Fans React to Tigers' Tarik Skubal News After Brewers Game
The Detroit Tigers immediately rebounded from their series-finale 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday by defeating the Milwaukee Brewers via a 9-1 score to start a three-game set at American Family Field in Milwaukee Monday night.
Behind another sterling performance from reigning American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal and ample production from their offense, the Tigers were able to stymie Milwaukee, which has now dropped three consecutive games.

The 28-year-old Skubal pitched seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and zero walks on 91 pitches. He was at this top form in the contest, with the Brewers unable to get someone on the base until the fifth inning.
With his strong performance, Skubal became just the first Detroit pitcher since the turn of the millennium to record seven scoreless frames with no free passes issued and nine punchouts on 91 or fewer pitches in a game, according to the Tigers' communication department.

Another post read: 'Skubs had a no no going into the 5th'
After the game, Skubal opened up about his approach on the mound.
'I care about every inning,' Skubal said, per Ryan Herrera of MLB.com. 'I care about every inning getting zeros and getting our team back in ready to hit. I try not to let the score impact who I am. I'm pitching every game as if it's 0-0.'
On the season, Skubal has a 2-2 record with a 2.66 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.
With their win on Monday, the Tigers became the first team in the AL to notch 10 wins, and they will look to get their 11th of the season this Tuesday with Jack Flaherty expected to start against the Brewers.

Braves Make Alex Verdugo Decision Before Brewers Game
Braves Make Alex Verdugo Decision Before Brewers Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Given his presence as a veteran left-handed veteran bat, one would imagine that Atlanta Braves outfielder Alex Verdugo would see considerable action against right-handed pitchers. Advertisement Evidently, those days might be over. The Braves sat Verdugo on Tuesday despite the Milwaukee Brewers sending right-hander Quinn Priester to the mound. Verdugo only has six hits and a single RBI in his last 36 at-bats for the freefalling Braves. Braves manager Brian Snitker is instead starting Eli White in left field. The 30-year-old White is also slumping, hitting a measly .206 with a .537 OPS since May 1. Interestingly, Verdugo also didn't start against San Francisco Giants right-hander Landen Roupp in Sunday's 4-3 loss. Atlanta Braves left fielder Alex VerdugoDale Zanine-Imagn Images It's not a good sign for Verdugo, who looked like a steal in his first few weeks with the Braves, if he's now seeing limited action against right-handers. We'll see if the Braves opt to part ways with the experienced outfielder, who entered Tuesday hitting .247 with 11 RBI and a .613 OPS. Advertisement Either way, the Braves are likely to face some tough decisions over the next month. Atlanta is arguably baseball's most disappointing team at 28-37 and 13 1/2 games back in the NL East. The Braves are nine games out of the NL Wild Card race and are on pace to miss the postseason for the first time since 2017. Sawyer Gipson-Long improves in second outing since returning to the Detroit Tigers
BALTIMORE — One of these days, likely sooner rather than later, Sawyer Gipson-Long will celebrate his first pitching victory since 2023. At this point in his up-and-down career, the right-hander is just happy to be on the mound again. Pitching for Detroit for the second time since returning from Tommy John and hip surgeries, Gipson-Long turned in an impressive performance at Baltimore on Tuesday night. Coming out of the bullpen, he struck out five while allowing one run and three hits over 4 2/3 innings in the Tigers' 5-3 victory .
