Orlando Pirates news: Hotto, Saleng, Mofokeng, new coach

Orlando Pirates have yet to name Jose Riveiro's successor, but they are perhaps taking advantage of the offseason to hire the right man for the job; however, not everyone will wait.
According to reports, Rulani Mokwena and Pitso Mosimane are both wanted in Egypt. The latter has been approached by recent Egypt Cup winners Zamalek FC, while the former is reportedly in talks with CAF Champions League victors Pyramids FC.
Veteran wingback Deon Hotto has been rewarded with a contract extension amid weeks of uncertainty. The 30-year-old's contract was set to expire in under two weeks, but Orlando Pirates don't want him going anywhere. The new deal has been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the same can't be said for forgotten man Monnapule Saleng, whose future at the club is as certain as predicting the weather. Both parties appear to be ready for an exit, but substantial interest has yet to be confirmed. The Bloemhof-born winger hasn't featured in the PSL since late November.
Relebohile Mofokeng is another uncertainty; however, in this case, Orlando Pirates definitely want to keep him. Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos believes the 20-year-old will move this offseason.
'Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that's for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that's the problem. But ok, let's hope, maybe I talked too soon about that,
'We'll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.'
Meanwhile, the Sea Robbers have secured the future of youngster Yanga Madiba.
'They have already made that decision. For now, it's as good as done, and it's believed to be a three-year contract which would apparently run from July this year until June 2028,' a Soccer Laduma report read.

Kaizer Chiefs reignite bid for Mamelodi Sundowns star Mashego

Kaizer Chiefs have reignited their pursuit of Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Terrence Mashego, aiming to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season. After failing to land him during the tight January transfer window, the Soweto giants now feel they have both time and leverage on their side – but the situation has quickly become more complicated. A source revealed the club's renewed determination. 'What I can tell you is that the club with all involved departments still believe they need Terrence (Mashego) at the club… They are really reigniting their interest in him.' This statement underlines Kaizer Chiefs' strong internal belief that Mashego fits their long-term vision. Chiefs' technical team reportedly view the Bafana Bafana international as a key component in their defensive rebuild. Initially, Mashego's exclusion from Mamelodi Sundowns' FIFA Club World Cup squad gave Amakhosi hope that the Brazilians might be open to offloading the player. Chiefs viewed this as an opportunity to swoop in without much resistance. However, Sundowns later included Mashego in their Club World Cup roster, sending a strong signal that he remains in their plans. To complicate matters further, Sundowns have triggered a one-year contract extension for the left-back, adding a financial barrier for Chiefs to navigate. With Mashego's contract extension now official, Kaizer Chiefs must table a formal offer if they hope to lure him away from Chloorkop. The free transfer route is no longer an option, placing the ball firmly in Sundowns' court. Chiefs, however, remain undeterred. The source believes the extended negotiation window ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign could prove decisive in getting the deal over the line. If they succeed, Mashego's arrival could prove to be a statement signing, and a crucial step in restoring the club's former glory. Will Kaizer Chiefs dig deep to land Mashego, or will Sundowns hold firm again? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Ex-Pirates quartet headlines Chippa United mass exodus!

Former Orlando Pirates quartet of Andile Jali, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Craig Martin and Justice Chabalala have been released by Chippa United. The four players headline a list of 15 players axed by Chippa United ahead of the 2025-26 PSL season. For Jali, this doesn't come as a huge surprise given that rumours had already been there that he would be axed. The same can be said about Eva Nga whose agent was on record to say they had been in talks with the Chilli Boys over a possible renewal. This was when reports suggested that Eva Nga could be moving to Kaizer Chiefs as one of their newest strikers next season. Meanwhile, Siphelo Baloni will return to parent club Pirates as he was on a season-long loan deal. Also on the list of returnees are Aphelele Teto (Livingston of Scottland) and Sonwabile Khumalo (Orbit College). Now, newly-appointed coach Sinethemba Badela will have to go to the market to sign new players for the club. Chippa United release 15 players, including four former Orlando Pirates players.
