Ed Sheeran brought out James Blunt during the final night of his three-show residency at Portman Road Stadium in Ipswich on July 13, 2025.
The two artists performed Blunt's 2004 song 'Goodbye My Lover' in front of approximately 30,000 attendees.
Following the performance, Sheeran posted a message on Instagram providing context for the collaboration.
He shared that he first saw Blunt perform 21 years earlier at the same venue, when Blunt was the opening act for Elton John.
According to Sheeran, that concert had a significant influence on him as a teenager.
He stated that after that show, he purchased Blunt's album, became a fan, and attended several of his concerts.
Sheeran also noted that he later signed with the same management team and record label as Blunt. Over time, their professional paths led to a personal friendship.
Sheeran mentioned that they have been friends for over a decade and that he is the godfather to Blunt's son.
The performance at Portman Road took place shortly after Blunt concluded a tour in South America. Despite having just finished the tour, Blunt traveled to Ipswich to join Sheeran for the final night of his hometown shows. Sheeran described the moment as one of his 'top-three favourite moments on stage ever.'
The appearance was part of Sheeran's homecoming series in Ipswich, marking a return to the venue where he had once watched his musical inspirations perform.
The shows were attended by thousands and included a mix of older hits and more recent material.

Fleetwood Mac reunion buzz grows as Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham post 'Frozen Love' lyrics

Fleetwood Mac fans are once again speculating about a possible reunion following cryptic social media posts from Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. On Thursday morning, both artists posted matching lyrics from their 1973 track 'Frozen Love,' their only joint album before joining Fleetwood Mac. 'And if you go forward…' Nicks shared on X, followed 30 minutes later by Buckingham's reply, 'I'll meet you there.' The lyric exchange quickly ignited hopes online, with long-time followers interpreting it as a potential sign of musical collaboration. Adding to the intrigue, Mick Fleetwood posted an Instagram video on Wednesday featuring the same song, captioned, 'It's all in the song… It's in the music that played on for so many years. It's magic then, magic now. What a thrill.' The posts arrive amid ongoing fan nostalgia for Fleetwood Mac's classic lineup, which included Christine McVie until her passing in 2022. While Nicks has previously downplayed the idea of a reunion, citing McVie's absence as irreplaceable, her recent interaction with Buckingham has reopened discussion. Nicks told Vulture in 2023, 'When Christine died, I figured we really can't go any further with this. There's no reason to.' She also noted the band had a 'huge' and enjoyable tour in 2018-2019, even without Buckingham. Currently, Nicks is on tour and working on a new solo album. No formal announcement has been made regarding a Fleetwood Mac reunion.
