Man Dyes Pond Blue—Completely Forgets His Labrador Lives for Water

When Weston decided to banish the murky brown of his Kentucky pond, he forgot about one thing—his playful 4-year-old Labrador Macy.
To make the water look better, Weston opted for a blue dye. But he wasn't expecting what his dog would do.
"Later that day I let my two dogs Bailey [Macy's mom] and Macy out to run in the woods," Weston told Newsweek. "Next thing I know, I hear her plunge and I tried to stop her—but she was already blue."
When Macy turned around, it was clear what had happened as she looked up with a bright blue tongue. "When she got out I couldn't help but laugh cause I knew that could only happen to Macy," Weston said.
"For about two days Macy had a bright blue tongue and nose."

To dye the pond, they used an animal and nature-friendly dye, carefully researched to ensure it was safe for both wildlife and pets.
When he captured footage of Macy, he was inspired to share it after seeing a similar video online. "I saw a video of a yellow Labrador jumping into freshly dyed pond and when he got out he really was blue," Weston said. "So I was like hey I have a video of my dog doing that except she's a black Labrador so the color won't show as much."

But Macy's bright blue tongue and nose quickly gained attention, with more than 3.5 million views on Instagram and hundreds of comments.
"Blue tongue skink!! Wait that's a lab," joked one commenter. While another said: "Lucky you don't have a yellow Lab."
"You now own a blue Labrador," said another viewer.
"I have a small following of about 20 people at the time and I was like well maybe this will be a good video to get some feed," Weston said. "I was literally shocked at the results. All of my other videos which didn't exceed 300 views all had over 4,000 views at the end of the day."
Now a month later, the pond is still a bold and bright blue color, but it is no longer dyeing Macy. Weston clarified the animals are all well and the pond's ecosystem remains unharmed.
