Myles Turner Is A Great Fit On The Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks just shook up the NBA landscape, pulling off one of the wildest moves of the offseason by snagging Myles Turner away from the Indiana Pacers.
Somehow, some way, the Bucks and Turner agreed on a four-year, $107 million deal, with a player option tacked on at the end. Here's how the bag breaks down: $24.9 million in 2025-26
$26.1 million in 2026-27
$27.4 million in 2027-28
$28.6 million player option in 2028-29
What's slick is that even though the dollar amount climbs each year, the chunk of the cap it takes actually shrinks—from 16.09 percent in Year 1 continuously dropping down to 14.97 percent if he opts in for that final season.
Of course, making this happen came at a cost. The Bucks had to rip the bandage off and wave goodbye to Damian Lillard, stretching his cap hit over five years in a move that had fans and analysts heated. But that's a conversation for another day.
Right now, let's talk hoops—because Turner's fit in Milwaukee is straight-up seamless.
The frontcourt duo of Turner and Giannis Antetokounmpo has serious potential. Turner's sliding right into Brook Lopez's old spot, but, at this stage in their respective careers, he's Lopez 2.0 with a turbo upgrade.
Turner's got that modern big man game on lock. He's a legit floor-stretcher, hitting 37 percent or better from three in two of his last three seasons. He's cashing in catch-and-shoot looks at a 40 percent clip, which is perfect for playing off Giannis, who's gonna be in full point guard mode again.
You'll see plenty of pick-and-pop with Giannis and even Kevin Porter Jr., keeping defenses honest and the paint clear for rim attacks. Turner can roll and finish too, but he's not some post-up bruiser—more of a finesse guy who knows when to dive and when to drift.
Defensively, Turner's reputation precedes him. He was once swatting everything in sight—he peaked at a ridiculous 5.5 percent block rate in 2020-21. That number dipped to 3.3 percent last year, which ain't what it used to be, but he's still a major paint presence.
His quick footwork and length let him stay with guards on switches better than most bigs. That kind of versatility is exactly what Milwaukee needs to juice up their scheme and switch more freely.
He's not gonna lead the league in boards, but that's why you've got Giannis—the man vacuums up rebounds like it's nothing.
Sure, Turner won't have a playmaking wizard like Tyrese Haliburton setting him up anymore. But let's not act like Giannis doesn't spoon-feed guys wide-open looks. Just ask Malik Beasley and Gary Trent Jr., both of whom saw their stocks rise just by running with the Greek Freak.
The bottom line is Turner is an A+ fit on both ends and fills a need the Bucks couldn't afford to whiff on.
Cap gymnastics aside, they landed a guy 29 other teams would've happily paid for. Milwaukee pulled a fast one, and we'll see how it pays off on the court.

Bruins Reportedly Exploring Trade Market for $19 Million Forward
Bruins Reportedly Exploring Trade Market for $19 Million Forward originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha's future in Beantown is once again uncertain, after he was linked to a move earlier in the offseason. Advertisement According to The Fourth Period, which listed Zacha as the 17th most-valuable player reportedly available for trade, the Bruins have resumed trade discussions involving the forward. 'The Bruins explored the trade market on Zacha during the season and there is belief out there that Boston is looking, again, at moving him,' TFP reported. 'His 10-team no-trade list turns to an eight-team list July 1, so he does have some say in where he ends up, if dealt. He has two years remaining on his contract.' Zacha, 28, is under contract for two more seasons as part of his four-year, $19 million contract. He's signed through the 2026–27 season at a $4.75 million cap hit. Advertisement The veteran winger, who can operate as a center, is one of Boston's more valuable forward assets and a member of the Bruins' second forward line. It's fair to assume that trading for him would likely require a meaningful return. The Bruins have been busy adding players this offseason, and with their roster shifting under new head coach Marco Sturm, Zacha's place is no longer guaranteed. Boston Bruins center Pavel Zacha (18) looks for the puck against the Buffalo T. Ludwig-Imagn Images TFP linked the Vancouver Canucks and the Utah Mammoth as teams with interest in the Bruins forward. 'Zacha could provide (Vancouver) with an upgrade at the second-line center spot over Filip Chytil,' The Hockey News' Michael DeRosa noted in an article discussing possible Zacha fits. Advertisement Utah has already acquired JJ Peterka and Nate Schmidt in the offseason, but could be in the market for another middle-six center. Knicks Insider Urges Damian Lillard Consideration
