'My intention is to work on projects I would go and see...' Scarlett Johansson clarifies her acting future
Scarlett Johansson is "still an actor for hire", despite making her directorial debut on 'Eleanor the Great'. The 40-year-old actress stepped behind the camera for the first time on the drama film which follows 94-year-old Eleanor Morgenstein (June Squibb) who moves to New York after years living with her late best friend many States away to live with her daughter (Jessica Hecht) and forms an unlikely friendship with a 19-year-old journalism student (Erin Kellyman). Scarlett will be seen on screen in upcoming blockbuster 'Jurassic World Rebirth' as covert operative Zora Bennett and, although she found directing to be creatively rewarding, she still is up for roles in the right movies. Scarlett specifically wants to star in films that have the potential to attract audiences to the cinema. In an interview with Collider, she said: "My intention is to work on projects I would go and see, whether they're like 'Jurassic World' or this film. "The commerciality of things is also important to me, too. Would audiences want to see this, too? Is this generally interesting? Those are things I look for and focus on and care about. "So, we'll see, I guess. I'm certainly still an actor for hire — I want that to be widely printed." Scarlett screened 'Eleanor the Great' at the Cannes Film Festival and she has admitted she shed many tears when directing on set because of the movie's emotional story. The 'Black Widow' star hopes the film will have the same effect on audiences as she learned long ago that it is a powerful thing to be able to cry over a movie in public. Scarlett said: "The script made me cry, and so I knew there would be potential for tears, of course. "Then, to cut it together - I've seen it a bajillion times, and it still makes me cry. It touches me in different moments. "I love to cry in movies. When I was younger, I was a teenager, I used to stop myself from crying, and it was so painful. I think the greatest physical pain is holding in a cry. It hurts so much. Then, at some point in my life, I was like, 'What am I doing? I'm just going to let loose and cry in this theatre.' It was so liberating. "It feels so good to cry in a theatre with a whole bunch of people."

‘Lasting impact': North Andover police mourn loss of community resource dog Scarlett
The North Andover police department is mourning the sudden loss of their community resource dog Scarlett. Scarlett, 23-month-old, English Cream Golden Retriever, was home with her handler and partner, Officer Mark Wilson, when it is believed that she suffered a sudden seizure, police said. She joined the department in September 2023 and despite her short time with North Andover, she made a tremendous and lasting impact. Scarlett supported the North Andover community in all aspects, including attending town events, visiting North Andover Public Schools, the Prescott House Nursing Home, Benchmark Assisted Living Facility, Ashland Farms, and connected with community members of all ages. Scarlett often visited the Lahey Clinic, providing comfort to those going through medical treatment. She assisted with fundraisers for the Special Olympics and helped with donations for the Magic Barn. She also deployed to other communities to support residents and school children during times of need. Scarlett's favorite activities were hanging out with her family, including her sisters in the Wilson family, Molly their St. Bernard, and Gracie a Shih Tzu mix, and making new friends in the residents of North Andover. She was instantly recognizable by her wagging tail and her 'Free Hugs' vest, inviting everyone to say hello. 'Scarlett touched so many lives, and she was happy everyday,' Officer Wilson said. 'As long as she was meeting someone new she was happy.' 'Scarlett was the embodiment of what we set out to do as police officers: connecting and engaging with our community at the deepest levels,' Chief Gray said. ‘The Phoenician Scheme' Lands Top Limited Opening Of 2025
Wes Anderson's is now the top-grossing limited opening of the year with an estimated $570,000 this weekend at just six locations in New York and Los Angeles for a per-theater average of $95K. The Focus Features' film expands to 1,500 screens next weekend. The film unseats A24's Friendship, which kicked the indie box into high gear a few weeks ago with a great $445K limited opening and $75K per-theater opening for Andrew DeYoung's feature debut starring comedian Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. The latter ended up scoring nine Oscar nominations including Best Picture and winning four. Focus took over the Angelika Film Center in New York this weekend with Phoenician Scheme on all six screens, a jazz band and movie-themed merchandise and activations in the lobby and concessions – reflected in higher ticket prices — $30 for standard and $60 for premium. NYC's Alamo Brooklyn and AMC Lincoln Square and AMC's The Grove, Century City and Burbank in Los Angeles are other opening theaters. Other new openings: IFC Films debuted UK period thiller to $130K at 412 theaters, and Music Box Fims opened Jonathan Millet's feature debut from Cannes 2024 with French-Tunisian star Adam Bessa at four locations to $5,600. Holdover: Sony Pictures Classics clocked $561K on 526 screens in week 2 (up from 61 last week) for a cume of $977.500. Event cinema had a terrific weekend with the final Met: transmission of the 2024–2025 season, Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia, grossing $906K at about 800 cinemas in North America. Fathom distributes in most markets. Trafalgar had a doubleheader, with Saturday's live worldwide broadcast of j-hope tour — the BTS solo star's concert from Osaka — grossing $789K at 631 screens in North America. The UK-based distributor's collaboration with Hasbro was also out with globally including 428 venues in North America that grossed $420K for Friday and Saturday.
