Key Accused In Hyderabad's High-Profile "Digital Arrest" Fraud Case Arrested
A key accused in a high-profile "digital arrest" fraud case was arrested by the Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad. Aludasu Sudhaker was detained at Mumbai International Airport by immigration authorities based on a Look Out Circular issued by the Hyderabad police.
The 43-year-old is alleged to have been part of an elaborate impersonation scam that targeted a 48-year-old Hyderabad woman. The fraudsters, including Sudhaker and four others previously arrested, posed as officials from government agencies such as the CBI and TRAI. They meticulously constructed a false narrative, implicating the victim in a fictitious money laundering case.
The scam began on November 12, 2024, when the victim received an automated call threatening suspension of her Airtel service. Upon pressing "9," she was connected to a fake call centre. Over a harrowing two to three-hour period, multiple impersonators, including a woman officer, a fake Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), and a man posing as "CBI officer Rajesh Mishra," subjected her to intense pressure. They accused her of links to money laundering via fabricated FIRs and coerced her into transferring substantial amounts of money from her fixed deposits, gold loans, and personal loans via RTGS.
The accused also extracted her Aadhaar details and other sensitive personal information, maintaining continuous control through hourly video calls and severe threats of job loss and imprisonment. The victim realised she had been defrauded only later and promptly filed a complaint, leading to the registration of Cr. No. 2808/2025 under the IT Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The Cyber Crime Unit has now arrested a total of five individuals in connection with the case, all of whom are alleged to be "account suppliers" - individuals who provide their bank accounts to facilitate the fraudulent transactions. A debit card linked to an absconding accused, Ashok Kumar Javvaji, who is believed to be in Dubai, has also been seized, along with a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Police officials have once again cautioned the public against falling prey to such sophisticated impersonation scams. They reiterated that no legitimate government agency or law enforcement body will ever demand money over the phone. Citizens are strongly advised to verify any such claims through official channels only and to be extremely cautious when receiving unsolicited calls or messages demanding personal or financial information.

Hearing a lot about Gurugram court in cheque bounce cases: SC
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday took a dim view of a Gurugram trial court's coercive orders against homebuyers, saying it would examine the matter as it was privy to "lot of information" about its functioning. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh asked the district and sessions judge of Gurugram court to examine the matter where bailable and non-bailable warrants are issued by courts under cheque bounce cases under Negotiable Instrument Act for recovery of money from the homebuyers. "We are getting a lot of information about the Gurugram trial court. We will look into it and see what can be done," the bench said. The order came during the hearing of a batch of petitions filed by over 1,200 homebuyers, who booked flats under subvention plans in various housing projects in NCR region especially Noida, Greater Noida and Gurugram, alleging that they were being forced by banks to pay EMIs despite no possession of flats. Some homebuyers through their counsel submitted that a Gurugram trial court was passing coercive orders against them in simple cheque bounce cases related to different housing projects under litigation and possession of their flats had been delayed. The top court allowed the CBI to register 22 regular cases into the "unholy nexus" between the banks and developers to dupe homebuyers involving builders in NCR and development authorities in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Corruption case against CBI judge: Don't need sanction to prosecute a private person: ED on developer's plea
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday told Punjab and Haryana high court that issue of prosecution sanction in the FIR involving a former CBI judge, Haryana, could not have been raised by the Gurugram based developer, who is demanding quashing of the FIR. The court was hearing a petition filed by real estate firm M3M's director Roop Bansal seeking quashing of an FIR filed by the Haryana anti-corruption bureau in April 2023 against himself and others including former special CBI court judge Sudhir Parmar. (Getty Images/iStockphoto) ED's counsel told the court that the petition seeking quashing of the FIR on the ground that previous approval of the governor under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act has not been taken before registration of FIR in relation to a judicial officer cannot be raised by the petitioner, who is a private individual and not the concerned public servant. The court was hearing a petition filed by real estate firm M3M's director Roop Bansal seeking quashing of an FIR filed by the Haryana anti-corruption bureau in April 2023 against himself and others including former special CBI court judge Sudhir Parmar. The case stems from an April 2023 FIR, registered against Sudhir Parmar, Roop Bansal, and others under Sections 7, 8, 11 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B of IPC for offences relating to a public servant being bribed, a public servant taking undue advantage without consideration from person concerned in proceedings or business transacted by such public servant, criminal misconduct by a public servant and criminal conspiracy. Sudhir Parmar, who was then special CBI judge, Panchkula, was accused of alleged favouritism towards Bansal and others who were accused in some FIRs being investigated by CBI and ED, pending before his court. The chief justice, Sheel Nagu, last month had withdrawn the case from a judge and assigned it to himself after receiving some 'complaints'. Subsequently, the chief justice also recused from hearing the case and is now being heard by the bench of justice Manjari Nehru Kaul. The case will now be taken up on July 30.
