Anne-Marie reveals she didn't want to be left alone during secret post-natal anxiety and depression battle following the birth of her first child

Daily Mail15-07-2025
Anne-Marie has revealed that she didn't want to be left alone during her secret battle with post-natal anxiety and depression.
The singer-songwriter, 34, shares daughter Seven, 18 months, with her rapper husband Slowthai, and the pair welcomed a baby boy in May.
But Anne-Marie recently revealed she suffered from both post-natal depression and post-natal anxiety after the birth of Seven.
In a candid chat with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday, Anne-Marie spoke about she struggled with anxiety so badly after welcoming her daughter that she couldn't be alone.
'I actually had anxiety so bad when I first had Seven and I didn't want to be left alone,' she said.
'And I was like, don't leave the house don't go there, don't go there. And I didn't know there was such thing as postnatal anxiety. I only knew about postnatal depression. So I was like, oh, okay, that's a new one.
'So then I learned all about that, and then I went through postnatal depression - and that was about six months after Seven was born.'
Anne-Marie went on to discuss her journey with therapy as she revealed she had stopped going - before realising she needed it.
She said: 'Therapy and me, that's a rollercoaster as well, because I started in lockdown, and I've done it consistently, and then I felt like I was okay, and I stopped doing it.
'And then I made the third album, and I was like, I don't need therapy anymore. I'm fine, and then I had Seven and then I was like, Okay, I'm sorry if you saw any of the interviews where I said I don't need you anymore, can I have you back?! So now I do it again once a week.'
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Anne-Marie revealed her head has been 'all over the place' over the last two years but thanked her family for getting herself through her mental struggles.
Up to 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men develop mental health problems such as depression or anxiety during pregnancy, or in the first year after childbirth.
She said: 'This is the most "me" I've felt in a long time. My head has been all over the place. I've been pregnant and breastfeeding for over 2 years.
'My hormones are mental and I've only just started feeling okay. I've been through a lot. My body has been through a lot. It's so hard but I guess cliche to say IT IS worth it.
'For someone who doesn't like routines I've had to become the person who lives in one. With naps and feeding and meal times.
'But I'm through it, still going through it but I feel I've come out of the hole. I battled with post natal depression and post natal anxiety, and therapy (yet again) and the people around me pulled me through it.
'Now I'm back. I'm strong and I'm excited. My blond hair is back. My body is kinda back.
'I just have to stop eating chocolate now and saying 'the baby wants it' hahahaha damn. Anyway, this caption is too long but just wanted to let you know.'
In the raw and honest post, Anne-Marie also teased her musical comeback now she feels stronger.
'My mind is finally seeing clear again. Yay. I have 2 beautiful babies. Now it's time to tour again hahaha. Okay maybe not yet but soon', she said.
Anne-Marie was supported by her celebrity pals in the comments, including Jessie J, Paloma Faith and Fearne Cotton.
Jessie wrote: 'Superwoman', while Paloma added: 'TOTALLY RELATE'
She said: 'This is the most "me" I've felt in a long time. My head has been all over the place. I've been pregnant and breastfeeding for over 2 years'
Kate Lawler also penned: 'Your honesty will help so many. Well done on getting through the toughest times. xx ❤️'
Anne-Marie and Slowthai, who married secretly in 2022, confirmed the news that they were expecting their second child together just days after Seven celebrated her first birthday.
Explaining the meaning behind Seven's name, The Sun previously revealed: 'It is Anne-Marie's lucky number and she even has 0707 tattooed on her because she sees them as her angel numbers.

Chart topper Tyla confesses huge success of hit record Water left her feeling ‘trapped' as she releases hot new track

