Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, Tab S11, Tab S11 Ultra and Tab S10 Lite energy labels reveal battery info
The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE (SM-S731B/DS) has a battery that lasts 42:37h on a single charge and is rated for 2,000 charge cycles. Compared to the S24 FE, that's only 37m longer. As a reminder, we now list EPREL info in our specs when they become available.

The S25 FE received the top A score for drop resistance and an average C score for repairability. These are the same numbers as its 2024 predecessor. Moving on, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra have already been listed. Their batteries were rated at 81:01h and 94:51h, respectively. For comparison, the Tab S10+ got 73h 44m and the Tab S10 Ultra is rated for 85:18h.
Note: the Tab S11 will be an 11" slate. This year Samsung will be skipping the 12.4" Tab S+ model (at least it hasn't leaked). Anyway, we can expect better battery life from the new models.

Strangely, their batteries are rated only for 1,200 charge cycles – the Tab S10 generation were rated for 2,000 cycles. Repairability is average at C and drop resistance is the lowest at E, but that's what the old slates had too. The new models will be rated IP68 as expected.

Note that the charger rating listed on the EPREL site is the required charger power, not the maximum supported – it's 15W for the Tab S10+ and Tab S11 and 20W for the Tab S10 Ultra and Tab S11 Ultra. Of course, the old tablets both support 45W and we expect the new ones to do at least that much too – a leaked certification for the Tab S11 Ultra claimed 11,600mAh battery capacity and 45W charging.
There's one more, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite. This one will last 87:42h on a single charge and its battery is rated for 2,000 charge cycles, unlike its pricier siblings. This slate is getting only a basic IP42 rating for ingress protection.

Drop resistance is bad (E) and repairability is average (C). Note that the most recent Tab S Lite model is the third re-release of the Tab S6 Lite, so there's no direct predecessor to compare that Tab S10 Lite to.

The app Google Messages replaced as default on Galaxy phones might offer a life-saving feature
Samsung Messages is no longer the default messaging app on Galaxy phones. Despite being demoted and losing its default status, Samsung Messenger is not being phased out by Sammy. In fact, while analyzing apk version 16.1.02.2 of Samsung Messages, Reddit user Adriaaaaaaanoooo discovered a couple of strings of code that indicate Samsung's desire to add an emergency satellite texting feature to the app. The strings of code read: satellite_network_mode title samsung_message-only-support_sms_when-satellite-network-mode Samsung Messages lost RCS support as Samsung started taking the necessary actions to phase out Samsung Messages in favor of Google Messages. While completely removing Samsung Messages from its handsets was never fully realized by Sammy, in the middle of last year the South Korean manufacturer removed the app from its foldable phones. But even though the company did decide to replace Samsung Messages with Google Messages as its default messaging app, Samsung apparently wants to keep it alive. Samsung is even working on other new features for its Messaging app including: Birthday reminders Emoji reactions Live location sharing Now Brief support Sticker reactions The ability to send emergency text messages by satellite is a feature offered by multiple U.S. carriers. Those on T-Mobile's highest-priced plans have the T-Satellite feature added to their service for free while those on less expensive plans or using other wireless providers can pay monthly for the service. Verizon has a similar service available on a limited number of devices. Verizon subscribers packing an eligible device do not have to pay for the service which gives them the ability to send an emergency text by satellite in areas with no cellular connectivity. Apple also offers Emergency SOS via Satellite on iPhone 14 and later models; it is supported by all three major U.S. carriers and is free for two years after the activation of a new iPhone 14 and later. Since the release of iOS 18, this feature is now available to send and receive text messages with friends and family when cellular service in unavailable. Samsung could decide to eventually make Samsung Messages the default messaging app on Galaxy devices once again. And this time it could have the ability to get you out of a jam even if you're stuck in an area that doesn't have any cellular service. We finally know how powerful the Galaxy S26 will be, and it should get you excited
It seems like Samsung may be giving up on its plans for a Galaxy S26 lineup powered by its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset. The Galaxy S26 Edge has just been spotted on Geekbench, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, and putting out some pretty impressive listing shows the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 excelling at both singe-core performance as well as multi-core operation. Single-core performance score: 3,393 Multi-core performance score: 11,515 For context, the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite chip used across the Galaxy S25 series scored as follows: Single-core performance score: 2,869 Multi-core performance score: 9,495 These results were recorded on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as its lower-end counterparts took a very marginal hit. For further comparison, here's how the iPhone 16 Pro and its A18 Pro chipset compared: Single-core performance score: 3,449 Multi-core performance score: 8,573 Clearly, the multi-core performance on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is leagues ahead of Apple's last flagship phone. And, if Apple's new release schedule is correct, then the base iPhone 18 may not even get a chance to use a better chip when facing off against the Galaxy S26 next year. The Exynos 2600 is supposed to be a 2 nm processor manufactured by Samsung Foundry, but ongoing yield issues are preventing the company's vision from seeing the light of day. These same problems prevented the 3 nm Exynos 2500 — now found in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 — from debuting alongside the Galaxy S25 . Samsung, it seems clear, still has some ways to go before it can finally switch back to its Exynos chips. However, there is also the possibility that the Galaxy S26 phones will go back to region-specific chipsets. As such, we may actually see an Exynos-powered Galaxy flagship next year anyway, and the S26 Edge found in the aforementioned listing might only make it to certain markets. I wouldn't hold my breath, however, as recent reports still maintain that Samsung is having problems with its 2 nm chip manufacturing process.

