NFL training camp 2025 news, live updates: Is Matthew Stafford's lingering back injury becoming a conern?
All 32 NFL teams have reported to training camp, and there's no shortage of intrigue and storylines so far.
It didn't seem like a big deal when Rams QB Matthew Stafford sat out the first few practices of training camp with a sore back. The plan was to get him going as soon as pads went on.
That didn't happen.
Now the Rams are headed into some important joint practices with the Dallas Cowboys this week, and head coach Sean McVay told reporters Stafford is likely to miss those as well. When exactly will the QB return from his back issue? It's unknown.
The 37-year-old QB saw a back specialist again in recent days to try to figure out when he can return.
The timetable remains vague, though McVay did say Stafford plans to begin some individual drills on Monday, for what that's worth.

The Rams also have joint practices with the Chargers next week, and it's not clear if Stafford will be ready to go for those. With a little more than a month to go before the start of the regular season, is it time to worry about the veteran QB who has yet to practice in training camp?
Top NFL training camp stories
The Micah Parsons saga added another dramatic chapter on Friday when he posted on social media a formal trade request from the Cowboys, though Jerry Jones said Saturday he has plans to deal away the star pass rusher and that he isn't fazed by the request.
Terry McLaurin requested a trade on Thursday from the Washington Commanders, according to reports. The Commanders have no intentions of trading him at this time, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Bills RB James Cook suddenly skipped practice on Sunday. When asked why, he simply said: "business." Does this mean the star of a hold-in for the running back as he looks for a new contract?
The Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition was down to just two healthy players on Saturday, with Kenny Pickett limited to individual drills and Shedeur Sanders sitting out team drills with reported arm soreness. That meant a ton of reps for Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel. Injuries are adding an interesting wrinkle to this competition.
Notable wide receiver injuries around the league: Eagles' A.J. Brown missed practice on Sunday with a hamstring injury; Bills' Khalil Shakir is week-to-week with a high ankle sprain; Chargers' Ladd McConkey was held out of Saturday and Sunday team sessions with an undisclosed injury; 49ers' Jauan Jennings has been out since July 27 with a calf injury; Cardinals' Marvin Harrison Jr. missed a few Cardinals practices last week but he returned for some individual work on Saturday.

Dibling bigger talent than Kane
Everton remain in negotiations for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, who is reportedly not taking part in contact training at St Mary's in order to protect himself for any potential move, although the clubs are yet to agree on a fee. Everton's current record signing is the £45m they paid for Gylfi Sigurdsson in 2017 and they could exceed this figure to secure Dibling's services. Former Saints boss Russell Martin believes he would be worth every penny. Martin coached James Maddison and Harry Kane in their early careers and he told The Rest is Football podcast thatrates Dibling even more highly. "When I was there I had to play it down a lot and not make things more difficult for him," Martin said, "but he is the most talented player I've ever worked with. "Seeing him on the training pitch, seeing him live, Tyler has every capability to play for England and at the top level for a very long time. Martin highlighted Dibling's versatility, noting he can play at eight, 10, as a false nine or on the wing for any new club. "He's powerful, he's really quick and [uses] both feet. Physically, the stuff I've seen him do at 18 in the Premier League, with people just bouncing him off him and being put on the floor when he dribbles, he has something I've not seen in a British player for some time."
