Bahuda Yatra celebrated with grandeur in Vizag
Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj (USS), a premier sociocultural organization in the city, organized the Rath Yatra.
The deities were brought to the flower-decked chariot in a ritual called Pahandi Bije. After sweeping of the chariot platform by JK Nayak, the designated Gajapati and president of the USS, devotees pulled the chariot amidst devotional chanting and sankirtan. The Odisha govt deputed Gayatri Kala Sangathan performers from Rayagada who performed Dhimsha en route.
Cultural artistes also performed various dance like Odissi, Kuchipudi, etc.
USS general secretary Bimal Kumar Mahanta thanked everyone for the grand success of the Rath Yatra.
The procession passed through Shanti Ashram, Vuda Park, Railway guest house, AU gate, and Vuda children's theatre to reach the main temple. Volunteers of Marwadi Yuva Manch provided drinking water and Gurudwara Saad Sangat distributed snacks. On reaching the main temple, the ritual of Lord Jagannath appeasing Devi Lakshmi by giving rasagollas was performed to open the door to allow Him and His siblings inside the sanctum sanctorum.

Kashmiri Pandits take out procession to celebrate Janmashtami in Srinagar
Srinagar, Aug 16 (PTI) Kashmiri Pandits celebrated Janmashtami with religious fervour and took out a procession in the heart of the city on Saturday to mark the birthday of Lord Krishna, officials said. The procession started from Ganpatyar temple in Habba Kadal area of the city centre and passed through Kralkhud and Barbarshah, before reaching the clock tower at the historic Lal Chowk amid tight security arrangements. The city centre came alive with vibrant celebrations as devotees, including men, women and children, some of whom had dressed up as Lord Krishna, sang bhajans and took part in the procession, and dancing alongside the chariot, officials said. The devotees also offered special prayers for the victims of cloudburst in Kishtwar district. The procession then passed through the Jehangir Chowk and returned to the temple, officials added. Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 16 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed Gau Seva at a Gaushala located on the premises of the CM residence in Bhopal on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami on Saturday and extended greetings to the people of the to ANI, CM Yadav said, 'I extend my greetings to all the residents of the state on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. New Delhi [India], August 16 (ANI): Devotees across India thronged temples with devotion and fervour to celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna. Thousands of devotees gathered to offer prayers and seek blessings. The chanting of mantras, bhajans, and ringing of bells as sacred rituals started in early morning hours across several temples in the country. In Mathura, the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna, witnessed a vibrant Mangala Aarti early this morning. In Noida, devotees participated in grand celebrations in the ISKCON Temple in Sector 32. The temple echoed with kirtans and devotional offerings. In Chhatarpur of Madhya Pradesh, the Prem Pratik Temple hosted a Mangala in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the historic Govind Dev Ji Temple saw an overwhelming turnout of devotees. The celebrations across these cities reflect the deep spiritual connection and widespread devotion to Lord Krishna's birthday falls on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad.
