‘Final Destination 7' is in the works

A seventh installment of the 'Final Destination' film franchise is currently in development! After Variety magazine reported that a seventh installment is in works with co-writer Lori Evans Taylor returning to pen the new installment, franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick confirmed the news to GMA News Online through a message on Friday. 'Yes. They just started the scripting process. So it'll be a few years before the movie starts filming,' Reddick said. It sounds like it's still in the very early stages and it's going to take a little bit of time, but that's OK. We're still going to need to heal from the trauma from 'Final Destination: Bloodlines' after all. The sixth installment of the film premiered in Philippine cinemas just last May. In a previous interview with the American screenwriter, Reddick credited Filipino fans for being part of the franchise's success throughout the years. "Internationally, the 'Final Destination' films have been released in about 12 countries (out of 60) in the Asia-Pacific region. Since the first film, the Philippines has always been one of those countries. So the fans' constant support really means a lot to the franchise's success. And that's why the studio always releases the sequels there," he said. "Final Destination" is a film franchise that revolves around a group of people who escape impending death after one of them gets a premonition about a tragic event. The first film was released in 2000. According to Reddick, a visit to his hometown in Kentucky, USA inspired him to create the storyline. "I was flying home to visit my family in Kentucky (USA), and I read an article about a woman on vacation, and her mother told her not to take the flight she was scheduled to be on because she had a bad feeling about it. So the woman changed flights and found out that the plane she was supposed to be on had crashed. That's what put the original idea in my head," he said. — LA, GMA Integrated News

10 P-pop songs to sing your heart out to this Buwan ng Wika

O kay ganda ng ating musika! This Buwan ng Wika, let's celebrate our heritage as Filipinos by exploring P-pop. The genre has been raising our flag beautifully not just with our idols' performing skills, but also with the songwriting in our national language. SB19 gave us "Dungka!" and BINI gave us "Salamin, Salamin," but here are 10 more songs from various P-pop groups which will make you proud to be a Filipino. 1. Alamat - 'Dagundong' Alamat is best known for championing Filipino culture in their songs, choreography, and overall performances. This is especially evident in "Dagundong," a song about embracing one's mandirigma side, and using that strength and pride to fight off the conquerors. 2. BGYO – 'Tumitigil ang Mundo' "Tumitigil ang Mundo" by BGYO is an essential love song. BGYO sings about how it feels like heaven to be with their special someone, and how one look can make the world stop. 3. Calista – 'Alas Dose' Calista's "Alas Dose" perfectly captures a Pinoy pop song about falling in love, with its mellow yet danceable melody. 4. Cloud 7 – 'Tara Na' Cloud 7's song "Tara Na" is a fun one! The tropical beat instantly brings you to an island in the Philippines, as the boys sing about making dreams come true with their supporters by their side. 5. G22 – 'Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban' This list would be incomplete without the strong Filipina throat chakras of G22. The empowering song is about women being independent and ready for the challenges in these fast-changing times. 6. HORI7ON – 'Salamat' HORI7ON's "Salamat" blends the classic Filipino ballad with today's P-pop energy. The group sings about thanking their fans and everyone who has been a part of their journey so far. 7. Kaia - 'Tanga' Kaia's "Tanga" is a true must-listen as it brings together Filipino talent. Written and produced by Zack Tabudlo, the song is about the final parts of a relationship, or the difficulty of letting go while staying in love. 8. MNL48 – 'Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie' 'Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie' by MNL48 is not your typical Filipino pop song. In the P-pop track, the ladies sing about how music plays in a canteen, and that to be lucky in life, one must keep smiling. 9. Raya – 'Bongga Ka Day' Raya put a P-pop twist on the classic OPM song, "Bongga Ka Day!" This pre-debut song was remade for the modern day, with bubblegum pop and a high energy choreography. 10. VXON – 'SSP (Saksak sa Puso)' "SSP (Saksak sa Puso)" by VXON explores the themes of heartbreak and the anger that comes with it, especially after getting played by somebody two-faced. —MGP, GMA Integrated News
