Stansted Airport passengers face flight delays after ‘IT issue'
Stansted Airport has advised passengers to check the status of their flights before travelling, after an 'IT issue' caused disruption and delays.
The malfunction affected several airport systems on Sunday morning, including check-in, baggage, and security.
Engineers are investigating the source of the problem, which may have been related to the system's internet access, a spokesman said.
The airport released a statement on X, saying: 'Our teams are working hard to fully restore operations following the IT issue that impacted our systems earlier this morning.
'While the issue has been resolved, some flights may still be subject to delays.
'We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and advise passengers to check the status of their flights with their airlines before travelling to the airport.
'We hope to have all systems fully resolved soon and will provide another update shortly.'
Around 15,000 departing passengers transit through Stansted on a usual Sunday morning, according to an airport spokesman.
They said: 'All systems have now been fully restored and no flights have been cancelled as a result of the IT issue.
'We are investigating the cause of the earlier issue so nothing confirmed at this stage, but for background, it looks like it was related to internet access for some systems.'

A WOMAN has revealed how she transformed a £200 caravan into a boujee matcha cafe, perfect for taking to summer festivals. Savvy entrepreneur Thea revealed that she managed to snap up the caravan for such a bargain price on Facebook Marketplace. 2 2 With the help of her boyfriend, she then transformed it into a pink and green paradise cafe. When she first bought the caravan, it had been left abandoned for a long time, so some of the floor was rotten and needed replacing. "With not a lot of money to throw at it, we had to literally do everything ourselves and be super clever," Thea revealed in a TikTok video. Thea explained that she and her boyfriend spent every spare penny they had on the renovation, and said their "date nights", turned into "trips to B&Q." Aer Lingus regional flight forced to land at Belfast City airport
A flight had to return to Belfast City Airport after reports that "a piece of panelling had fallen from an aircraft whilst in flight," the Police Service of Northern Ireland has PSNI attended the airport, alongside other emergency services, when the aircraft landed in a statement, they said: "Police received an emergency report from Belfast City Airport just after 07:20 BST on Sunday.A spokesperson for Emerald Airlines, operator of Aer Lingus Regional services, confirmed that "flight EI3670 from Belfast City Airport to Leeds Bradford returned to airport shortly after take-off". They said it was a "precautionary measure due to a technical issue". "The aircraft landed normally," they added. "Passengers will be offered alternative arrangements."