BECOMING an overnight sensation has proved to be a blessing and a curse for Tyla. The South African singer felt 'trapped' after her single Water reached No4 in the UK charts and was a global hit in 2023. While her self-titled debut album was a top 20 hit the following year. At an exclusive Q&A in London last week, she explained: 'For a while, especially last year, I felt so trapped. 'Like, 'Oh my word, I blew up and I just have to have everything right and everything has to be perfect now because the world is looking.' 'It was kind of stressful for me.' But on Friday she released her brilliantly fun and upbeat four-track EP WWP — which stands for We Wanna Party — and has finally given her the chance to 'experiment.' She said: 'I wasn't planning on doing this. I was just making music at the beginning of the year. It was mainly for an album. 'But as I got closer to summer, I was like, 'Hey the songs I was making were too good . . . where are the summer songs? 'We need some summer songs right now' and I am just too excited to hold on to them. 'I really just want people to hear it and party to it, and see how I've grown through the years and just see who I am now.' And it seems like she's more confident than ever, which isn't something she will apologise for. Tyla — who will perform at All Points East festival in London's Victoria Park next month — said: 'I just always knew I had something in me. 'I just always had that kind of peace knowing that this is the life I'm gonna live. 'I don't let anybody or anything limit me or put me in a box. I think I'm just confident. 'A lot of people say arrogant, but I think everyone needs a little bit of arrogance, especially to make it in this industry and to make people believe in your music. 'If you're not that proud and you don't believe in your stuff as strongly as you should, why would someone else?' SIR MICK JAGGER turned 82 on Saturday and his long-term girlfriend Mel Hamrick celebrated by sharing this adorable photo of him with their son. In the snap posted on Instagram, The Rolling Stones rocker was seen grinning and wearing matching bunny ears with his youngest kid, Deveraux. 9 While the eight-year-old lad is most definitely the cutest, Mick was no doubt spoilt by all eight of his children on his big day. In the past, Mick's admitted fatherhood can be a bit of a handful. He said: 'You get a bit out of practice – it's not like riding a bike. The more children you have, the more laissez-faire you get about them, to be honest. 'It's fun to have children, at any age. But if you're working, and always away, you don't get to enjoy it as much.' It looks like he found time for a hoppy birthday, at least. ROBBIE'S LOTTERY WINNER THE LOTTERY WINNERS have been flying high thanks to Robbie Williams, inviting them to be the support act on his Brit Pop tour. Lead singer Thomas Rylance revealed how the friendship flourished. Speaking at the Together Again Festival at Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire, he said: 'Robbie reached out because he'd heard a few of our songs and read some interviews and he wanted to be friends. We spent months chatting on FaceTime. And then one day he asked if we fancied coming on tour. 'It's been stadiums every night. And to watch Rob do those shows, he's just magic. 'He's just as lovely off stage as he is on stage. He's just such an inspiring man to be around. I think he's my soul mate.' Despite his late night headliner slot, Olly Murs won the prize for the weirdest rider request of the weekend – asking for boxes of Coco Pops and Cornflakes. IT'S little wonder Jennifer Lopez has such a huge smile on her face. She performed to more than 70,000 fans in Poland, this weekend and looked proud as punch as she headed out with friends afterwards. 9 9 9 Jen, who looked chic in this nude coloured blazer dress, has been riding high on the success of her shows which have seen her take repeated swipes at her ex Ben Affleck. Last week, insiders told Bizarre's Howell that J-Lo had a whole new album ready to go, with Jen saying on stage she had 'scorned woman energy.' With songs like Up All Night and Wreckage Of You taking pops at Ben, I think he should be running for cover when that album drops. RED CARPET RAIN A PAIN FOR EDITH AS a regular host of glitzy film premieres, Edith Bowman knows all about the ups and downs of a red carpet. But her very worst experience was at one of the biggest events in the showbiz calendar – the Bafta Film awards. 9 In an exclusive chat, Edith said: 'I was eight months pregnant and it was really wet. 'My dress was like a sponge. And so it had literally come up past my knees. 'My dress was kind of waterlogged. And I've got this massive, child-bearing belly in front of me. And so that was probably not the best look and not fun.' But she said one of her highlights in recent years was interviewing Joaquin Phoenix at the 2023 premiere of his film Napoleon – because he did so by accident. Edith recalled: 'We were told beforehand, 'He's not doing anything'. And then he came up not realising what he was coming into. So I was like, 'Nice to see you'. 'I was like, 'You were late the last time we chatted'. And he's like, 'What?'. 'I did a thing for Joker and he went to the loo and then he got lost, and then he came in late. 'So we just got into this really funny conversation, him going, 'I wasn't late, I'm never late!' kind of thing. 'And then he realised his voice was coming out of the speakers. And he was like, 'What am I doing here?'' lIT wasn't just Tom Cruise who headed to Wembley Stadium to catch Oasis in action. My pals spotted Dua Lipa in a VIP box with her fiance Callum Turner. 'Dua and Callum were going absolutely wild when Noel and Liam Gallagher came on,' my mate said. 'They were hanging out with Noel's daughter Anais. 'Jarvis Cocker was there too and looked like he was loving it.' BEYONCE took her fans back to where it all started on the final night of her Cowboy Carter world tour after reuniting with her Destiny's Child bandmates on stage. She bought out Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a medley of some of their best loved hits, including Bootylicious and Lose My Breath. 9 9 Kelly and Michelle even put on matching chaps when they got up on stage at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The duo also helped Bey with her 'mute challenge' much to the delight of the packed out crowd. Although Bey's 32-show tour may be over, the hard work isn't stopping here. She's now hard at work on her next album, which is understood to be called Betty Black, and has its roots in rock. The record's title is, we understand a bit to reclaim Ram Jam's 1977 song of the same name - which has been controversial in recent years due to its connection to a whip used on enslaved people in prisons. WEDDING bells can't be far away because Becky Hill spent the weekend in glamorous Lake Como on her hen do. The two-time Brit Award winner flew her nearest and dearest gal pals over to Italy for the celebration, which came off the back of a gig she played there on Friday night. It came a week after her fiance Charlie Gardner flew off on his stag do, which was attended by his close pal Gareth Gates. I'm told Gareth is a surprisingly close mate of Becky and her fella and will definitely be there when they tie the knot later this summer. Between touring and working on her next album, it's a wonder she's had time to plan a thing. The week in bizness WEDNESDAY: Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Billie Piper will be among the stars at the premiere of the second series of Netflix hit Wednesday in London. THURSDAY: Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis jet into London's Leicester Square for the UK premiere of Freakier Friday – 22 years after Freaky Friday hit screens. SATURDAY: Mariah Carey, Sugababes, Will Young and Natalie Imbruglia perform at the UK's biggest Pride festival over two days in Brighton's Preston Park.

