
Tata Motors signs MoU with Green Energy Mobility to supply e-buses to Tamil Nadu
The pact was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries T R B Rajaa at the Passenger Vehicle Expo 2.0 in Chennai, where Tata Motors is showcasing its latest commercial passenger mobility solutions, the company said.
'This MoU with UBS is a landmark moment in our journey to transform intercity transportation. The Magna EV(e-buses)…is designed to redefine long-distance travel in India. We are confident it will set new standards in comfort, efficiency, and sustainability," said Anand S, Vice President and head for commercial passenger vehicle business at Tata Motors.
Rajaa said this initiative directly benefits the people of the state by offering cleaner travel options and affirms the Tamil Nadu government's commitment to building a future-ready, sustainable transport ecosystem.
These e-buses with up to 300km range on a single charge are equipped with electronic braking system (EBS) and electronic stability control (ESC), Tata Motors said.
'With reduced operating costs and zero emissions, this fleet will not only boost our efficiency but also reinforce our commitment to sustainable mobility," said Sunil Kumar Ravindran, Managing Partner, UBS and Director, Green Energy Mobility Solutions. PTI IAS ANU ANU

Sri Lanka starts issuing temporary driving license to tourists at airport
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Colombo, Aug 3 (PTI) Sri Lanka on Sunday launched a programme to issue temporary driving licenses to tourists at the international airport. 'Foreign tourists and even Sri Lankan visitors to the country, who are not dual citizens, would be issued these licenses valid for a month," Kamal Amarasinghe, the chief of the Motor Traffic Department, said here. The tourists getting these temporary licenses would, however, be not eligible to drive heavy vehicles and three wheeler tuk-tuks, Amarasingha said. Currently, any tourists could have obtained a license at the Department's Colombo suburban facility following the due process, he said, adding, the new arrangement is a more swift process where tourists can self drive. Punjab: Sanjeev Arora resigns as Hampton Sky Realty MD
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Chandigarh, Aug 3 (PTI) Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora on Sunday said that he has tendered his resignation as the managing director of Hampton Sky Realty Ltd. 'Pursuant to my appointment as a Cabinet Minister in the @PbGovtIndia and my election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, I have formally resigned from the position of Managing Director of Hampton Sky Realty Ltd. and its wholly owned subsidiaries," said Arora in a post on X. 'This step has been taken to ensure that I can dedicate my complete focus and energy toward serving the people of Punjab with sincerity, transparency, and unwavering commitment. I thank the entire team at Hampton Sky Realty for their constant support during my tenure," he added. Arora, who was elected the MLA from the Ludhiana West seat in the bypolls held in June, is the state's Industry and Commerce, Investment Promotion and NRI Affairs minister. He wrote to the board of directors of Hampton Sky Realty Ltd regarding his resignation. 'It is with a deep sense of gratitude and respect that I tender my resignation from the office of Managing Director of Hampton Sky Realty Ltd. ('the Company"), with effect from August 03, 2025, pursuant to the provisions of Section 168 of the Companies Act, 2013 read with the applicable rules made thereunder," said Arora in his letter. 'In light of the paramount public interest and constitutional responsibilities not only it is incumbent upon me, but it is even unequivocally untenable for me to continue holding the office of managing director in the company," he added. 'Accordingly, I hereby relinquish any association with the directorship(s) forthwith, as continuing to hold such office would be incompatible with the imperatives of my current constitutional duties, and may serve as a hindrance in fulfilment of my aspirations to serve the public at large," read his resignation letter. 'Also, I hereby tender my resignation from the Directorship(s) from the three wholly owned subsidiaries of the Company as well with immediate effect,"it said. Arora said that he always endeavoured to discharge his duty with diligence and integrity, adding he was confident the company will continue on its path of responsible growth under the current leadership's stewardship. The 61-year-old had defeated Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu by a margin of 10,637 votes in the Ludhiana West Assembly bypolls. Air India cancels Singapore-Chennai flight due to technical issue
Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 3 (PTI) Air India on Sunday cancelled its flight from Singapore to Chennai due to a technical issue. The flight AI349 was to be operated with an Airbus A321. In a statement on Sunday, the airline said the flight AI349 scheduled to operate from Singapore to Chennai has been cancelled due to a maintenance task identified prior to departure which required additional time for rectification. 'Arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to Chennai at the earliest. Hotel accommodation is being provided, and full refunds on cancellation, or complimentary rescheduling is also being offered to passengers based on their preference," Air India said.
