She also noted the success of joint healthcare initiatives, such as the production of 70 million vaccine doses in Egypt through the partnership between VACSERA and India's Serum Institute.
In education, she highlighted that over 2,000 Indian students are currently enrolled in Egyptian institutions, reflecting the growing bilateral focus on youth and skill development.
Educational ties are also flourishing, with over 2,000 Indian students enrolled in prestigious Egyptian institutions like Al-Azhar University and Cairo University, she pointed out.

Egyptian banks ease foreign currency, credit card restrictions - Economy
Major Egyptian banks have raised the foreign currency withdrawal limit for travellers to $10,000 or its equivalent in other currencies, according to notifications sent to customers on Tuesday. The banks include the state-owned National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Bank Misr, as well as the Commercial International Bank (CIB). The previous withdrawal limits ranged between $2,000 and $5,000, depending on the bank and card type. Travellers can now withdraw the full $10,000 in cash before departure by presenting a valid flight ticket and visa. The new limit is in line with the country's maximum legal allowance for outbound travelers. Meanwhile, several banks are also lowering their foreign currency markup fees on credit card transactions. Both the NBE and CIB have cut their fees from 5 percent to 3 percent. Bank Misr has also announced a similar reduction to 3 percent, effective 13 August 2025. Additionally, Bank Misr has increased its foreign currency sale limit for travellers to $10,000, up from $5,000. The Arab African International Bank (AAIB) has also followed suit, raising its overseas credit card usage limit to a similar amount. In a related development, the Central Bank of Egypt scrapped requirements to verify a customer's travel abroad when using credit cards, citing current market conditions. Since late 2022, Egyptian banks have imposed strict limits on the use of credit and debit cards abroad to stem the outflow of foreign currency amid a deepening dollar shortage, a rapidly expanding parallel market, and mounting pressure on the pound. The most significant restrictions were introduced in 2023, when monthly overseas spending caps were drastically reduced. In some cases, these limits were as low as $50–$100 for regular customers and only a few hundred dollars for premium cardholders. Markup fees were also raised to 5%, and banks were required to verify customer travel before approving significant foreign currency transactions. These measures were closely tied to successive devaluations of the Egyptian pound in March and October 2022 and January 2023, which saw the currency lose over half its value against the dollar. With the pound's sharp depreciation of driving demand for hard currency, authorities sought to close loopholes that allowed customers to obtain dollars at the official rate via card use. The easing of these restrictions began only after the March 2024 devaluation, coupled with major foreign investment inflows, which improved dollar liquidity and allowed banks to gradually restore overseas card limits. Egypt's Tourism Minister visits Bosnia to boost tourist arrivals
Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, has met with officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina to discuss ways to increase tourist traffic from the Balkan country to Egypt, the ministry said in a statement. Fathy held an expanded professional meeting in Sarajevo with senior officials from the Bosnian tourism sector, including representatives from tourism entities and cities, heads of tourism companies, hotels, and airports. During the meeting, the minister emphasised the importance of direct communication with tour operators as a key element in supporting inbound tourism to Egypt. He stated that the government is focused on creating infrastructure, improving the investment climate, and running promotional campaigns in targeted international markets. Fathy outlined the ministry's strategy, which focuses on promoting Egypt as a top global destination due to its diverse offerings, including cultural, beach, spiritual, and Nile tourism. He added that expanding hotel capacity is a current priority, with the goal of doubling the number of hotel rooms by 2030. This year, 18,000 new rooms are expected to be added, with 6,000 already in service since the beginning of the year. The minister also highlighted Egypt's hosting of international events and concerts in cities like New Alamein, Sharm El-Sheikh, and the Giza Pyramids area. He also suggested organising familiarisation trips for tourism company representatives and influencers from both countries, as well as tourism roadshows and workshops. Fathy's visit is the first official visit by an Egyptian minister to Sarajevo in 15 years. He began his trip by meeting with Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. During that meeting, Fathy reviewed the positive performance of Egypt's tourism sector in 2024, which saw 15.8 million tourists, a 6% increase from 2023. He also mentioned the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled for November 1. The two ministers expressed their readiness to advance cooperation, including promoting joint tourism investments, facilitating visa procedures, and increasing the number of direct flights. They also discussed potential cooperation in archaeology, leveraging Egyptian expertise in monument restoration and museum management.

Egypt aims to strengthen military production ties with India: Minister
Mohamed Salah El-Din, Minister of State for Military Production, met with Suresh K. Reddy, India's ambassador to Cairo, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation across various manufacturing sectors. The meeting took place at the ministry's headquarters in the Government District of the New Administrative Capital. Salah El-Din began by welcoming the Indian ambassador and his accompanying delegation, presenting an overview of the manufacturing, technical, and technological capabilities of the ministry's affiliated companies and units. The ministry supervises numerous industrial firms, along with a maintenance company, an information systems company, a Centre of Scientific and Technological Excellence, a construction company, and a training sector—making it a cornerstone of Egypt's national industry. He commended the significant advances in India's technological infrastructure in recent years, particularly the expansion of internet networks, enhanced data transfer capacity, and improved nationwide communication quality. In this context, he highlighted Tewya Technology, a ministry-affiliated company specialising in information systems, digital transformation, systems analysis and design, business development, and the support and maintenance of information systems for both governmental and private entities, as well as data collection and storage. The minister stressed the ministry's core mission of meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and police in terms of ammunition, weapons, and equipment. He added that surplus production capacity is utilised for manufacturing a wide range of civilian products and contributing to national and developmental projects. Salah underscored the ministry's commitment to adopting advanced technologies, diversifying both military and civilian product lines, and enhancing product quality and competitiveness in international markets. This, he noted, aligns with the directives of Egypt's political leadership to localise the latest global technologies and expand manufacturing capabilities across all sectors. Reaffirming the strong ties between Egypt and India, Salah expressed his keenness to build on this cooperation. He referred to existing partnerships, including collaboration between Helwan Diesel Engines Company (Factory 909 Military) and Ashok Leyland in diesel engine manufacturing, and between Helwan Company for Machinery and Equipment (Factory 999 Military), Bajaj of India, and a private-sector partner to produce the environmentally friendly 'Qute' vehicle. He emphasised that Egypt's economy offers promising investment opportunities, supported by large-scale national projects. Salah El-Din expressed his aspiration to establish further partnerships focused on transferring and localising advanced technologies, deepening local manufacturing, and exchanging expertise and technical information between the ministry's companies and their Indian counterparts in related fields. The meeting also included an invitation for Indian companies to participate in 'EDEX 2025,' to be held in Egypt from 1 to 4 December 2025 at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. For his part, Ambassador Reddy affirmed that Egypt is among the most promising investment destinations, thanks to its unique geographical position linking Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, along with its energy resources and advanced infrastructure that support industrial growth. He noted that Indian companies view Egypt as an ideal investment hub, not only because of its location but also due to its skilled administrative workforce and strong commitment to developing local talent. Reddy praised Egypt's pivotal role in the Arab region and the Middle East, as well as its constructive engagement on regional and international issues. He said several Indian companies are interested in opening new horizons for cooperation with Egypt's military production companies, given their continuous development and efforts to attract more global investment. He emphasised the importance of facilitating technical delegation exchanges in the coming period to review modern technologies at production facilities and to define areas of mutual cooperation.
