I get paid £45 an hour with little-known side hustle – you don't need qualifications but you have to be upset on demand

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) YOU can now make up to £45 an hour doing a highly unusual job, and you don't even need a qualification. But before you go signing up, be warned: You will have to cry on demand. This unsual side hustle doesn't involve filling out the crowd or standing mysteriously by the graveside, it's a lot more in depth. Professional mourners pretend to be friends and family of the deceased, assuming fake identities and convincing attending they're one of the bereaved. The practice has been commonplace in countries like China and is now starting to take off in Western countries. Professional practice Professional mourners take a series of steps to prepare for the unique role. Before attending the funeral, they carry out a full character study of the deceased. Often the family are able to help with this, helping the mourner establish a back story, which includes reasons why other funeral attendees have never met them before. And knowing the background of the deceased isn't enough for this job. Crying on cue To be a successful mourner, you will have to trigger sadness on demand. It can be difficult to work up tears over someone you've never met so often the mourners turn to Hollywood tear-jerkers or personal tragedies for their big moment. I earn cash by selling 'actual rubbish' on eBay - I flogged a freebie I found on the floor by a bin for £10, it's crazy However, mourners need to be careful to seem to genuine to avoid any suspicions. And while people rarely suspect professional actors have infiltrated the congregation, some are often wearing of opportunistic strangers running a scam for cash. The practice has been traced back to ancinet China, with "wailing women" also playing a role in Egypt. However, it has now spread worldwide, meaning mourners are required to know the basics about grieving processes across all religions. And according to Owen Vaughan, who works as a professional mourner in London, the families can also be very demanding about the performance. Side hustles in numbers Based on new research from Finder, an estimated 22.8 million Brits are using side hustles to top up their income. Among those aged 18-23, 68 percent have a side hustle in 2024. Those aged 24-42 aren't far behind, with 65 per cent having an additional source of income. Side hustles are less popular among older generations, with 40 percent of those aged 43-54 having one. Whereas 23 percent of people aged 55-73 and just 7 per cent of those aged 74 and over are earning extra cash this way. Demanding work He recalled a specific funeral he was hired to attend during an interview with Cracked. "I was warned not to give any condolences to his siblings (who didn't know he was hiring us), not to eat at the reception, to stay only in a certain area, and to basically sit and look sad for two hours," he said. But if the high demands and emotionally drainage don't sound to off-putting, this constantly evolving business could be a handy way to make money for any budding actors. And according to Fellowship Recruitment, you can make up to £45 an hour, depending on whose funeral it is and the role that they are playing. Professional mourners, officially known as moirologists, have been in practice for well over 2,000 years, with the number of UK bookings going up 50% in the past year.

At the time, the 28-year-old beauty, from Panama, said she was simply trying to enjoy the famous tourist hotspot when she was subjected to sniggering and strangers snapping photos of 55in butt. "It's time to stop body-shaming. "We're all different shapes and sizes and that's what makes us unique." But the fashion influencer has caused a stir once again - this time, with the figure-hugging outfit she wore to the gym. As fellow fitness fans were following their own workout programs in the background, the Fashion Nova ambassador could be seen using the assisted pull-up machine. In the now-viral video, which has racked up an astronomical 50million views, the brunette beauty was sporting a long-sleeve top, as well as tight leggings with a booty scrunch. The light leggings also featured a V-neck cut on the back. As Gracie - who boasts more than 10million followers on her page - was using the machine, a gym-goer took a quick look at the model and appeared to be stunned. The woman, who was wearing shorts and a black tank top, looked visibly confused, as her eyes widened - and social media users couldn't get enough of the priceless reaction. Woman shocks with outfit that shows 'zero class' as she walks down the beach promenade with one butt cheek fully out Close to a staggering 700,000 people gave the clip a like, as thousands flooded to comments to shame the curvy model. One said: ''She probably wondering why you set up a whole tripod in the gym to record yourself and then you came over there to play on the machines.'' Another chimed in: ''If I was her I would look too.'' Can you be dress coded for wearing crop tops in public? The concept of being "dress coded" typically applies to specific environments such as schools, workplaces, or certain establishments where dress codes are enforced to maintain a particular standard or atmosphere. In public spaces, however, the situation is generally more relaxed and governed by societal norms rather than strict rules. That said, whether or not you can be dress coded for wearing a crop top in public largely depends on the context and location: Public Spaces: In most public spaces, like parks, streets, and beaches, wearing a crop top is generally acceptable and unlikely to result in any formal repercussions. People have the freedom to dress as they choose, provided they adhere to basic standards of decency and local laws. Establishments and Venues: Some restaurants, shops, or clubs may have their own dress codes. It's possible that a crop top might not meet the dress requirements for more formal venues. In such cases, staff may politely request that you adhere to their dress code or deny entry. Schools and Workplaces: Educational institutions and workplaces often have dress codes in place. Crop tops may be considered inappropriate in these settings, and you could be asked to change into more suitable attire. Cultural and Regional Considerations: In certain cultures or regions, norms and expectations around acceptable clothing can vary widely. It's always a good idea to be aware of and respect local customs and dress codes when travelling. Someone else wrote: ''I made the same face she did.'' Luckily for the 28-year-old, who was accused of enlarging her backside with ''100kg [15st and 7lbs] of silicone'', there were also plenty of those hitting back at the trolls. One fan said: ''At least she is working out she has confidence and likes her body.'' Someone else chuckled: ''Looks like someone was jealous lol.'' Subjected to vicious bullying Gracie's bum has helped catapult her into the spotlight - with millions wondering if the jaw-dropping backside is truly hers. The fashionista and content creator recently appeared on Adin Ross' podcast where she finally revealed it all. Chatting to the fellow guests and hosts, the model said in the video: ''Some people think it's fake. ''The thing is that I was very big, so I just had a tummy tuck,'' she said, pointing at her noticeably more toned upper half. While the surgeons made her stomach and waist snatched, Gracie claimed that no work has been done on her booty, the video posted under the username @odeeclipn showed. The model has also previously opened up about the vicious bullying she was subjected to as ''a big girl''. 'Before becoming this confident woman who loves and embraces her body, I was bullied for being a big girl,' she shared on Instagram. 'I was constantly reminded that I didn't fit the ideal look. 'Now, I don't care about anyone's opinions about my body. 'I decided that my body and my curves and everything that made me different were my strengths. 'I started showing up for myself and embracing every part of me that God gave me.' Gracie describes her journey as one from 'self doubt to self love'. And while many adore her curves, it does come with its downsides - such as finding clothes that fit. She wrote on Instagram: "The problem with us chubby girls... Only the BIG ones will understand."
