Sarvepalle MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy attended as chief guests.
MLA Somireddy has facilitated the four teams, which won trophy, and presented Rs 1 lakh from his own funds.
Kovur MLA Prasanthi has donated Rs 15 lakh for the construction of main arch on behalf of Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy Foundation.
Stating that he is fortunate to attend as a chief guest in this programme, MLA Somireddy has assured of extending all support for the all-round development of VSU. He called upon all sections of people to extend moral support to the Indian government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in initiating Operation Sindoor to protect nation's integrity.
MLA Vemireddy has congratulated VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Allam Srinivasa Rao of his initiative in conducting such a big national event. VSU V-C A Srinivasa Rao said it is time for students to give equal priority to sports along with studies as both the Central and State governments are keen on developing sports and games by spending funds in a big way. He recalled that noted player Karanam Malleswari is working as Vice-Chancellor for Delhi Sports University, while world class cricket player Sachin Tendulkar has secured highest award Bharath Ratna for his talent in cricket.
In-charge Registrar Dr K Suneetha, VSU Principal CH Vijaya, Sports Board Director Venkatrayulu and others were present.

India, US troops to undertake joint military exercise next month, first after Op Sindoor
The joint exercise comes at a time when Pakistan and US have come closer than ever before under the Trump administration. The US President hosting Pakistan's army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House to undertaking joint anti-terror talks with Islamabad, both sides have a long way from 2018 when Trump had described Pakistan as a 'safe haven for terrorists'. Termed 'Yudh Abhyas', the annual exercise from 1 to 16 September in US' Alaska will see an all-arms contingent going from the Indian Army led by the Madras Regiment, ThePrint has learnt. New Delhi: Amid heightened tensions between New Delhi and Washington, and a growing synergy between the Pakistan government and US President Donald Trump, Indian and American troops will undertake a joint military exercise next month. 'The upcoming edition will see participation from both sides in high-altitude conditions in Alaska, a factor that adds operational complexity to the drills. Such settings will also allow troops to train in environments that mirror potential conflict zones,' said a source. Launched in 2004 under the framework of the Indo-US defence Cooperation Agreement, 'Yudh Abhyas' alternates annually between locations in India and the US, with the previous edition held in Rajasthan in 2024. In the exercise, the Indian Army and US Army typically take part in tactical field training which covers counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and peacekeeping scenarios with command post drills that focus on mission planning, joint operations and coordination under United Nations mandates. Beyond such tactics, the exercise also serves as a platform for sharing military technology, operational best practices and disaster relief coordination methods. Separately, India and the US are also preparing to finalise the proposed 10-year framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership, expected to be signed during the next meeting between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. The plan aims to expand cooperation beyond arms purchases to include co-production of systems such as the Javelin ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles) and the Stryker combat vehicle. Furthermore, amidst tensions with the US, the Ministry of Defence had last week dismissed media reports claiming India had paused talks for major US defence purchases. Calling such reports 'false and fabricated', MoD officials had said procurement cases 'are being progressed as per the extant procedures'. Ganeshotsav Mandals should create awareness about Operation Sindoor: Maha CM
Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday asked the Ganeshotsav Mandals to create awareness about the power shown by India to the world through Operation Sindoor and the use of indigenous products during this year's Ganesh festival. He appealed to the public Ganeshotsav Mandals to celebrate this Ganeshotsav in a peaceful and enthusiastic atmosphere in coordination with the administration, and also expressed the hope that the scenes based on 'Operation Sindoor' would be dedicated to the jawans. At the meeting to review the law and order situation, Fadnavis also instructed the administration to take necessary actions so that Ganesh devotees do not face any problems during the Ganesh festival. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Minister of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Mangalprabhat Lodha, Minister of State for Home (Rural) Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State for Home (Urban) Yogesh Kadam and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar were present. He gave instructions to give permission to idol makers for five consecutive years, like the public Ganeshotsav Mandals. He said that the idol makers should renew these licenses every year. For permission, one should take advantage of the computerised system-based one-window scheme launched by the Municipal Corporation, he added. He also gave instructions to increase the number of artificial lakes for immersion of Ganesh idols and the number of boats for immersion of tall idols in the deep sea on the seashore. Fadnavis said that the state government has given Ganeshotsav the status of a state festival. Therefore, a large-scale and detailed plan has been made by the state government to celebrate this festival. All the concessions given to Ganeshotsav mandals last year will be maintained this year as well. The law should be followed properly while celebrating this festival. 'Since Eid-e-Milad festival also falls during Ganeshotsav, care should be taken to ensure that law and order does not deteriorate anywhere by maintaining religious harmony. Positive action will be taken under the court to extend the days of permission given to loudspeakers during Ganeshotsav,' he added. According to the government release, it was decided at today's meeting that the property tax will not be levied on the offices of the public Ganeshotsav Mandals, which will convey to the administration in writing that their offices are not being used for commercial purposes.
