Jammu Rail Division auctions LCD monitors to raise revenue
Agency: PTI New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) The Jammu Rail Division has auctioned all LCD monitors installed at ticket reservation counters and other places in the whole division to publicity companies for one to five years, to increase revenue. 'On August 11, 2025, we declared the result of the e-auction, which was held on July 4, 2025. We have awarded the contract to various firms for Rs 9,00,990 for the next one year and Rs 53,15,841 for the next five years," a railway official said. According to railways, the Digital Display Information System (DDIS)-LCD monitors have been placed outside each Ticket Reservation Counter, integrated with the Railway Ticket System (CRIS). 'The screen is thoughtfully divided into two distinct sections. The lower 30 per cent is dedicated to displaying real-time ticket information for each commuter, which is essential for verification before ticket booking," the official said. The remaining 70 per cent is used for presenting entertainment content and ads to commuters awaiting their turn, he said. At the Pathankot Cantt Railway Station of Jammu Division, the Pay and Use toilet block has been allotted to a company for operation for Rs 7,66,669 for the first year and Rs 23,00,007 for the next three years, the official said. The division also auctioned Seating-cum-Luggage (SLR) trains. 'SLRs of train numbers 12588, 16032 and 12476 were allotted for various trips for Rs 5,19,379, Rs 1,17,32,805 and Rs 22,44,040, respectively, for two years," the official said. Similarly, SLRs for train numbers 12478 and 14692 were allotted for various trips for Rs 22,38,979 and Rs 21,36,645 for two years. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, said, 'This system is a non-revenue income system operated by the Commercial Department in Indian Railways, which includes commercial promotion, parking, pay and use parcel leasing, ATM, etc. Its allocation has been done successfully through e-auction." UP govt leases land for Hyderabads varsity campus in Lucknow at Re 1 per year
Lucknow, Aug 12 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 2.32 hectares of land for the construction of a permanent campus of the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad to promote quality education in English and foreign languages. The land is located in Chakauli village of Pargana Bijnor in the Sarojini Nagar tehsil of Lucknow district on lease at the rate of Re 1 per year, an official statement issued here said. At the permanent campus in Lucknow, the central university will run regular programmes like BA (Honours) English, MA English, MA Linguistics, MA English Literature, Post Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE) and PhD along with part-time courses in French, German, Russian and Spanish languages. At present, the university is temporarily operating from a complex at Kanpur Road in Lucknow. At the land transfer ceremony on Tuesday, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, who was also the chief guest, said that the state government is committed to providing the youth of the state with linguistic education of global standards. He expressed confidence that the construction of the permanent campus will lead to unprecedented growth in the quality of education and facilities. The university's Vice Chancellor, Prof N Nagaraju, expressed gratitude towards the state government, saying that this land transfer is a historic step for the long-term development of the institution and that the Lucknow Campus will be developed into an excellent centre for linguistic education and research. Vivo expands mid-premium segment portfolio with launch of V60 smartphones
Agency: PTI New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Chinese mobile devices maker Vivo has expanded its mid-premium segment portfolio with the launch of V60 smartphones. Priced in the range of Rs 36,999 to Rs 45,999, the company will start selling Vivo V60 smartphones on its official website, Flipkart, Amazon, and all partner retail stores August 19 onwards. 'The V series has been instrumental in Vivo's journey in India, consistently setting new benchmarks in smartphone imaging and design. With the Vivo V60, we built on the overwhelming success of the V50 and continue to push boundaries by combining elegant aesthetics, portrait imaging, and intuitive intelligence," Vivo India, head of corporate strategy, Geetaj Channana, said. Vivo led India smartphone market in the second quarter with 19 per cent market share, as per market research firm IDC. The company said Vivo V60 is India's slimmest smartphone with 6500 mAh battery. The V60 series comes with 50 megapixel telephoto camera and multifocal portrait modes. It is built on the Snapdragon 7 Gen4 chipset. V60 smartphone models have IP68 IP69, which reflect on dust and water resistance capability of the devices. Vivo V60 will be manufactured at the company's Greater Noida facility that employs around 8,000 men and women.
