Man Utd in race against time to meet Amorim's deadline to sign 'frustrated' star
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim wants a deal for Bryan Mbeumo finalised before their pre-season tour of the US begins on July 22. The Red Devils have already had two bids rejected by Brentford, who want more than the £62.5million United paid for Matheus Cunha.
And United are now in a race against time to sign Mbeumo before they leave for America later this month to play three games against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. Mbeumo has also been left frustrated by the situation, with negotiations dragging on.
Mbeumo has made it clear that he wants to join United and Ashu Cyprian Besong, Cameroon's assistant coach, has revealed the forward is not happy with how things are going. "Yes, obviously he's very frustrated with how long it's taken," Besong told Telecom Asia.
"But he's a professional and anticipates these things. I spoke to him about a week ago and he is very calm with everything that is going on. 'But of course, he's already told them he wants to go to United.
"He just wanted the two clubs to find an agreement, as he's very grateful for the opportunity that he's been given by Brentford in his career."
However, Brentford have hinted that Mbeumo will remain at the club if their asking price is not met, with director of football Phil Giles telling BBC Sport last month: "He had a fantastic season.
"We expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career, of course he does – he is well within his rights to do that. We are in constant dialogue with him and representatives about that.
"As it stands at the minute we don't have an agreement in place for him to leave. It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay. It has to be the right deal for Brentford, any club will tell you that.
"If it's not right deal why would we do it? He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There's no harm in keeping your best players."
Mbeumo enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Brentford last season, netting 20 Premier League goals in 38 appearances. Only Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Newcastle star Alexander Isak and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland managed found the back of the net more times

Man Utd transfer news: Marcus Rashford 'doesn't deserve' move as Brighton star holds talks
Marcus Rashford is looking for a way out of Manchester United with Barcelona his ideal destination whilst Jadon Sancho is edging closer to the exit door, but the club will have to accept a hefty loss Manchester United's summer still has a lot of moving parts to it with the club hoping to secure some major arrivals whilst some big names will be looking to depart. Matheus Cunha remains their only signing but Ruben Amorim will hope that Bryan Mbeumo joins him sooner rather than later whilst more attacking additions could be made after that. In terms of outs, several big earners are looking to end their spells in Manchester. Marcus Rashford 's future has been a major talking point - he is one of a number of loan exits who are now back. Jadon Sancho and Antony are in similar boats and look poised to leave the club. Alejandro Garnacho is another player seeking pastures new after his snub in the Europa League final. His antics have angered Amorim and the club are looking to cash in with the Argentine potentially commanding a hefty fee. Here's the latest news from the Red Devils. Rashford 'doesn't deserve' Barca move Rashford has been told that "doesn't get the move" from Manchester to Barcelona by Teddy Sheringham, who claims the forward isn't worthy of such a switch. The United academy graduate is tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer after falling out of favour under Amorim. The Spanish giants are considering a swoop for the United man having missed out on some of their other targets this summer. Nico Williams chose to remain at Athletic Bilbao whilst Liverpool are determined not to sell Luis Diaz, so they are running out of options, but Sheringham has not been impressed with his conduct He told Sky Bet: 'If you assess where Marcus Rashford is at as a professional footballer, you strive as a youngster to get to the very top and play for clubs like Manchester United, and when you're there, you appreciate it. You don't throw it away and say you want to leave. "I hope Rashford doesn't get the move that he's hankering for. From my perspective, if you go from Manchester United to Barcelona, that's a step up that he hasn't deserved.' Sancho's cut-price move United have accepted that they will have no choice but to accept a fee of less than £25m from Juventus if they want to offload Jadon Sancho this summer. The Italian giants have refused to meet the Red Devils' asking price, leaving them to accept a considerably low offer. Sancho is not part of United's plans under Amorim and is in search of pastures new despite joining the club four years ago for more than £70m with many tipping him to be a huge success. The former Borussia Dortmund winger is in the final year of his contract and spent last season on loan at Chelsea, before they chose to pay a penalty fee to prevent his move to Stamford Bridge becoming permanent. Juventus are now looking to seize on the unfortunate situation by adding Sancho on the cheap. Brighton star on radar The Red Devils have held talks with the camp of Brighton star Pervis Estupinan with the club interested in signing the full-back, who is also drawing interest from AC Milan this summer. Amorim only added Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in January and the summer has seen the arrival of teenage star Diego Leon, but they still want players in that area. Brighton have already signed Maxim De Cuyper from Club Brugge this summer and as a result could be open to offers for Ecuador international, who has two years remaining on his contract at the Amex. Estupinan has told the Seagulls he is open to a new challenge this summer and talkSPORT claim United have held discussions with the player's camp. He was recently away on international duty this summer and revealed to El Canal Del Futbol that Brighton had given him freedom to make a decision. Liverpool told to sign 'throwback' Arsenal transfer target to replace Luis Diaz
Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool to sign one of Arsenal's transfer targets if they decide to cash in on Luis Diaz this summer. The Colombian has been the subject of interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer after lifting the Premier League title with Liverpool last season. The English club rebuffed an approach from Barca earlier in the summer and in recent days have turned down a £58.6million bid from Bayern. Liverpool are said to be in no hurry to sell Diaz this summer, who they value at €100m (£86.8m), but the 28-year-old winger is said to be keen for a new challenge. With two years still to run on his contract, this summer could prove the ideal time to cash in on Diaz, and former Reds striker Heskey believes a move could well be in Liverpool's interest. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. 'If Bayern Munich step up and are paying the right price, then I think it has to be considered,' he told 'Everyone is available if the price is right. 'I think it would be decent business if they could get a good offer in and move him on, but then the next thing to consider is who to get him in.' Liverpool have already spent heavily this summer, but would be expected to dip back into the market for a replacement to Diaz should the Colombian leave. And Heskey reckons the Merseyside club should consider a move for Anthony Gordon to provide a similar pace and dynamism to Diaz down the left flank. 'One player I like is Anthony Gordon at Newcastle, he'd be a great option,' Heskey added. 'He'd give you someone direct, who still understands how to take players on and beat them. 'He's a winger who gives you width and gets to the byline, who can entertain. 'We've lost that a bit and Anthony is a bit of a throwback to earlier times, but his dribbling and direct attacking gets fans off their seats.' More Trending Liverpool attempted to sign Gordon from Newcastle last summer but were unable to reach an agreement. The England international scored six goals and registered five assists in the Premier League last season and was among Arsenal's list of transfer targets this summer as they look for greater depth in wide attacking positions. The Gunners are already closing in on the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea to provide more depth on the flanks. Mikel Arteta's side have also been linked with Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who has also been attracting interest from Liverpool in recent days. For more stories like this, check our sport page. BREAKING NEWS Marcus Rashford 'targeted by European giants' who hope to rival Barcelona as he moves closer to Man United exit door
The race for Marcus Rashford is hotting up as Juventus have now reportedly emerged as contenders for his signature. Rashford is known to be keen for a move to Barcelona and while the Spanish giants are interested, they are yet to make a move for him. The 28-year-old announced in December that he is 'ready for a new challenge,' effectively calling time on a journey with United which began when he was seven. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he scored four goals, but they chose not to sign him permanently. Rashford still has three years left on his £300,000-per-week deal at Old Trafford. In recent days, The Sun have claimed that Jose Mourinho is eager for a reunion with Rashford at Fenerbahce, with reports in Turkey saying they are willing to meet his £40million valuation. And now Sky Sport Italia claims Juventus are exploring a potential deal for the wantaway former England striker. More to follow.