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Knicks made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. They were not far away from being NBA champions, but came up short against the Indiana Pacers. Following the loss in six games in that series, the Knicks made the decision to fire head coach Tom Thibodeau. To replace him, New York recently made the decision to hire Mike Brown. He's a good pickup and a coach that will bring a different philosophy to the franchise. So far this offseason, the Knicks have made a couple of new additions. They have signed scoring guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Guerschon Yabusele. Photo byWhile both of those moves are quality depth additions, New York could still use another piece or two. How about a superstar guard like Damian Lillard? Read more: Lakers Fans Buzzing After Damian Lillard's Latest Post Lillard has hit the open free agency market after being waived by the Milwaukee Bucks following their move to sign Myles Turner. He is still recovering from the torn Achilles that he suffered in the first round of the playoffs against the Pacers, but there is optimism that he could return around the All-Star break. Taking a flier on Lillard could make a ton of sense for the Knicks. New York insider Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News has urged the team to consider the option. He thinks it could be a match made in heaven. "The Knicks could sign Lillard, who will continue to collect checks from the Milwaukee Bucks after they waived him from the roster and stretched the balance of his contract over five years, and help a Top-75 player return from a ruptured Achilles," Winfield wrote. "Worst-case scenario: Lillard recovers, misses the entire season, then becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026. Best-case? Lillard returns to action after the mid-February All-Star break, and the Knicks pull off the heist of a century, picking up one of the best scoring guards in league history on an injury discount." Read more: Warriors' Pursuit of Al Horford Receives Major Update During the 2024-25 NBA season before a blood clot issue ended his regular season early, Lillard played in 58 games. He averaged 24.9 points per game to go along with 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. Lillard also shot 44.8 percent from the floor and 37.6 percent from three-point distance. There would not be much risk in offering him a one or two-year deal. He could be the missing piece that powers New York to being a championship caliber team. Expect to hear more about Lillard in the near future. The Knicks might be a potential destination for him. For more on the New York Knicks and general NBA news, head on over to Newsweek Sports.

The fight will be the first women's fight to headline Madison Square Garden. (Photo by) "We're going to go out there and we're going to put it all on the line this fight so you're going to see who the true champion is July 11," Serrano said at the pre-fight press conference. "(Taylor) has to prove to everybody and to herself that she beat me convincingly, both those fights, and I need to go out there and prove to those judges, like, 'Come on, what are you watching?'" "If you look at the fights you can clearly see that I won those fights," said Taylor. "It's really, really insane that she thinks she won those fights." The fight, which headlines an all-women's card is currently scheduled to be contested over 10 two minute rounds, something that Serrano was not happy with. "First of all, we shook on it," Serrano said of the fight being three minute rounds. "She didn't agree when we went to sign the contract." "I think as a matter of principle that the challenger shouldn't be dictating the terms of the fight," Taylor said in reply. "I am 2-0 here and I'm in the driver's seat here and that's only right. At the end of the day Amanda needs this fight a lot more than I do. I have a long history of big fights against big names and a line of people queuing up to fight me for the payday." Katie Taylor Vs. Amanda Serrano 3 Opening Odds And Line Movement When the betting line opened for the third fight between Taylor and Serrano, Taylor was the -146 betting favorite over Serrano, who came in as the +114 betting underdog. Our first two fights were Fight of the Year contenders, and I am hoping this fight is as exciting," Taylor told Fox News. "Just for my own sake, I am hoping I can beat her a bit more easily. But just to showcase female fight night at its best, it's huge for the sport. It is going to be an amazing moment for women's sports on that night." "I definitely don't need to do this — she definitely needs this fight a lot more than I do," Taylor added. "I just want to be involved in the biggest fights possible. I realized after the second fight this still was the biggest fight in women's boxing," Taylor continued. "And to fight live on Netflix and have a chance to headline it again, this is going to be another historic night. So it is huge, and I feel like fights are getting bigger and bigger at this stage. 'I didn't think it was possible after the first fight, but then here we are a couple of years later. The last few fights have been bigger and bigger, and I feel like this one on July 11 is even bigger than last time.' We will have more on the Taylor Vs.
