Kesari 2 Box Office Collection Day 10: Akshay Kumar-starrer eyes Rs 100 cr club globally, makes impressive Rs 8.15 cr; destroys Sikandar and Jatt record
Kesari 2 box office collection day 10: Patriotic fervour seems to be working heavily in favour of Hindi cinema this year. If Chhaava became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, Akshay Kumar has faced twin successes this year with films like Sky Force, and his latest release, Kesari: Chapter 2. One of the highlights of the film's run is how Kesari: Chapter 2 has become the go-to film for Hindi audiences this weekend, and it has made more money in the weekend, when compared to the Monday-Thursday of its release.
The film, which also stars Madhavan and Ananya Panday, made Rs 8.15 crore on its second Sunday, which is the highest number since last Sunday, which clocked at Rs 12 crore. The film's nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 65.45, and is eyeing the Rs 100 crore club in the global market. With the kind of responses to the film, it is clear that this coveted club would be breached in a couple of days.
Kesari: Chapter 2 had a decent occupancy of 29.02%, with the afternoon and evening shows having 33.98% and 41.74% occupancy, respectively. Interestingly, the highest occupancy rates for Kesari: Chapter 2 was seen in places like Chennai (52.25%), and Bengaluru (45.25%). Kesari: Chapter 2 is currently at No 5 in the list of Top 10 Bollywood movies of the year, below films like Chhaava, Skyforce, Sikandar and Jaat. And in comparison to the Rs 8.15 crore Kesari: Chapter 2 made on Day 10, Jatt made Rs 3.75 crore, Sikandar made Rs 1.5 crore, and Skyforce made Rs 5.5 crore. Only Chhaava has made more money on Day 10; it made Rs 40 crore.
Although Kesari: Chapter 2 is gaining lost ground with its performance in the second weekend, and it is clear that the makers are making all the hay while the sun shines, since another legacy release is just around the corner. While the Akshay Kumar film has already braved the onslaught from films like Sunny Deol 's Jaat and other language successes like Good Bad Ugly (Tamil) and Thudarum (Malayalam), Kesari: Chapter 2 might just face its biggest competition from Thursday, which marks the release date of Ajay Devgn's much-anticipated sequel, Raid 2.

Thug Life vs Housefull 5 Opening Weekend Box Office: Akshay Kumar's comedy dominates Kamal Haasan starrer by a Rs 50 crore margin
Thug Life and Housefull 5 locked horns with one another over the Bakri Eid weekend at the Indian box office. Thug Life released a day earlier than Housefull 5 and grossed Rs 81 crore worldwide over its extended 4 day weekend. Housefull 5 has emerged a clear winner grossing Rs 131 crore worldwide in just 3 days. Let's break down the box office of both films in further detail. Thug Life grossed slightly over Rs 36 crore worldwide on its opening day. Due to poor word of mouth, the film saw a striking drop over the subsequent days. It barely managed to double its opening day over the weekend and that is disastrous. The 4 day India collections of Thug Life stand at an abysmal Rs 40 crore while the film has brought a better, although poor, Rs 41 crore from international markets. The movie is unlikely to touch Rs 100 crore worldwide in its lifetime and that is tragic, given that big Tamil movies are grossing that much on their very first day. Infact, Leo, in advance, grossed more than what Thug Life will, in the full run. Housefull 5 opened to good worldwide collections of a little over Rs 38 crore. It grossed Rs 26.50 crore (Rs 22 crore net) in India, and managed around Rs 12 crore from international markets. The film went from strength to strength over the weekend, growing on Bakri Eid and then also on Sunday. The India gross total of Housefull 5 after 3 days is Rs 95 crore, while it has grossed around Rs 36.50 crores internationally. The weekend collections are the highest for an Akshay Kumar starrer as a lead hero, be it in India, overseas or worldwide. Housefull 5 is holding well in India on Monday. The collections internationally are expected to show bigger drops because the driver of the collections of Housefull 5 over the weekend were the Gulf countries and the Gulf market is more frontloaded. Had it been North America leading the numbers, one could have expected better holds for the comic caper. Regardless, it has done well for itself. The Weekend Box Office Comparison Of Thug Life And Housefull 5 Is As Under Thug Life and Housefull 5 play in theatres near you, now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on both movies.

'Thug Life' box office collection day 5 (live): The Kamal Haasan starrer slows down after weekend surge
Kamal Haasan starrer 'Thug Life' was released on June 5 with high expectations. But reviews for Mani Ratnam 's directorial have been mixed, with criticism aimed at its pacing and screenplay. However, the multi-starrer drama opened with a solid ₹15.5 crore net collection on its first day across India, with Tamil Nadu contributing the lion's share at ₹13.35 crore. The Hindi and Telugu versions added modestly with ₹0.65 crore and ₹1.5 crore respectively. The film's star power and initial curiosity helped pull good numbers on opening day, setting a promising tone. Thug Life Movie Review Dips at the box office after day 1 However, the momentum dipped sharply on Day 2, with collections dropping by over 50% to ₹7.15 crore as per Sacnilk. Tamil Nadu again led the way, bringing in ₹6.35 crore. Day 3 saw a slight bounce back with ₹7.75 crore, showing some positive word-of-mouth. But Day 4 dipped again to ₹6.5 crore, signaling a weekend slowdown. By the end of the fourth day, the film had amassed roughly ₹36.9 crore. Day 5 sees sharp decline On Day 5, the numbers declined significantly to just ₹1.13 crore. The occupancy rates in Tamil Nadu's 2D theaters reflected this, with morning and afternoon shows hovering around 13-14%, and zero occupancy for evening and night shows. This drop suggests the film's appeal is mainly among hardcore fans, struggling to attract a wider audience beyond the initial days. Overall, 'Thug Life' has collected ₹38.03 crore net in India in five days. The film's future box office success will rely on how well it performs in the coming weeks, especially outside Tamil Nadu. Impressive team 'Thug Life', which marked the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after 38 years, also features Silambarasan, Trisha, Nassar, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Gautham Karthik among others. AR Rahman scored the music, while the cinematography was handled by Ravi K Chandran.
