These six years have scripted chapters of progress, devp in J&K: Tarun Chugh

BJP's national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday came down heavily on National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, J&K CM Omar Abdullah, and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi saying that for them the interest of Pakistan was more important than national concerns. 'For them Pakistan's interests are more important than the national concerns,' said Chugh.
'It's a dangerous cocktail of appeasement and political delusion which indicates that the Gupkar gang and the Congress again want to set J&K on fire,' Chugh said adding that the Abdullahs and Gandhis cannot accept the growth and development in J&K which has been envisioned by the Modi government.
Chugh said, 'Six years after the abrogation of Article 370 has scripted a new chapter of progress and development in J&K during which many milestones were touched, including the Jammu-Srinagar train.
Responding to Farooq Abdullah's comment that militancy will only end when India improves ties with Pakistan, Chugh said: 'India's national security doesn't depend on any foreign country's goodwill and mercy. It depends on political will — and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has shown that with surgical strikes, the Balakot air strike and most recently, Operation Sindoor.'
'When Farooq Abdullah undermines India's military efforts and Rahul Gandhi refuses to acknowledge Operation Sindoor, the question arises — why does pain hit INDI alliance leaders every time Pakistan suffers?,' he further said.
Chugh slammed the current J&K government, saying it has failed on every front. 'The Abdullah-led regime has dozens of departments, a full cabinet — yet not a single manifesto promise has been fulfilled. They blame the LG, who only oversees law & order, while the real power lies with the cabinet.'
'The Abdullahs, Muftis, and Gandhis need to decide whether they stand with the nation or echo the voice of its enemies,' Chugh added.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and state secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Pawan Sharma said that 5th August marks the real independence for the people of Jammu & Kashmir, as it was on this day in 2019 that the shackles of Article 370 and 35A were removed, paving the way for true integration, equality, development, and dignity for all.
August 5 marks a pivotal day when J&K was freed from prolonged isolation, autocratic governance, bias, and divisive politics, he said.
'True democracy was restored on August 5. For the first time, people in all parts of J&K – be it the Gujjar-Bakarwal community, refugees from West Pakistan, Valmiki Samaj, or the women who had been denied their rights – were given their constitutional due. This is the day when every citizen of J&K became an equal citizen of India in spirit and in law,' said Sharma.
BJP SC Morcha of J&K UT marked the 6th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 with great enthusiasm, at its head quarter in Trikuta Nagar, paying tribute to PM Narendra Modi's visionary leadership. Morcha President Dharminder Kumar said that the bold decision has brought J&K closer to the rest of India, ensuring a brighter future for its residents.

Maharashtra CM calls Sharad Pawar, Uddhav to seek support for NDA V-P candidate

Looking to mobilise support for the NDA's vice presidential candidate C P Radhakrishnan beyond the allies in the government, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday held talks with Opposition constituents NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray to seek their support for the for the candidature of Radhakrishnan. Sources in the BJP revealed that 'Fadnavis called Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray over phone and urged them to extend their respective party's support to NDA's V-P candidate C P Radhakrishnan'. The source revealed that both NCP(SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) have refrained from making their stand public. While NDA has fielded Maharashtra Governor Radhakrishnan, INDIA block led by Congress has had in the fray former retired judge Justice Sudarshan Reddy as their candidate. The vice presidential elections will take place on September 9. The elections were necessitated following the abrupt resignation of serving V-P Jagdeep Dhankhar in the middle of his tenure. Sources said that in Maharashtra, there had been instances where political rivals came forward to support presidential candidates setting aside their political differences. On two occasions at least, undivided Shiv Sena — then led by Bal Thackeray — had supported the rival Congress-led UPA presidential candidate Pratibha Patil in 2007 and Pranab Mukherjee in 2012. A senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said, ' Ideally, we have nothing against Radhakrishnan whose tenure as Maharashtra governor was much better and non-controversial. But as we are part of the INDIA bloc, we will have to stand by Reddy to show unity within the opposition.' The Congress' decision to field Reddy is perceived as a clever strategy to counter BJP's South India oriented politics. By fielding Radhakrishnan, BJP wanted to mount pressure on non-NDA southern parties namely DMK. By fielding Reddy, Congress has put NDA aligned Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena and Rastriya Bharat Samithi from Andhra Pradesh in a political bind.

2025 Monsoon Session of Parliament: Lok Sabha passed 12 bills, Rajya Sabha 14 in amid Opposition protests

Twelve bills were passed by the Lok Sabha and 14 by the Rajya Sabha during the month-long monsoon session of Parliament, which has witnessed repeated disruptions, adjournments and walkouts. Barring discussions on Operation Sindoor in both Houses, the session has seen little business ever since it began on July 21, 2025 due to repeated disruptions and adjournments initially due to opposition demand for discussion on Operation Sindoor and then over demands for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar. The session concluded on Thursday (August 21, 2025). Bills passed by the Lok Sabha: Bills passed or returned by the Rajya Sabha: 'This time in Parliament, there was so much ruckus and opposition didn't cooperate. Due to this obstinate behaviour, opposition missed participating in discussions on several important bills which were passed,' a government functionary said. In the Rajya Sabha, except for The Bills of Lading Bill, 2025, which was passed without any disruption on the first day of the monsoon session, the other bills were passed after some discussion amid din or only after the Opposition parties staged a walk out, the functionary said. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta a day after she was allegedly attacked during a 'Jan Sunwai' programme at her official residence.(PTI) Announcing the decision, Rekha Gupta recalled her father's lesson, 'When I was in college, Papa gave me a car to drive. One day, a big accident happened. I got scared and became afraid to even touch the car again. Then Papa said that accidents happen in life, but you can't stop out of fear. You can't stop walking on the path,' she said. She added, 'Today, his same lesson comes to mind again. Yesterday, another accident happened, but I can never stop fighting for the interests of Delhiites.' The chief minister stressed that women have the strength to withstand adversities. 'Anyway, women have double the strength to fight through difficulties. They have to pass countless tests to prove themselves. I am ready too! Now, public hearings will not only be held at my home but in every assembly of Delhi. Your Chief Minister, at your doorstep,' Gupta said. On Wednesday, the Delhi CM said the attack would never 'shake her determination' or 'weaken her resolve' to serve the people. 'Such attacks can never shake my determination or weaken my resolve to serve the people. I will now be among you with even greater energy and dedication,' she had said in a post on X. Attack during Jan Sunvai at CM residence The Delhi CM's announcement came after she was physically assaulted during her weekly public hearing (Jan Sunvai) on Wednesday. Police said the accused, identified as Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakriya, a 41-year-old auto driver from Rajkot in Gujarat, entered posing as a complainant. According to people in the CM's office, the man moved forward while the chief minister was interacting with citizens, handed her a piece of paper, started speaking loudly, used expletives, and then "attacked" her. The CM's security team and others present at the spot overpowered the assailant and handed him over to police. A first information report (FIR) under sections pertaining to attempt to murder has been registered. Police said his motives are not yet known, and it is unclear if he acted alone. Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, all seven of the party's Members of Parliament from Delhi, including Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, visited Gupta at her residence to enquire about her health. Delhi BJP MPs described the incident as a 'mishap'.
