If you can't find your Sky Q remote, don't panic.
Just press the Sky Q logo on the front of your TV box.
It's actually a button that will trigger your TV remote's built-in ringer.
You'll get 30 seconds of beeping to find where you've dropped it. Hint: it's probably under the sofa cushion.
Search movies by quotes
You might have already used voice search for controlling TV playback – but your remote's microphone has another clever trick.
It turns out that you can say movie quotes into the remote and Sky will find the film for you.
This is handy if you can't remember the name of a top movie or show.
Here's a
Save lost recordings
Have you ever deleted something you'd recorded on Sky, only to regret it later?
Or maybe someone in your family removed something without telling you – sparking a massive row.
Don't panic: you can get them back.
Just go to Recordings > Manage > Deleted and then simply hit Undelete on the item that you want to resurrect.
If you do that, it'll return to your Recordings section as good as new.

Broadcaster James Whale dies aged 74

TV and radio presenter James Whale has died at the age of 74, TalkTV has announced. His colleague and friend Mike Graham read an obituary on air and paid tribute to Whale, who had been battling stage four kidney cancer. Whale was first diagnosed with cancer in 2000 and had to have one of his kidneys removed. Then, in 2020, the TalkTV host revealed that the cancer had returned in his kidney, spine, brain, and lungs. Graham said: "James began his remarkable career in the early 1970s when he pioneered a new kind of radio in Britain, the late-night shock jock phone-in. "By the late 1980s, The James Whale Radio Show had become a cultural phenomenon, broadcasting every weekend on ITV. He attracted millions of viewers, making him a household name. "James would go on to host a variety of programmes for ITV, Sky, and the BBC before finding a new audience for talk radio, all the while continuing to make headlines during his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother. "In 2006, after surviving kidney cancer, James launched Kidney Cancer UK, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds. "In 2024, James was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours, recognising his extraordinary contribution to broadcast[ing] and charity. "James Whale broke the rules. He shaped the airwaves and did it all on his own terms. "For millions, James wasn't just a broadcaster. He was a companion, a provocateur, and a good friend that we'll all never forget. "God bless you, James. We'll miss you." Whale began his career with Metro Radio in the UK in 1974, where he pioneered the late-night radio phone-in. He rose to fame in the 1980s with his frank style, dry wit, and no-nonsense approach on late-night programme The James Whale Radio Show, gaining a legion of loyal listeners. He spent 13 years at TalkSport before hosting the drivetime show on the London-based LBC and the breakfast show on BBC Essex. During his career, he also hosted Whale On, Dial Midnight, and Central Weekend Live for ITV and Talk About for BBC One. His autobiography, Almost a Celebrity: A Lifetime of Night-Time, was published in 2008.

Millions of Sky and Fire TV Stick users receive free upgrade this month to keep the kids entertained over the holidays

It comes at the perfect time when families struggle for ideas during the holidays TV TREAT Millions of Sky and Fire TV Stick users receive free upgrade this month to keep the kids entertained over the holidays A NEW addition for Sky and Fire TV Stick users will get everyone in the family moving. Customers of the Amazon TV extension and subscribers to Sky will now get access to a free upgrade which comes just in time for the summer holidays. Advertisement 3 The new Mvmnt Family platform will be available to millions of Brits this summer Credit: Amazon & Sky 3 The exercise programs will be available on Fire TV Sticks and Google TV Credit: Alamy The UK-based digital fitness platform, Mvmnt, has now launched Mvmnt Family which is designed to help families to get active together with short videos that everyone can follow. Mvmnt is offering new customers to its app an one-month free trial throughout August. That will also include access to the Mvmnt Family workouts for the entire school holidays, online and on TV including via Sky, Amazon Fire, and Google TV. All of the Mvmnt Family programs are very user friendly each workout runs for less than 10 minutes and no equipment is needed. Advertisement What's even better is the sessions are led by a coach and child exercising side-by-side on screen so that everyone feels comfortable getting involved. There's also plenty of sessions to choose from including strength, yoga, HIIT, football and balance. The Mvmnt Family programs were designed to help parents rethink exercise as a family activity. Family Moving Time The new launch comes as research reveals that almost 50 percent of parents run out of ideas for school holidays entertainment, and that only 27 percent of families do something active together just once a week or less. Advertisement Many parents said they wanted to be more active with their kids but are worried how much it will cost them, and other parents say there never seems to be enough time to get moving with family during school holidays. 'Families are an underserved segment in the digital fitness space,' said Colin Griffith, Managing Director at Mvmnt. Quick look at Fire TV Stick remote and top button tips 'We saw an opportunity to support parents who are time-poor, stressed, and want a shared active experience that benefits everyone in the house – not just the kids.' Be Warned The free upgrade comes after Fire TV Stick users were warned about illegal streaming devices, including dodgy versions of the TV extension. Advertisement The Federation Against Copyright Theft warned this could lead to users having their ID stolen or their credit card details handed to criminals. Posts have begun flooding social media sites advertising modified Fire Sticks for just a few pounds. Some posts advertised all Sky channels plus streaming sites such as Netflix and Disney Plus for as little as £2.50 a month. Kieron Sharp, chairman of the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) said dodgy Fire Stick users are breaking the law too, and could end up being prosecuted. Advertisement According to FACT, watching an illegal stream is an offence under the Fraud Act 2006, and has a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Hannah Spearritt and Louie Spence withdraw from Celebrity SAS in first episode

S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt and former TV dancer Louie Spence have withdrawn from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in the first episode of the latest series. The Channel 4 military reality show opened with the 14 celebrity recruits hooded and standing on a breakwater, before they were asked for their identities by chief instructor Billy Billingham - who told many of the celebrities "don't grin at me". He then led them on two tasks, the first to plunge 26ft into the water and swim to intercept a boat, which picked them up, and the second to rescue three hostages from a building before blowing it up with a grenade. Before the second challenge began, Spearritt, 44, handed over her number tag to directing staff, telling them "I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point" - and in a pre-recorded interview which was played after her withdrawal, she said "I don't think I'll go on the first day" adding she "wouldn't forgive myself". During the task, Spence, who is best known for Sky TV show Pineapple Dance Studios, threw a grenade into the building while it still had two hostages in it, and afterwards told the directing staff he wished to withdraw, and was given a second chance to put his armband back on, but turned it down. Spence said: "I want to do an immediate withdrawal, I just don't have the conviction, and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough." He was told that he "hadn't even started", but Spence replied "that's what I mean". After the first task, former model Rebecca Loos was pulled in by directing staff after she gave up during the swimming challenge, who asked her to open up on her alleged affair with footballer David Beckham, who she worked for as a personal assistant, during the interrogation. In an interview before the first task, former Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon Boulash said the show would be "a piece of p***" after growing up as a queer person in Norfolk. After the second task, former Watford striker Troy Deeney, who also threw a grenade into the building before clearing the hostages, was pulled in by the instructors, where he opened up on physical abuse he and his mother received from his late father. The show sees celebrities enter SAS training, where they are not eliminated and are instead culled by the directing staff or able to withdraw themselves, with those who remain at the end declared the winners. The rest of the celebrity recruits are made up of ex-drug mule Michaella McCollum, former footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa, Strictly Come Dancing 2025 runner-up Tasha Ghouri, former The Traitors winner Harry Clark, rapper Lady Leshurr, boxer Conor Benn, singer Lucy Spraggan, and ex- Love Island contestants Chloe Burrows and Adam Collard.
