll only have yourself to blame for seeing whatever they wrote.

Meghan Markle talks sharing life 'on my own terms' after viral delivery room video

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is getting candid about sharing her life on social media. The mom of two and former actress recently sat down for an interview with the "Aspire with Emma Grede" podcast, set for release Tuesday, and spoke about a video she shared that recently went viral. In a promotional clip shared on YouTube ahead of Tuesday's podcast episode, Meghan opens up about the video, which shows her dancing with her husband Prince Harry in the delivery room before the birth of their daughter, Princess Lilibet. "That wasn't yesterday," Meghan says in the promotional clip. "That was four years ago. So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's a whole life -- a real, authentic, fun life that's happening behind the scenes." "I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms," she added. Earlier this month, Meghan shared several memories of Lilibet on her birthday, including the video of herself and Harry dancing to the viral song "The Baby Momma Dance" in the delivery room at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, ahead of Lilibet's birth. The video is among many personal moments Meghan has shared on her official Instagram account, @meghan, since launching the page in January. Recently, she also shared a sweet Father's Day tribute to Harry, which included several video clips with their two children, Lilibet and older brother Prince Archie.

Justin Bieber talks 'anger issues,' says he's 'broken' in emotional Instagram post

Justin Bieber is opening up about struggling with anger issues. On Monday, the Grammy winner took to Instagram and shared a candid message about dealing with anger and feeling "broken." "People keep telling me to heal," he began. "Don't you think if I could have fixed myself I would have already?" He continued, "I know I'm broken. I know I have anger issues. I tried to do the work my whole life to be like the people who told me I needed to be fixed like them. And it just keeps making me more tired and more angry." "The harder I try to grow the more focussed on myself I am," he added. "Jesus is the only person who keeps me wanting to make my life about others because honestly I'm exhausted with thinking about myself lately aren't you?" In a separate post consisting of a text exchange with an unidentified person, Bieber appears to end his friendship with them after he's accused of "lashing out" at them. "I will never suppress my emotions for someone," Bieber says in his messages. "Conflict is a part of relationship If you don't like my anger you don't like me." He added, "My anger is a response To the pain I have been thru. Asking a traumatized person not to be traumatized is simply mean." On Monday, Bieber also posted several photos featuring moments from life as a dad to son, Jack Blues, whom he shares with Hailey Bieber.
