Cambodian reinforcement efforts continuing, says Thai army
The regional army command said on Thursday morning that Cambodia had increased and strengthened its forces along the border.
Unidentified drones, it added, have been deployed in many areas including: Chong Aan Mah crossing in Nam Yuen district of Ubon Ratchathani; Phu Makua, Satta Som, Prasat Don Tuan and Phu Phee in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket; Chong Chom in Kap Choeng district of Surin; and Chong Sai Taku in Ban Kruat district of Buri Ram.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand on Thursday announced a nationwide ban on civilian drones. ACM Manat Chavanaprayoon, the CAAT director, said the move represented an expansion of the ban that began on Wednesday in high-risk provinces where drones could threaten national security.
The 2nd Army Region also reported that it had detained 20 Cambodian troops who surrendered at the Chong Sam Tae crossing in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket after they ran out of ammunition.
It said the soldiers were being prosecuted for illegal entry into Thailand. Two of them were injured and admitted to Fort Weerawatyothin Hospital in Surin.

Thai singer Palitchoke 'Peck' Ayanaputra was injured in a knife attack at a Bangkok petrol station in the early hours of Sunday, with police arresting a 21-year-old suspect at the scene. It happened at around 1:30am on Sunday at a petrol station on Ramkhamhaeng Soi 76 in the Hua Mak area of Bang Kapi district. At the scene, the victim — identified as the well-known male singer — was found with a deep knife wound under his chin, bleeding heavily. Govt denies army beheading claims
The government says claims Thai troops committed brutal acts against Cambodian soldiers are false and deliberate disinformation aimed at inciting hatred and fuel bilateral tension. Claims swirling online, including images and messages accusing soldiers of cruelty such as beheading and desecrating the bodies of Cambodian troops, were baseless, said Sasikarn Watthanachan, a deputy government spokeswoman. "We firmly deny these accusations. These are fabricated stories with no factual basis, aimed at inciting hatred and creating unrest between the peoples of Thailand and Cambodia," she said. Thai military operations adhere to international humanitarian law, military codes of conduct and principles of transparency. By way of example, Cambodian soldiers who were injured during recent clashes near the border were provided with medical treatment by Thai personnel before being safely repatriated via the Chong Chom border checkpoint in Surin province, she added. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) released a list of the top 10 most widely circulated fake news stories of the past week, all linked to rising tensions along the Thai–Cambodian border. These included false reports of Thai soldiers beheading Cambodian troops, claims that 140 Thai soldiers had died in combat, rumours that 40 soldiers have been killed and another 30 captured, and claims that Norway donated F-16 fighter jets to Thailand. More false reports included a supposed declaration of a "war disaster zone" by the Surin governor, allegations Thailand had retaken the Preah Vihear temple, reports of biological weapons being used against Cambodia, fake stories about toxic chemicals being dropped on civilians, fabricated military fundraising campaigns, and false claims that the Ministry of Defence halted medical aid to Cambodians. "We urge everyone to avoid sharing unverified content and to consult official sources," Ms Sasikarn said. The public is encouraged to report suspicious content to the Anti-Fake News Center via hotline 1111, Line ID @antifakenewscenter, or through Meanwhile, government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub, who also serves on the government's Thai-Cambodian border situation management centre, said as of 7am Sunday, no further clashes were reported.

New info wars front opens
The government has rejected accusations of abuses made by the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC), as it responded to information wars concerning captive soldiers which have opened on yet another front. Cambodia's petition to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human for an urgent intervention was based on "distorted" facts relating to the clashes along the countries' shared border, Thailand's Border Situation Management Centre said on Sunday. The CHRC petition called on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, to help arrange the return of 20 Cambodian soldiers which Phnom Penh claimed were unlawfully detained by Thai forces after a ceasefire took effect at midnight on July 28. The ceasefire followed talks in Putrajaya, Malaysia, between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and acting prime minister Phumtham Wechayachai that was facilitated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. In response, the centre said the CHRC's letter misrepresented the events and was based on information that was not consistent with the facts. The government has come under fire for its poor attempts to counter persistent Cambodian misinformation as Phnom Penh appeals for sympathy on the world stage. The centre said Cambodia violated the truce when its troops attacked Thai forces with small arms and grenades in Phu Makheu in Si Sa Ket, resulting in hostilities which continued until the morning of July 30. The Cambodian soldiers were arrested during renewed fighting triggered by Phnom Penh's ceasefire breach, and their detention complied with international humanitarian law and as such cannot be construed as a violation of international law, it added. The centre also denied allegations of torture, insisting the arm injury suffered by one of the 20 soldiers was sustained in battle, not in custody. The injured soldier, along with another who suffered combat-related mental health issues, received medical treatment before they were repatriated, in line with the 1949 Geneva Convention and the long-standing International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) guidelines on wounded combatants. Thailand, the centre said, is ready to cooperate with the international observers to verify the facts and invited representatives from the ICRC and the UN human rights office to visit the Cambodian soldiers in Thai custody. In the summary of developments along the Thai-Cambodian border issued by the Second Army Region's Operations Center on Sunday, the centre noted troop movements along the border, though no active clashes were reported as of 2pm on Sunday. It said Thai troops remain in strategic operational zones in accordance with military readiness plans. Meanwhile, state agencies, private sector groups, and citizens are supporting humanitarian efforts to help over 100,000 displaced individuals across 495 shelters in Surin, Si Sa Ket, Buri Ram and Ubon Ratchathani. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams have cleared 17 areas along the border of leftover explosives, with 63 zones still under inspection. The Bernama news ageny says Malaysia's Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin on Saturday met his Thai and Cambodian counterparts in preparation for the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on Aug 7.
