Queen Elizabeth II's fashion to feature in exhibit
The changing fashions of the late Queen Elizabeth are to go on show in a major exhibition next year at Buckingham Palace.
There will be about 200 items, including dresses and jewellery, hats and shoes, in what is claimed as the biggest ever display of the late Queen's clothing.
The exhibition, featuring items from her childhood through to the decades of her long reign, will coincide with the centenary of her birth.
Among the items in Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style will be her wedding dress, made in 1947 by the designer Sir Norman Hartnell.
The exhibition opening at the King's Gallery at Buckingham Palace next Spring will chronicle Queen Elizabeth's life through the outfits she wore for public events and when off duty.
The "archive" of clothes owned by the late Queen, who died at the age of 96 in 2022, is now in the care of the Royal Collection Trust, which announced the exhibition.
One of the earliest surviving pieces from her wardrobe is a silver lamé and tulle bridesmaid dress, that she wore at the age of eight in 1934 at the wedding of her uncle the Duke of Kent.
Clothes could also serve as a diplomatic message, such as a green and white gown made for a state banquet in Pakistan in 1961, with the dress incorporating the country's national colours.
More relaxed, printed dresses showing the fashion trends of the 1970s will be part of the display, along with design sketches and handwritten correspondence about clothing choices.
The late Queen's more everyday clothes will also be on show, including riding jackets, tartan skirts and headscarves.
"In the year that she would have turned 100-years-old, this exhibition will be a celebration of Queen Elizabeth's uniquely British style and her enduring fashion legacy," said the exhibition's curator, Caroline de Guitaut.
She said the display would use the fashions to "tell the story of a lifetime of thoughtful style choices - from her hands-on role and understanding of the soft power behind her clothing, to the exceptional craftsmanship behind each garment".

Public health and anti-social behaviour laws, introduced in 2009, were brought in to fight nuisance behavior from gulls. Feeding seagulls can cause an increase in swooping attacks, persistent begging and damage to property. Several towns have also introduced Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) to clamp down on efforts to feed gulls. 5

TELLY fans can instantly upgrade their Sky-watching experience just by learning a few handy remote tricks. You can easily skip past ads, track down endless entertainment for your kids, and unlock the very best movies in a matter of seconds. It all works using the voice controls on Sky TV remotes. Most modern Sky telly remote controls feature a microphone button. You might have stared at it hundreds of times and never pressed it. But it can grant you dozens of different shortcuts – and I've picked out six of the best. If you get into the habit of using these special codewords and phrases, you'll save loads of time. SKY TV VOICE TRICK #1 – SKIP ADS First up is the ability to skip ads quickly. Now this won't work if you're watching live telly – but it's genius if you're viewing pre-recorded content. If you manually fast-forward through an ad break, it's pretty slow. But with the voice remote, you can just say: "Fast-forward three minutes." It'll whisk you right past the ads and back to your beloved telly. SKY TV VOICE TRICK #2 – TOP FLICKS You may have already known that you can search for movies with your voice by saying its name or asking for a genre. This will feed you telly that you actually want to see based on your viewing habits. And it even works across Sky as well as third-party apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. SKY TV VOICE TRICK #5 – WORDS OFF Sometimes subtitles find themselves mysteriously activated and you can't work out why – or how to switch them off quickly. ANOTHER SKY TRICK TO TRY Earlier this week, we revealed a clever Sky trick... You can unlock loads of classic games on Sky for free. Just load up your Sky TV, go to the apps menu, and look for Games by It's packed with top games including retro titles like Pac-Man, Breakout, and Tetris. There are kids games too, and quizzes that you can play together as a family. You don't need a special controller. Instead you simply play using your Sky TV remote. The only catch?
