"We want peace...", say civilians after continued ceasefire violation across border by Pakistan Army

The intense shelling by the Pakistani army along the LoC came in retaliation for the May 7 'Operation Sindoor' in which India's armed forces targeted a total of nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Pakistan has been resorting to unprovoked small arms ceasefire after Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam Terror attack.
A civilian living in the border areas after the destruction due to continued ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army said that they want peace in the country.
While speaking to ANI, one of the villagers talked about the incident suffered by the locals, saying, ' We came outside when we heard sounds of shelling around 3 am today. There is only smoke and damage here now...We want peace.'
Another civilian who has suffered damage to his property said, 'The action taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Pakistan is very good. We request the government to help us, as my son's house is damaged.'
The civilian establishments in one of the villages along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir have suffered serious damage in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
Meanwhile, in the Akhnoor sector, families living near the Line of Control (LoC) have been forced to leave their homes once again due to ongoing cross-border firing and to take shelter at safer places.
Ajit Singh, a resident of Palatnagarh village, which is just 200 metres from the Pakistani border, recalled past experiences.
'Bullets have hit our homes. In 2016, seven walls of my house were damaged. The government gave us 4.5 acres of land, and we built new homes with their help,' he said.
'When firing starts, people leave the village. Once it stops, they return to the farm. Even animals get scared,' he added.
Singh said they were recently advised to evacuate. 'Yesterday, we met the BLO (Block level officer). They told us to leave immediately. We walked until we saw a vehicle and spent the night here with our children,' he said, referring to their current temporary shelter.
He recalled being displaced during the Kargil war in 1999. 'We were sent to camps then. Later, we were told this place would be safe. Now, five or six families from my village stay here.'
Singh said more than 20 people, including six families, took shelter last night. 'It was cold at first, but better now,' he added.
The local administration monitors the situation and has arranged temporary relief for the displaced families.
The Indian Armed Forces targeted nine locations in deep areas of Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday morning. They launched strikes on several terrorist camps in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. (ANI)

Delhi Police Ban Sub-Conventional Aerial Platforms Ahead Of Independence Day
New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh on Saturday ordered a ban on sub-conventional aerial platforms across the national capital from August 2 to August 16 in view of security preparations related to the upcoming Independence Day. According to the order, flying aerial devices such as paragliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), UASs (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), microlight aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters, and remotely piloted aircraft has been banned under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The order said that such aerial platforms may pose a threat to public safety, VIPs, and critical installations in Delhi during the sensitive period around August 15. This is Singh's first order as the new Delhi Police Commissioner. The ban is aimed at preventing their possible misuse by anti-social and terrorist elements, including for para-jumping or launching airborne attacks. The prohibition will remain in force for 15 days, starting from August 2 and ending on August 16, unless withdrawn earlier, the order said. Security agencies are already on high alert across the capital as preparations for the 78th Independence Day event at the Red Fort are underway.

VARANASI: Amid the tariff stalemate with the USA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday sent a strong message to the world that protecting India's economic interest was paramount. Speaking in his parliamentary constituency on Saturday, the PM emphasised that the "top priority of the government remains the welfare of farmers, small industries and employment for youth." He reaffirmed the resilience of the Indian economy, saying that the country must remain vigilant about its economic interests and adopt 'swadeshi' products. "There is an atmosphere of global instability. All countries are focusing on their individual interests. Poor enrolment in schools is UP govt's fault, alleges AAP
Lucknow: In continuation of its ongoing protest against the programme initiated by UP govt to pair low-occupancy schools with the ones with more strength, Aam Aadmi Party staged protest in Lucknow on Saturday, attended by activists, teachers and parents of schoolgoing children. The party said the protests would continue across the state until govt retracted the order. Party MP Sanjay Singh, who led the protest, said AAP would not allow any govt school to be closed. Referring to some changes made in the order by govt on Thursday, Singh said this was partial victory but the movement would not stop until the plan to close selected schools was completely abandoned. Accusing govt of failing to improve condition of schools in the state, Singh said current plan of govt was an attempt to deprive children from poor, Dalit, backward classes and minority backgrounds of education. He argued that reason for poor enrolment given for pairing of schools was govt's fault, not of children. "The effort to walk longer distances to attend schools will most impact girls, differently abled children and those from marginalised communities and it is the duty of govt to ensure easy, accessible schooling for all children," he said. Party's co-in charge for UP, Dilip Pandey, said govt would not be allowed to get away with minor changes and would have to retract the order fully.