Samsung beats Apple for the 'super-premium' throne in this huge smartphone market
India has been a very important battlefield for the world's top smartphone vendors for many years now, and the latest regional sales report put together by the International Data Corporation (IDC) provides quite a few interesting and somewhat conflicting findings for a lot of major mobile hardware brands. The likes of Vivo, Samsung, Apple, Oppo, Motorola, Xiaomi, and OnePlus all have reasons to be delighted... and disappointed with their Q2 2025 smartphone shipment figures in the world's most populous nation, and just like when we discussed those numbers published by Counterpoint Research a couple of weeks back, it's difficult to name the region's biggest winner... or biggest loser for this year's April to June timeframe. If you're the least bit familiar with the Indian smartphone market, you probably already know that iPhones aren't as popular as many affordable Android devices. But I bet you didn't expect to see Apple surpassed by Motorola in addition to Vivo, Samsung, Oppo, Realme, and Xiaomi. That's right, the Cupertino-based tech giant is only India's seventh-largest smartphone vendor as of the end of Q2 2025 despite boosting its market share from 6.7 percent during last year's April-June quarter to 7.5 percent now and improving its sales numbers by a solid 19.7 percent year-on-year. Vivo was number one in Q2 2024, and is still India's top smartphone vendor. Incredibly enough, Motorola managed to bump up its own second-quarter scores by a whopping 39.4 percent between 2024 and 2025, and even more incredibly, there were at least two brands that registered bigger progresses in the same period of time. Specifically, 84.9 percent for Nothing (which is however still not one of the country's top ten vendors), and 68.4 percent for IQOO (which is ranked right behind Apple and ahead of Poco and OnePlus in eight place). OnePlus, mind you, registered the largest decline between its Q2 2024 and Q2 2025 shipment scores in India, at a painful 39.4 percent, followed by Poco and Xiaomi. All in all, the IDC estimates that Q2 sales jumped by a healthy 7.3 percent from last year, but if you add the numbers from the previous quarter, you get a 70 million total for 2025's first six months that's only 0.9 percent larger than the market's H1 2024 tally. Of course, any progress is better than no progress, but the country's annual growth after a mediocre 2024 is expected to be "limited" by "subdued consumer demand" over the remainder of 2025. What's the difference between the "premium" and "super-premium" segments? A phone's price, of course, with models available for anywhere between $600 and $800 falling in the former category and those costing more than $800 earning a place in the latter. Surprisingly (or not), that means Samsung has the most successful super-expensive smartphones in India, undoubtedly spearheaded by the state-of-the-art Galaxy S25 Ultra. Before doing a victory dance in front of their iPhone-loving friends and foes, however, Galaxy aficionados should know that their favorite brand's advantage over Apple in India's super-premium division was almost negligible, at 49 to 48 percent market share. Those are some very interesting fluctuations for almost all major brands... apart from Vivo. Meanwhile, Apple's lead over... everyone else in the "standard" premium segment was absolutely massive, as the "vanilla" iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 came together to account for more than 60 percent of the category's shipments. Also, this was by far the market's largest grower of all categories, at almost 100 percent. Of course, the "mass budget" and "entry-premium" segments remain easily the biggest of the bunch, at 42 and 27 percent shares respectively, and those categories are obviously not dominated by Apple. Instead, Vivo continues to sell the largest number of smartphones priced between $100 and $400 in India, followed by Oppo and Samsung. That explains Vivo's overall market supremacy, as well as Apple's inability to crack even the nation's top five vendors group, let alone the top three.