Kelsey Parker breaks social media silence to share family photo as she heads off on holiday a month after tragically losing her third child

Kelsey Parker has taken a much-needed family holiday one month after tragically losing her third child. Tom Parker 's widow sadly suffered heartbreak in June after her unborn baby - Kelsey's first with boyfriend Will Lindsay - was 'born sleeping.' The last month has been incredibly tough for the family-of-four after the devastating news, with Kelsey sharing that they have taken some needed time out. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, she shared a family photo as she, Will and her two children with Tom - Aurelia, six, and Bodhi, four - looked out to sea in a hot location. Kelsey didn't confirm where they were, but she shouted out budget-friendly airline Jet2 for making the process so easy. The doting mum simply wrote: 'Exactly what we needed. Thank you @jet2 for making it so easy. X' In the comments section, she was showered with love by other stars, including Brooke Vincent and Gogglebox's Lisa Baggs. Last month, Kelsey took to Instagram to share her heartbreaking news. She confirmed the loss of her unborn third child, a son she had planned to name Phoenix, one week before his planned due date. Breaking the news in a poem, she wrote: 'The world grew quiet as you arrived, So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light, Born with wings, took silent flight'. 'We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth and light Though we never heard you cry, You'll live in hearts that won't ask why. 'No breath you drew, no eyes to see, Still, you mean everything to me. You'll journey with us, softly near, in every sigh, in every tear. Taking to her Instagram stories: she added: 'Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share. 'But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. 'I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family'. Kelsey was left devastated after husband Tom lost his battle with brain cancer, but found love again last year, meeting Kent tree surgeon Will on a night out and announced their romance in September. The podcaster later admitted to being targeted by online trolls for moving on with her new partner. Speaking on ITV's Lorraine, in their first joint interview together in March, she explained: 'It's been three years, this is Tom's three year anniversary of his death and it's almost like people want me to feel guilty for moving on.' She added: 'I'm always going to have guilt but what's so hard is that Tom's not here anymore so what do people want me to do?', 'Our house was full of so much sadness but now it's full of happiness, the kids deserve that more than anything. 'They've been through so much, I feel like we are taking the steps forward to heal but I just want other women to feel like it's OK to move on, it's not taking anything away from the love I had for Tom.'
