2 VSU faculty members receive awards
Nellore: The prestigious Vishwaguru Old Records Game Changer 2025 Awards ceremony was grandly organised in Hyderabad. During this event, distinguished individuals who have rendered notable services in various fields were recognised and honoured with national and state-level awards. From Nellore, Dr Uday Shankar Allam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and NSS Programme Coordinator at Vikrama Simhapuri University, received the National Level Game Changer Award – 2025 in the Science and Technology-cum-Social Service category. Similarly, Dr B. Venkata Subbareddy, Assistant Professor and NSS Programme Officer, was conferred the State Level Game Changer Award – 2025 in the Community Development category. These prestigious awards were presented by Justice Lakshmi Narayana Alishetti of the Telangana High Court. The Vice-Chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University, Prof Allam Srinivasa Rao, along with Registrar Dr K Sunitha, College Principal C.H. Vijaya, other faculty members and staff of the University, congratulated the awardees for bringing national and state-level recognition to the university by excelling in both professional and service-oriented endeavours.

Sacrifices of Kargil heroes remembered
Nellore: Political parties, district administration, and educational institutions paid floral tributes to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War, honoring their role in protecting India's sovereignty. The district administration organised the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Tikkana Pranganam, where rich tributes were offered to the martyrs. BJP Nellore unit held a candlelight rally from VRC Center to Gandhi Bomma Center, commemorating the heroes. Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) conducted a special event at Kakutur village in Venkatachalam mandal, paying floral homage to the fallen soldiers. At Tikkana Pranganam, district collector O Anand recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs, emphasising the need to foster patriotism among youth for national interest. Reflecting on his childhood during the Kargil War, Anand noted he was eight years old, listening to war-related news. He highlighted that 20 soldiers from Nellore laid down their lives in the conflict. Acknowledging the irreplaceable loss, he assured administrative support for the holistic development of martyrs' families and proposed establishing a 'Martyrs Statue' in the city. Addressing retired soldiers' long-pending land issues, Anand promised swift issuance of possession certificates. Joint collector Kollabathula Karthik and District Soldiers Welfare Officer Harikrishna attended the event.

Vikrama Simhapuri University student participates in Global Youth Summit in Karnataka
Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) student and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteer B. Yugandhar Reddy represented Andhra Pradesh at the Global Youth Summit – 2025 held at Yenepoya University in Mangaluru during June 5-6. He is currently pursuing an Integrated Biotechnology course at the university. The summit was organised by the State NSS Cell of Karnataka under the sponsorship of the State government. Around 700 young leaders from various parts of the world participated in the event. The discussions were held on various topics such as youth leadership, social responsibility, and global citizenship. VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Allam Srinivasa Rao on Monday expressed happiness over the participation of an NSS volunteer from the university in an international event. On the occasion, Registrar, Principal of the University College, NSS Programme Coordinator, NSS Programme Officers, along with faculty members and students from various departments conveyed their wishes to Yugandhar Reddy.

Vikrama Simhapuri University implements dual major programmes
The Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) is implementing the New Education Policy-2020 by transitioning from a single-major programme, to a dual-major model. According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Allam Srinivasa Rao, the move will equip students to gain skills in two distinct domains, significantly enhancing their career prospects. Prof. Rao chaired a coordination meeting on Monday at the university campus. The meeting was attended by principals of affiliated and constituent colleges offering Degree, PG, MBA, MCA, Physical Education, Education, and Law programmes. The V-C highlighted the effective implementation of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system, a digital platform that allows students to store credits obtained from various educational institutions across the country. He said: 'The system increases academic flexibility and supports skill development.' As part of the Yogandra 2025 initiative, the V-C suggested speeding up student enrolment by registering their details and maintaining data in digital format. He stressed the need for efficient coordination with affiliated colleges to streamline the process. VSU Registrar Dr. K. Sunitha said: 'Affiliated colleges will play a key role in implementing the restructured academic programs introduced by the university. Every institution must actively participate in the successful execution of these changes. It is essential to have a thorough understanding and effective implementation of the dual major programmes, the ABC system, and Yogandra 2025's enrolment procedures.'

All India Inter University Soft Ball tournament concludes
Nellore: The 10-day All India Inter University Soft Ball Tournament for Men and Women, conducted at Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in Kakutur village of Venkatachalam mandal, concluded on Thursday. As many as 3,000 players from various universities across the country participated in the tournament. VSU stood as overall champion in the event. Sarvepalle MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy attended as chief guests. MLA Somireddy has facilitated the four teams, which won trophy, and presented Rs 1 lakh from his own funds. Kovur MLA Prasanthi has donated Rs 15 lakh for the construction of main arch on behalf of Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy Foundation. Stating that he is fortunate to attend as a chief guest in this programme, MLA Somireddy has assured of extending all support for the all-round development of VSU. He called upon all sections of people to extend moral support to the Indian government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in initiating Operation Sindoor to protect nation's integrity. MLA Vemireddy has congratulated VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Allam Srinivasa Rao of his initiative in conducting such a big national event. VSU V-C A Srinivasa Rao said it is time for students to give equal priority to sports along with studies as both the Central and State governments are keen on developing sports and games by spending funds in a big way. He recalled that noted player Karanam Malleswari is working as Vice-Chancellor for Delhi Sports University, while world class cricket player Sachin Tendulkar has secured highest award Bharath Ratna for his talent in cricket. In-charge Registrar Dr K Suneetha, VSU Principal CH Vijaya, Sports Board Director Venkatrayulu and others were present.
